In backwards order, Nokia has finally launched the N900 after we've already seen a review and countless leaks. Nevertheless, it's good to have the new Maemo 5 Internet Tablet out in the open and official-like. The specs include a 3.5-inch 800x480 pixel (resistive) touchscreen, sliding QWERTY, 32GB of on-board storage expandable to 48GB via microSD, GPS/A-GPS, FM transmitter, TV-out, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, 1320mAh battery, and 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash. Better yet, this monster MID brings the power of the ARM Cortex-A8, up to 1GB of application memory, and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration to make quick work of polygons and what Nokia promises will be a "PC-like experience on a handset-sized device." It also brings a Mozilla-based Maemo browser with Adobe Flash 9.4 support. As expected, it'll be on display at Nokia World next week before this quad-band GSM/EDGE, 900/1700/2100MHz UMTS/HSPA handset heads to select markets in October for €500 (pre tax and pre carrier subsidy). And by the looks of that 1700MHz band, this baby's heading to T-Mobile USA.

10 awesome feature of maemo 5 here

As u could see tis baby sporting maemo 5 (a linux variant) platform rather than symbian that quite associated with nokia nowadays..before this maemo was used in nokia's internet tablet (Nokia N800, N810)
Maemo itself is a very powerful linux platform, its is not linux based like Android OS or Palm webOS...IT IS LINUX laugh.gif
So what do u think on this phone...for me im drooling on this drool.gif

1320mah for a so powerful device is not good enough

quite true...hoping for nokia show us their expertise in software optimizing....juz look on the e75....although the batt supplied is oni 950mAh but its life can rival the N97...now that is something impressive rclxms.gif

According to eldar murtazin (the guy behind mobile-review.com), mybe there's no device with xenon from nokia in the near future...(Q4 2009 mybe hmm.gif )
guess those wif n82 hve to hold on longer to their phone lol laugh.gif

u cannot compare like tat

1st E75 non touch screen so less power consume
2nd E75 screen so small = less power consume.
N97 hungers for battery because screen 3.5inch and touch screen
*
Yeah I know dat...but hoping for some magic to happen tongue.gif
But tbh...if n900 can last 1 day in heavy usage is already considered quite impressive...u cant ignore that underneath its hood lies 600 mhz ARM Cortex A8 proc n also the large 3.5 inch touchscreen laugh.gif

but no multitouchscreen sad.gif
*
its true but seriously for me it is not a dealbreaker wink.gif
If there's a well designed alternative for multitouch then there's no prob
for instance in the browser although there's no pinching gesture like on the iphone...the double tap n circular motion to zoom is not so bad either...
n tbh i prefer the double tap to zoom more on my 5800 than the pinching like the iphone nod.gif
hence in easier word its nice to hve multitouch but it is not a must have for me icon_rolleyes.gif

but it would be a plus if it has multitouch and the leveling thing... with it there's more possible apps you can do with it. but not crappy apps like the ones for iphone
n900 got 3g? and there's no ngage for n900 aswell..
*
wait...do you even read my reply beforehand? sweat.gif
n900 got HSDPA or better known as 3.5G
for ngage yeah mybe it will not support it out of the box....n mybe nokia will provide it as updates...it is not impossible as Ovi Maps already being ported by nokia n included out of the box in N900

omnia hd is out coz too overprice in malaysia market. Rm2800 for 8gb? Pls la... I could get better offer then this. Nowadays 8gb and 16gb isn't sufficient.

N900 can support many video codec plus no need to convert the video, max 48gb and etc. N900 is definitely worth to choose. rclxms.gif
*
yeah s60 is not bad at all....one of the most powerful mobile OS out there....but the UI is not for everyone laugh.gif
Don't get me wrong...im loving it to death rclxms.gif

Bout Omnia HD...yeah its price is a bit steep...but dont forget it the oni phone out there supporting full HD vid recording smile.gif
In other word both N900 n Omnia HD will appeal to different set of market icon_rolleyes.gif

But that the main feature of Omnia HD...HD vid recording...mybe the vid is not meant to be viewed in the phone itself...think of it like a videocam rite nod.gif

well its up to u after all...but 4 me the inability 4 iphone to multitask is a dealbreaker icon_rolleyes.gif

If I want HD recording, better go for HD or Full HD Camcorder. Reason why, the vid HD recorder is actually poorer then those HD camcorder (well of course). So, I just want a regular or common piece of lense like Carl Zeiss 5MP which already suffice and no HD recording since phone won't keep up with HD camcorder afterall (maybe 7 years later will be) icon_rolleyes.gif
*
ha3 well not everyone carry their hd vid recorder after all...I think Samsung is targeting this niche after all smile.gif

Spec wise, N900 beat iPhone anytime. Only touchscreen experience (N900 use ultra-sensitive resensitive while iPhone use capacitive) iPhone win hands down.
*
I wouldn't say iphone win hands down...in term of sensitivity yes iphone capacitive screen win but in terms of accuracy N900 pawns Iphone any time....in short both hve their own speciality....capacitive screen tends to be more sensitive while resistive ones more accurate....n not to mention the sensitivity on resistive screen is catching up with capacitive screen so we will see more of that in the future icon_rolleyes.gif
