Real Madrid Club de Fútbol

About the Club

Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (commonly known as Real Madrid or Madrid) is a Spanish sports club best known for its football team. It is the most successful team in the world and has even been named "The Best Club of the 20th Century" by FIFA in 2000, having won a record 31 La Liga titles, 17 Spanish Cups, a record 9 European Cups and 2 UEFA Cups. Founded in 1902, Real Madrid has since spent all of its history in the top flight of Spanish football. The club's home colours are their legendary all white and they play their home games at the 80,354-capacity Santiago Bernabéu football stadium. Unlike most European football clubs, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club since its inception.

The Crest

user posted image

The first crest of Real Madrid had a simple design consisting of a decorative interlacing of the three initials of the club, "MCF" for Madrid Club de Fútbol, in dark blue on a white shirt. The first change in the crest occurred in 1908 when the letters adopted a more streamlined form and appeared inside a circle. The next change in the configuration of the crest did not occur until the presidency of Pedro Parages in 1920. At that time, King Alfonso XIII granted the club his royal patronage which came in the form of the title "Real", roughly translated as "Royal". Thus, the crown was added to the crest and the club styled itself Real Madrid Club de Fútbol. With the dissolution of the monarchy in 1931, all the royal symbols (the crown on the crest and the title of Real) were eliminated. The crown was replaced by the dark mulberry band of the Region of Castile. In 1941, two years after the end of the Civil War, the "Real Corona", or "Royal Crown", was restored while the mulberry stripe of Castile was retained as well. In addition, the whole crest was made full color, with gold being the most prominent, and the club was again called Real Madrid Club de Fútbol. The most recent modification to the crest occurred in 2001 when the club wanted to better situate itself for the twenty-first century and further standardize its crest. One of the modifications made was changing the mulberry stripe to a more bluish shade.

The Stadium

user posted image user posted image user posted image

After moving between grounds the team moved to the "Campo de O'Donnell" in 1912, which remained its home ground for eleven years. The club then moved for one year to the Campo de Ciudad Lineal, a small ground with a capacity of 8,000 spectators. After that, Real Madrid moved its home matches to Estadio Chamartín which was inaugurated on 17 May 1923 with a match against Newcastle United. In this stadium, which hosted 22,500 spectators, Real Madrid celebrated its first Spanish league title.

After some successes, the 1943 elected president Santiago Bernabéu decided that the Estadio Chamartín was not big enough for the ambitions of the club. Work on the grounds started on October 27, 1944. Originally called Estadio Chamartín as well after Madrid's previous stadium, it was inaugurated in December 1947. Real Madrid officially adopted the present name, Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, on January 4, 1955 in honor of the club president Santiago Bernabéu. The first match held on the Bernabéu was played between Real Madrid and the Portuguese club Belenenses and won by The Whites with 3–1, the first goal being scored by Sabino Barinaga.

The capacity has changed frequently, peaking at 120,000 after a 1953 expansion. Since then, there have been a number of reductions due to modernizations (the last standing places went away in 1998–99 in response to UEFA regulations which forbids standing at matches in the UEFA competition), countered to some extent by expansions. The last change was an increase of about five thousand to a capacity of 80,354, effected in 2003.

The Santiago Bernabéu has recently been upgraded to Elite Football Stadium status by UEFA and even has its own Madrid Metro station along the 10 line. The stadium has hosted the 1964 European Championship final, the 1982 FIFA World Cup final, the 1957, 1969 and 1980 European Cup finals and is due to host the 2010 Champions League Final.

Capacity: 80,354
Length: 107 m
Width: 72 m
Surface: Grass
First match: Real Madrid vs. Os Belenenses (Portugal)
Address: Avenida de Concha Espina 1, E28036

The Kit

user posted image user posted image

Real Madrid's traditional home colours are all white. The clubs' nicknames "Los Blancos" ("The Whites") and "Los Merengues" (after the dessert meringue) were influenced by it. The kit initially adopted a blue oblique stripe on the shirt; but unlike today, dark blue socks were worn. The striped shirt was replaced by an all-white version, modeled after the shirt worn by Corinthian F.C. in 1902. In the same year, the blue socks were replaced by black ones. By the early 1940s the manager changed the kit again by adding the club's crest on the left breast (which have remained ever since). On 23 November 1947, in a game against Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium, Real Madrid became the first Spanish team to wear numbered shirts.

Madrid's traditional away colours are all black or all purple. The club's kit is currently manufactured by Adidas and their current shirt sponsor is bwin.com.

Yesterday .. Lass played with number !0, i think when Wesley S. will go he will wear the number.. But is weird to see a defensive midfielder wearing 10.

Good luck to our team this season ... real things are starting.

We have players , and they are starting to know each other very well.

My only problem is the defense , since Pepe wont play the firsts games. But i think those newbies will handle it..

Hala Mardrid !

Edit : According to Marca, As and most of the sports sites, Wesley S. has given his agreement to join Inter Milan . The official website of Madrid will announce it soon. He will keep his yearly salary of 4M per year. And he will sign a contract of 15M for 5 years.

That is a great news, we needed space a we got it, one more to go.

I don't think the Lass will be wearing the 10 once the real thing starts. We are just waiting for Sneijder to officially leave then I think Benzema will get the 10. Lass will just take whichever number is left. Probably 19.

So far all our CB's have been in great form over in pre-season. Albiol in particular looked a class act.

I know what the official website says. But RVN is almost certain to get his no 17 back since there is no one fighting him for it. wink.gif

Once Sneijder leaves we only need to sell VDV and then we will have our 25 set. 22 outfield players and 3 gks.

The draw is mainly drawing one team each from one pot (out of 4 pots) to form a group of 4 teams, in total there will be 8 groups, and fixtures are played home and away. Top 2 will qualify for KO games later as the tournament progresses.

Draw will be made later today. No teams from the same country can meet in the group stage.

As for RM, there are still some big teams out there that can be drawn into your group, i.e. any of Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool, AC Milan, Arsenal, Bayern and other top European teams such as Marseille, Fiorentina, Besiktas, Bordeaux, etc.

We can't draw any of the Spanish teams so we have a high chance to draw an English club. Milan or Bayern would also be mouth watering  drool.gif

I hope Astro will broadcast most of our UCL matches since we have almost all the big names in football today.

About the draw, I hope that we can meet Chelsea. Not that because they are in good form or anything. For me, Chelsea had always been the best english team in Europe for several years now. icon_rolleyes.gif

Robben is almost confirmed to be going to Bayern for 25ME. AS, Marca, Cadena Ser and Bild have all reported it.

Which means VDV is staying? hmm.gif

No need to be sad. My initial reaction to Robben's sale was one of shock and dismay as well. But after I calmed down and rationalised I could see why we did it. If before the start of the preseason if someone told me that we would trade Robben for Ronaldo, Sneijder for Kaka, and Benzema for Huntelaar, I would have said "Just do it!". Maybe we've been spoiled somewhat over the summer; we just need to look at it from a different perspective. Our squad was bloated as it is and the sale of Robben and Sneijder means Granero and Higuain will have more minutes as well and lest we forget it was Higuain who was our most consistent player not Robben. But I have a feeling that we will pull a surprise before the end of the window wink.gif

I don't think Perez is that stupid, it's 25ME for God's sake! shakehead.gif Let's wait until the 31st of August. Anyway, i wish Sneijder and Robben will do well in their respective club, they were both great professionals.

Sneijder went for only 15M??? Sneijder could have had a break out season this season, if it really was 15M, Sneijder is way under priced, he should be worth almost double. I'm neutral on Robben, Perez probably struck a deal allowing RObben to go to Bayern this season in return for Ribery next season.

although its still early in the season and players is trying to find their form but
RM defenses really need to work more harder
they left too much spaces at their side

and today Santiago Bernabeu atmosphere is really great

For what it's worth our defense line is not at full strength (yet). The absence of Pepe & Ramos, whom are very good in the air, makes us vulnerable in set pieces and crosses. I believe that when both of them are back in the 1st eleven, our back line will be more convincing.

And Benzema shouldnt make it a habit of hitting the post too much. tongue.gif

Well we won .. but .. still a lot to do .

The attack was ok ,Cristiano put pressure on him but lets give him time to adapt. Kaka is definitely THE player of the midfield. We also saw again that Granero can help.

Lass is becoming incontrovertible in the team .. keep it up !! he is very important. But it seems Alonso is the real DM while Lass climbs a bit during matches ... According to me, we shouldnt do that because Alonso can deliver good long balls to our wingers.

Talking about wingers, Roben scored two goals today in his first game with bayern and i will really miss him.

To conclude, i will say that, we won .. but we still lack the beauty and automatism in our game.

I miss PEPE.

Hala Madrid !

someone told me live match at 816 but my astro doesnt appear #816, so i just try this kind of technique tongue.gif

btw, both our former star robben & sneider well performed at their new club. arhhhhhhhhhhhh i wonder if robben was in our team last nite how many goals that he could score. so many chances there and our defense??? no comment since pepe has been banned for few games & ramos still injured. sad.gif sad.gif

impresive in attacking but LACK & too much hole in our defense. Not good enough to compete with our arh-rival. biggrin.gif

someone told me live match at 816 but my astro doesnt appear #816, so i just try this kind of technique tongue.gif

btw, both our former star robben & sneider well performed at their new club. arhhhhhhhhhhhh i wonder if robben was in our team last nite how many goals that he could score. so many chances there and our defense??? no comment since pepe has been banned for few games & ramos still injured. sad.gif sad.gif

impresive in attacking but LACK & too much hole in our defense. Not good enough to compete with our arh-rival. biggrin.gif
*
Hurm. #816? Gonna try it the next time.

If Robben played for Madrid last night, he would have ended in the score sheet for sure. From what I see, we barely tested their LB. Arbeloa was good but he didn't want to cross the ball. He always cutback and passes it to Lass or Kaka. I didn't say it's a bad thing just that he can do much better if he try to cross the ball ONCE IN A WHILE. whistling.gif

miguel torres off to getafe with the option of getting him back for the next 2 years.......a little surprised with that deal

i like torres a lot.........an able cover in the defence......if it was me, i would have gone for torres rather than getting arbeloa

but real madrid have quite a cover in the full backs department, so all the best to torres.....hope he gets more playing time and develop and come back to real madrid.......

hahaah..an interesting article from ESPNsoccernet....nothing too serious but fun reading...enjoy..

After a summer full of exciting news from the Spanish White House, the casual La Liga follower could very well be thinking that this year's success is already guaranteed for los merengues.

Mr Pérez delivered the constellation of stars he'd promised, the contingent of eternally injured flying (and bar-hitting) Dutchmen were partially offloaded, and the Madrid media keeps telling us that archrivals Barcelona lack enough quality players for such a long and demanding season.

However, the true Real Madrid fan knows better. I, for one, am terribly worried. There are too many loose ends for this experiment to work out. Just bear with me while I walk you through the main points of concern at the beginning of the 2009-2010 Real Madrid season:

1. The starting line-up is totally dysfunctional. Mr Pellegrini is trying to implement the team structure of his impressive Villarreal side, a 4-2-3-1. Xabi Alonso and Lassana Diarra play in front of the back four, while Kaká, Raúl González and Cristiano Ronaldo feed Karim Benzema and switch positions constantly. Whenever I read the starting line-up for a match, I can't avoid a huge grin of satisfaction. This is a seriously loaded side, who wouldn't love it?

But the feeling of joy lasts only until the game in question starts, and the theoretical 4-2-3-1 quickly becomes a chaotic 6-4. The four players up front were never known for their defensive discipline, and that forces Diarra and Alonso to fall back more often than desired. The team split in two, and the match immediately becomes an endless series of counter-attacks by both sides. Given the calibre of their forwards, Real Madrid should win plenty of entertaining matches this season, but the aforementioned 6-4 is hardly a good strategy when facing top-level sides.

There is a recent precedent of that type of (unintended) approach: my beloved Atlético de Madrid with old chap Javier Aguirre at the helm. After the 10th minute of each match, the front four (Kun Agüero, Diego Forlán, Simão Sabrosa and Maxi Rodríguez) would stop tracking back, and the counter attack carrousel begun. That Atlético side prevailed in several thrillers because of their huge amount of talent in the final third, but proved unable to beat any of the top-five teams, much more balanced in their tactical disposition. Why copy that Russian roulette approach when we already know it does not work?

Needless to add, and in my humble opinion, the only thing which Real Madrid should copy from the colchoneros is the splendid fried calamari sandwich available at the Vicente Calderón bars. Any other imitation of Atlético would be an embarrassing downgrade from 100+ years of glory.

In any case, it's blatantly clear that Real's starting eleven is not adequate for this formation. The gaffer needs to sort out this mess as early as possible. But can he? That is exactly my second point.

2. Pellegrini does not have the reins... yet. Florentino's signings were not restricted to the pitch. The galáctico in chief also brought back a bunch of former Real Madrid players, such as Jorge Valdano, Miguel Pardeza and Zinedine Zidane, in various (and probably conflicting) capacities to help with team management. All of them enjoy a decent amount of airtime with the president, and have had decisive roles in hirings and firings, at times overruling Pellegrini's opinion (i.e. the departure of Wesley Sneijder). Some sectors of the Madrid media even believe that the current team selection is heavily influenced by this group of advisors, which would explain the unbalanced starting line-up.

Even if this is the case, our Chilean gaffer does not seem the type of manager that would accept interference in his daily duties for too long. In Villarreal he showed he's been blessed not only with an enviable mop of hair, but also with the determination to bench his best player when necessary. Once he gets more confident with his surroundings, one of the front four should warm the bench, leaving space for Esteban Granero to bring more equilibrium to the side. At least that is what I keep telling myself...

3. The defence is a black hole. And that is quite an understatement. The 6-4 issue does not help the back four in an open game. Additionally, the team retain their recurring habit of conceding at least two chances on goal for each set piece taken by the opposite side. A lot of work to do here for Mr Pellegrini.

Every Real Madrid supporter thinks that the defence will get better when Pepe and Sergio Ramos come back from suspension and injury, respectively. Read that sentence again, please. Pepe and Sergio Ramos! The solution to our defensive woes depends on:

a. A 26-year-old centre back who, just over a couple of months ago, had a nervous breakdown in front of over 80,000 people, during which he repeatedly kicked an opponent in his back after having fouled him inside the penalty box, punched another opposition player in the face, left the pitch insulting the referee and some of his own teammates, and spent the following month pondering retirement from football as his most reasonable life choice.

b. A 23-year-old full-back who spends 80 minutes per match out of position, seems to believe he should score 30 goals per season, and keeps trying an annoying back heel dribble that every single player in all 208 FIFA countries knows how to defend at this point. Bernd Schuster, by his own right in the top three of both most lazy AND arrogant Real Madrid players ever, just publicly stated that Ramos "needs to work harder and be more humble". Ouch.

Well, things could be worse. For instance, Madrid's fantastic goalkeeper Iker Casillas could be in his worst shape since he joined the first team in 1999... Wait, he actually is!

4. Cristiano Ronaldo looks out of character in his Real Madrid shirt. When I saw his presentation at the Bernabéu, the first thing that struck me was the shape and size of his new shirt. We had just signed the only legitimate heir to David Beckham's King of Metrosexuals throne, and Mr Ronaldo looked like he'd borrowed a Real Madrid jersey from his older, severely overweight brother.

I wanted to believe that it was just a beta version of the 2009/10 uniform, but I was painfully wrong: he still wears that same baggy piece of clothing for each match. He is CR9, for the love of God! He NEEDS to look cool to play well. The current shirt has an impact on Ronaldo only comparable to that of a plain black tuxedo on Lloyd Christmas, Delilah applying a drastic haircut on Samson... you get my point.

No wonder his performance so far has been well below expectations. He looks awfully unhappy in that jersey. Let's get him a tight, pectoral show-off shirt, please. It's not that hard.

Don't let all the glamour and the upcoming endless collection of 5-2 wins over mid-table teams fool you. Unless the gaffer steers the ship in the right direction, Real Madrid run the risk of become an extremely expensive version of last year's Atlético de Madrid. As Real's neighbours know well, that doesn't win you any titles...

PS: By the way, I just remembered that the splendid fried calamari sandwich I mentioned earlier in the article is actually available at the Teresa Rivero Stadium bars (home to mighty Rayo Vallecano). My sincere apologies, I was getting my "other teams from Madrid" mixed up. I'll have to think of another thing to copy from Atlético... or maybe not.

First off the writer Eduardo Alvarez is an moron imo.

I understand what he means by 6-4 but that is such a simplistic way of looking at it. We are playing more like a 4-2-4 and the team does not split into 2 because we have no problems pinging the ball to the 4 forwards. But I definitely agree that it is unbalanced. I believe Pellegrini ought to tweak his tactics a little by putting another player in midfield. When Granero was brought on later in the Deportivo game you could see there was a better balance in the side.

And how someone can call himself a Madridista and suggest Pepe isn't good enough is beyond me. I can understand someone who watches EPL mainly saying that given that he most probably just saw the highlights to that Getafe game where he lost his head but his words just baffles me. It's not a coincidence that Guillem Balague named him in his La Liga team of the year for last season.

And to even try to suggest that Cristiano's shirt is to be blamed for his performances because he doesn't look "cool" enough is such ridiculous journalism that soccernet should seriously consider firing him and just let Phil Ball write articles about La Liga.

I read that article too, don't take it too seriously on CR9, just a joke i guess. But really, i can't help but think there's a slight element of truth where Real might struggle against the better teams. There's too much emphasize towards the attacking while defensively, they might struggle.

That's the thing you don't really know either whether it was a joke or he really meant it. That's bad journalism already in my book. We might struggle in some games mainly because the players haven't gelled. I doubt Pellegrini will stick with 4-2-4 against better teams.

Alot has been said about our "defensive" problems, but it's more about our balance more than anything. Sid Lowe even said in one of his articles that our problems are not in defence despite what people think. We do need to improve in defending set pieces but we are hardly the only team that has problems there (e.g. Liverpool)

i would think that the CR9 bit was a rather lame joke.

still, no one knows how to make a 4-2-3-1 system work defensively better than a certain Mr Benitez, and to be honest i do not like him much. He's an arse in my books.

you guys are free to go tap him up, but he'd probably go out and make kuyt his first signing laugh.gif

He may be Madrid boy through and through but he's never gonna work out here.

For me he plays more like a 4-4-1-1. He's very rigid about his system and his wingers do alot of work defensively which I think is at times unnecessary.

I don't think our passing was that bad. We mostly gave the ball away in the final third of the pitch. That's ok because the players aren't used to each other yet and to pull off quick combinations you need that level of understanding.

I think the backline should have pushed up a little further as there was alot of space in between the lines. We need to be alot more compact. Other than that it was a good day in the office for the boys. smile.gif

in da 1st half.. kaka was controlled by 2-3 defender.. his space are very limited.. to me.. cr9 is important to divert and spread an opponent defender equally.. so kaka will get more spaces.. this shown in da 2nd half as he was pretty awesome with 2 assist and some decent run..

nice job done... 1st goal from Zurich.. was clearly a dive.. but who cares as we brought back 3 point.. so 1 away game down.. 2 more to go.. if we can maintain this kind of performance and improve our back 4 area.. i believe.. this final.. we will play on our own pitch...

@ botaknet and others : for streaming channels you have a wide variety of options Here

For the match i will expect a victory with a nice game. I prefer winning 1-0 with a beautifull game than giving goleadas with poor game like all the first matches in Liga.

Hope to see El Pirata and El Pepita around for them to confirm their good form.

Pell' must also consider giving some minutes to RVN and M.Diarra for them to comeback in the competiton.

My prediction of the match will be a 3-1 due to the absence of the Key players of their teams such as Senna and others.

Tp finish i want to share with you all that Real Madrid released a new software for Ipod / Iphone called "
MyMadrid Application iPhone, iTouch". With the software you can : Have access to direct information live from the official website, Exclusives videos from Real Madrid TV, Pictures, official videos on youtube, Live macthes, comments and results, rankings and calendars, official chat with international fans, players file and more things like 3d goals etc.

The software cost 2,39 Euro. And you can get it on APPSTORE

Some Pictures of the application

Thx and see ya all .

Hala Madrid !!!!

For the streamix im using veetle ... must install a plugin of 2mo : http://www.veetle.com/viewChannel.php?cid=4ab086963f27c

channel 65179 on sopcast .
and many more here :

We became lazy after the goal .. Higuain has definetaly lost his from of the end of last season ... I think Pell' better take in Benzegoal or RVN ...

Fantastic CR9 ...

For Those St***d Astro, i dont know why they increase the bill if its to show us Marseille or Lyon playing if they wont show Liga everythime ... they really pi***d me off this time ...

We are playing a 4-2-3-1 while attacking and 4-3-3 defending . We could have killed the game after a good action of ronaldo and kaka bur higuain couldnt score. i think he his penalizing us today , he better get out for Benzegoal or RVN.

Villereal lost their prestige since Pell' left them they are doing a lot of faults, and they got a red card in defence ... which is somehow an advantage for us.

RVN is injured so it's either Benzema or Raul. And it's not like Benzema has been in blistering form. He was largely anonymous in the last game until he scored.

Yeah but he was participating in the game ... This Higuain i think he his affected by Maradona who lelft him out .. and he has pressure. Evrything he does is useless ... At this moment of the game , Guti , Higuain and Gago have to go on the banch .. we are loosing the ball possession.

Note that their goal keeper is from our Cantera and was formed by Real Madrid.

Pell' heard me , Raul is in .. and i bet a goal of raul ... wait and see.

wow 1st goal from CR9 is truly worldclass....he ran from the middle and blasting a rocket shot from outside penalty box.

i wonder why he gave to kaka to take penalty spot..he could scores twice..
anyway,i hope it one of good sportmanship from him.

Hi guys ..

We are all pretty confident about the match even though i am personally afraid of two players in OM which are Niang and Mbia. Since Lass is not playing this match, we can't expect to be as strong as usual in the midfield.

I just can't understand how can Astro show Apoel Nicosie v Chelsea while there is a Real Madrid Vs Marseille.

For those of you who don't have the streaming you can check HERE just type Real in the reseach bar and click on the match, you will have a list were you if you have TVU , you choose TVU link. there is also Sopcast and even links were you dont need a tv software.

Since, i know here in this country internet connection is an issue, i will suggest you to go for the ones with the lowest kbps.

Our team has done the offical team picture you can see the video HERE . From that video we can see that the team has a good ambiance and they are all in good terms.

It's an ankle sprain (because of Diawara's tackle). It's not that serious but I don't think we'll risk him for the next game.

Sevilla has got good wingers but Marcelo made it way too easy for Navas. It's one of the reasons why he's never convinced me as a fullback. He doesn't even have his basics right. Even Drenthe would have done better.

Arbeloa has played more times at LB than Ramos has. He's also a far more solid defender.

Another thing that concerns me is our lack of width especially when Ronaldo is not on the pitch like today. It's the missing piece in our team. Someone like Mata or Silva would do wonders for us. Just a thought.

Garay has recovered from his niggle; Van Nistelrooy, Gago, Guti, Metzelder and Ronaldo are injured

Manuel Pellegrini has called-up 18 men for tomorrow's 20:00 CET match against Valladolid at the Bernabeu. Lass and Arbeola are the new faces on the squad list after missing the clash in Seville due to being injured. Garay has recovered from the niggle that prevented him from training on Thursday and has also made the cut. Cristiano Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy, Guti, Metzelder and Gago are all injured and will therefore miss the match. Adan has been left out for coaching decisions.

SQUAD LIST for tomorrow's game.

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Dudek
Defenders: Ramos, Pepe, Arbeloa, Marcelo, Albiol, Garay, Drenthe
Midfielders: Diarra, Lass, Granero, Kaka, Van der Vaart, Xabi Alonso
Forwards: Raul, Higuain, Benzema

Hola,

The match today has shown the same weaknesses that we have since the beginning of this season : we are not organise , we dont have a leader ( unfortunately Kaka is not Zizou).

If Valladolid plays us like this at HOME, till they scored twice while we were having our best defense , sorry we can't do anything against the "big" teams.

Marcelo is definitely made for "small" teams , once he faces people like Jesus Navas or any other winger he is awful. For today his has done a great match offensively.

we have the potential of having a beautiful game but i still dont figure out why can't we play even like how valencia is playing now against barcelona.

Im i dreaming ?? it seems im watching the real madrid of Juande Ramos

To console myself i will consider the fact that most them played last week with their national teams. i will also say that our job was the three points and we got them, hopefully barcelona will loose tonight.

i forgot RAUUULLLL, men, this guy is a legend !!! 711 official games with Real Madrid, 320 goals and 15 years wearing the white jersey , Thank you Raul G. Blanco .

Looking forward to watch a real football game against AC Milan because i still can understand how can Valladolid plays us like that and at home.

Hala Madrid !

i actually think we played a pretty good game tho .. i agree that sometimes the back can be troubling but it wasnt for most of the match... the 2 goals we conceded were just a good strike and bad luck .. nothing more.. our second goal was my most favourite goal.. awesome passing..

Ronaldo kena sihir

“Dia menelefon saya tiga kali,” katanya.

“Kali terakhir dia menelefon, hanyalah untuk memberitahu dia berpuas hati dengan kerja saya.”

AC deserve their win
time after time pato have been left alone with no people closing him down or marking him
but what i hate the most is ronaldinho pushing raul head while others is arguing he should be given a straight red

For the last 30 mins sure Milan deserved it. But before that they didn't even have a shot on goal. It's perplexing how we let our heads drop after Pirlo scored. Kaka was doing his best impression of a 12th Milan player, Benzema was just out of it, and Casillas of all people decided to have an awful game.

not really bad for me, but milan take advantages when our boost become low, we got solid defence since 1st half... when our tempo become slow, we deserve for their punishment.. that's always being a tactical way from a team that have good defending + counter style play.

haha.. i know someone will said like that.. but, based on to night and previous match.. that what can i say.. we meet 2 decent team and we lost both.. and the worst is.. we lost to milan in our own pitch.. seriously, with to night milan performance.. other team can thrash then easily.. but not us.. we are struggle to win.. that the problem.. seem like Manuel Pellegrini is not a missing puzzle of our or maybe not yet..

at first im start feeling the ref were at milan side when benzema clearly foul by zambrotta, we should have penallty kick..

how come we just have one subs? sometimes im thinkin pelligrini will sub raul and partner up benzema + higuain at 2nd half, but he never done it sad.gif

lets lookin forward next gijon match.. as verx said.. we still need to gel our team a lot... too early to predict anything..

It's just one game and one that doesn't dent our chances of qualifying to the next stage too much. Mistakes can be worked upon. Tactics can be changed. And we will win more games than lose at the end of the day. We can win at Milan as well.

simple.. pelligrini will not sub raul as he is the one who score for us.. and he is not dare enough to change tactic like JM did when he managed chelsky... and now.. im realize that we are depending too much on CR9.. previously,, i tot.. we can manage without cr9.. but.. im totally wrong.. and im wrong BIG TIME..

As u said, based on current performance, then why are u whining constantly. Form is temporary. I'm sure you've watched football long enough to know that things change quickly in football. And it's no point winning against big clubs if u can't win against small clubs either especially if u want to win the league. We'll get there eventually but for now Pellegrini has to make some tough decisions.

im not whining.. im just expressing my feeling as currently, our team are not performing well.. and yup.. everything can happen in football, but that not even can satisfy me and maybe thousand RM fan.. i want something that proven.. something exist.. and what i mean by that is convincing performance.. i dont care if we lose.. but ..with head up high.. with good performance.. we are team with bunch of star player and what do u expect? only win against small club?

come on.. and we know that, wining against small club is a MUST to win the title and win against other top gun will give u brighter chance to go on top... how can we win the title if we lose everytime we face good team? and that why.. for the past 8 years we are still waiting for our 10th CL title.. becoz we are actually not good enough for that.. and this year.. once again.. i bet we will stuck at 2nd round..IF we are still the same team as we perform last night.. sigh..

last night, milan was just a normal team.. but we lose to them becoz we are even worst than them. maybe we can say that, they are lucky enough to win becoz mistakes of casillas, but.. i cant see whether we can score last night..

i dono.. i really hope.. Pelligrini will do something.. something big to fix current situation.. for the past 9 weeks.. i cant see any special of him.. doh.gif

You should know that we are still on the early stage of becoming a 'team'. But, as far as I'm concerned we got good chances to score, 13 corners to milan were 3, 18 shots to 9. We also got a better possesion than they are, i just thought that we did not have that cutting edge with Raul and Benzema clearly not a good partnership.

come on.. and we know that, wining against small club is a MUST to win the title and win against other top gun will give u brighter chance to go on top... how can we win the title if we lose everytime we face good team? and that why.. for the past 8 years we are still waiting for our 10th CL title.. becoz we are actually not good enough for that.. and this year.. once again.. i bet we will stuck at 2nd round..IF we are still the same team as we perform last night..  sigh..

last night, milan was just a normal team.. but we lose to them becoz we are even worst than them. maybe we can say that, they are lucky enough to win becoz mistakes of casillas, but.. i cant see whether we can score last night..

i dono.. i really hope.. Pelligrini will do something.. something big to fix current situation.. for the past 9 weeks.. i cant see any special of him..  doh.gif
*
We lost to them because of our defensive mistakes. I don't see how you can say we were worse than them when they were utter shit in the first 60 mins. We did have our chances and I don't see how you can say that you dunno whether we can score when we actually scored 2 goals. The chemistry up front is not there yet and that is understandable. What is more of a bigger concern is the balance in the side. With the formation we are playing, either one of the 2 AMs or both have to help out defensively by getting behind the ball. Defending with just 6 players is just ridiculous at this level.

*
maybe 7 weeks is too early to judge.. maybe u r right.. but for these 7 weeks.. our performance are replicate one another.. nothing change.. it is not too obvious when cr9 on da pitch.. but when he is off.. we are nothing.. huuuuu

Do not compare the stats as it is nothing to reflect the real match.. i'll give u an example.. 13 corner to 3.. but 3 from milan produce 1 goal, fortunately, denied by the reff becoz of i dono why.. and as a RM fan, im feeling lucky for that.. and shot.. 18 to 9.. how many shot of ours are really threatening? as far as i can remember.. only alonso's shot was good enough to give us goal.. but where is the others 18 shot?

marcelo's shot was just a normal shot with power.. so dida has no chance beside to punch it.. and milan? out of 9.. some of them can lead to back of the net.. zambrota's shot, pato.. denied by casillas..

haha.. i cant believe that im complaining about my fav team.. REAL MADRID.. maybe im too tired to wait for result. and i hope u guys are right..

You say stats don't reflect the real match. Then what is the real match? Cause Milan did nothing most of it. Sure they had good chances later on in the game but that's only because we lost control of the game and let them into it. Kaka and Raul had a few decent chances. Even Benzema had a decent shot on target. You can't discount all those if you include Zambrotta's speculative long range effort as a good chance for them. Pirlo's goal came out of nowhere and that changed the game. Just take a chill pill ok

Cristiano Ronaldo Cursing His Luck After Witch's Spell - Report

The world's most expensive player has been tackled by something other than an opposing player...

Cristiano Ronaldo may put fans under his spell with his magic and trickery on the ball, but he is now the subject of a curse that a witch claims is going to ruin his career.

The Portuguese star has been ruled out for four weeks with an ankle injury, and though many felt it was down to a hefty tackle, there may be more to it than that.

Nway... i can see at least the team got a lil bit of pace improvement and aggressiveness on pressuring.
And also I saw "old madrid style" (slow + not pressure) in Milan team. Lucky they got Nesta n co. doing a good job in defense.

no lassana diarra
no typical winger (CR)
no power horse striker (benzema, higuain)

we suffered very bad performance tonite..
what a boring game.. our midfield dead in the sand..

pellegrini formation doesnt make it at all...

m.diarra too slow, his type of passing not favor me.. his type of control ball not as he good doing over last two season..

the injury the problem always haunted our team.

the result 0-0 really make me unhappy sad.gif
this team we crash 4-0 last season rite...

i dont like to complain about the club.. i would be the last one to possibly do so.. but today was one of the worst i have seen... altho we didnt concede .. it was bad... its like seeing an inverted real .. we had the opposite of wat we had last season... lots of possession but nothing more.. even with the possession its like gift wrapping whatever left to gijon.. bad passing.. bad finishing and still very shoddy defence.. i think we should seriously think about getting carlos back for free.. lol ..

i dont think i would wanna blame pellegrini .. but it seems that whomever the club gets prolly wont suite us.. except for Vicente DelBosque at the top of my mind.. i think we should just let MR.P do his job.. its already hard trying to make the team play together well .. its even harder getting suggestions on how he should do his job.. anyways.. continue the support

HALA MADRID!

Some of the comments here are ridiculous. It's an away draw and Sporting are a better team than last season. Before the season started ppl were saying that we need to be patient and that it takes time to build a team. That's all gone out the window now. It's still just October and everyone is crying out doom and gloom. You feel like deja-vu? Remember how long a Ronaldinho-led Barca took to start playing well under Rijkaard? When Del Bosque took over it was not all bed and roses at the beginning. He even played 5 at the back when he took over.

true.. i rewatched the match and we didnt play that bad actually... especially away. Yeah its only october.. and its basically a brand new squad if you asked me.. Del bosque had the back problem but he knew that if he had 5 at the back and r.carlos who could run like a goat out of hell he would be pretty much having an insurance policy ... i think that we should have a sweeper.. just in case.. cause sometimes it seems that the middle of the penalty box is really empty tho..

anyways.. anyone know whether theyre gonna be streaming tonight's match?

LOL I didn't catch the match but even I'm embarassed by the scoreline. Ah well I guess that puts an end to a horrible October for us. The players have to buck up big time. Maybe this score would just do it as I'm sure there's alot of hurt pride

Spanish Cup: Real Madrid battered by Alcorcon
By Reuters

Real Madrid suffered an astonishing 4-0 defeat at third-tier side Alcorcon in the King's Cup on Tuesday, humiliated in the first leg by a club with a budget more than 400 times smaller than the La Liga giants.

The Madrid players were stunned by a first-half blitz from the minnows.

• Pellegrini embarrassed, Valdano sorry

Real were missing their two most expensive signings, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, as well as several other key players, but were undone by a club with a €1.1 million ($1.6 million) annual budget compared to Real's €420 million.

It was the third defeat in five matches for Manuel Pellegrini's side and piled more pressure on the Chilean coach after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Sporting Gijon and last week's 3-2 home defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.

A fired-up Alcorcon, who play in the same league as Real's youth team Castilla, laid siege to the visitors' goal in the frantic early stages, forcing Jerzy Dudek into a couple of smart saves with shots from distance.

Former Real youth player Borja Gomez gave Alcorcon a shock lead in the 16th minute when he cut in from the right and curled a precise shot into the bottom left corner.

Spain defender Alvaro Arbeloa inexplicably clipped the ball into his own net six minutes later before Fernando Bejar headed against Dudek's leftpost.

Ernesto Gomez made it three five minutes before the break, sidefooting home Diego Cascon's cross from the right, and Borja pounced on a loose ball to make it four in the 52nd minute.

Pellegrini replaced Raul with Ruud van Nistelrooy with just under 20 minutes left as Real searched desperately for a goal. Alcorcon keeper Juanma palmed the Dutchman's shot on to a post with four minutes remaining but Real were unable to find a goal ahead of the the second leg at the Bernabeu in two weeks.

Madrid's neighbours Atletico, under new coach Quique Sanchez Flores for the first time, fared much better with a 2-0 win at Marbella thanks to Troyana's own goal and a late strike from Maxi Rodriguez.

Luis Fabiano and Jesus Navas each bagged a brace as Sevilla won 4-2 at Ciudad de Lorqui, while Recreativo Huelva and Sporting Gijon played to a 1-1 draw.

Pellegrini embarrassed, Valdano sorry

Pellegrini said in quotes reported by Marca: "I'm very embarrassed. There's no reason or explanation for how the team have performed. You have to stand up and everyone has to take responsibility to change things in the next game.

"There's no explanations. We were focused and the training sessions were very good, but Alcorcon played very well. We hope our fans can forgive us after this defeat.''

Pellegrini is no stranger to cup shocks, having been in charge of a Villarreal outfit that were trounced 5-0 by Segunda Division B Polideportivo Ejido at the same stage of last year's competition before going out 6-1 on aggregate.

Madrid, who have not won the Copa del Rey since 1993, were also the victims of an upset last season as they were knocked out at the fourth-round stage by another third tier side, Real Union, on away goals after drawing 5-5 on aggregate.

Pellegrini said: "Our opponents...we've seen it 3,200 times before. A team who were tremendously motivated and were able to play at their best. I saw them in recent games, we had reports, but they played very well.

"We need to react. We are going to find difficult opponents all over the place. We need to play well everywhere." Regarding his future at the club, the Chilean insisted he would not be stepping down, adding: "I am not thinking about my job or about resigning, only the next match.''

Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano has apologised to his club's supporters following the humiliating 4-0 Copa del Rey defeat to third division Alcorcon. Valdano said after the match: ''It's difficult. I know how the Madrid fans must be feeling and we apologise to them.''

Valdano believes Madrid can still turn the tie around in the second leg at the Bernabeu in a fortnight though, and also gave his backing to under-pressure coach Pellegrini.

''This team is made of up good players and great professionals who are capable of turning this situation around. They are proud players and today we've had really a bad night. ''We have to be united. And when I say united, I include the coach in that,'' added Valdano on his club's website.

Even Selangor Fc also could win that real Madrid yesterday ! they were awfull , no game plans , nothing. Some of them were walking on the pitch .

It seems those players , they think that their History and they white jersey will play for them , They forget that Clubs like Gijon or Alcorn are training every day to win us, so that they will have free publicity.

It is at 80% because of pell'. Im not saying that they must fire him , but the guy has already 4 month with the teams at least he should know them now. he doesnt have a strategy, he doesnt put players in their real position . Granero is not a winger, Kaka neither. Raull ??? he is tired, i recognise he is a great striker , but he shouldnt play 90mins each match.

Seriously i miss Roben. This team needs a winger (cr9 is enough as we can see, when he is not there, we dont play football at all). and a left back .
Its a shame for us to loose against this small team, but it is better now than later in the season . because now we needed a shock to realise that we still have players but not a team. Lets give them chances , but seriously we need to comback.

Hala Madrid for life.

4-0 is a big loss but for you guys to score back 5 should be no problem with the attacking power you guys got le. but one thing you guys dont do too well in this king's cup right

There is nothing like 1st eleven. The team we used yesterday is team that can play liga and champions league. All of them are used by the club in liga and C1 . This is not an excuse.

to me.. im really dont bother if we lose king's cup as we are really bad in this competition for so many years back.. but, we lose to team that actually we simply can trash them.. that the problem.. our problem is remain the same.. defend.. and to me.. both of our right and left back..

i donot understand, why the hell is pellegrini still using wing back to attack.. why don just let them defend and do their job.. just left an attacking part to winger as we do have wingers in our formation..

4-2-2-2 formation just didnt work for us.. i prefer we use 4-5-1 as kaka as center attacking and seriously, i demand a changes in next match.. even, i think.. we will lose to getafe.. huuuuuuu

That article was well written and it echoes what many have said: the front 4 aren't doing enough defensively; relying on 6 players to defend is almost suicide at the top level. It's understandable if it's a counter attack after we throw ppl forward but currently it seems that every attack that opposition teams throw against us has us outnumbered and that isn't right.

this situation happen for past many years back.. except during capello era.. and as written, our fwd must aggressively win back the ball and not just let midfielder and defender do that...

Raul said they can turn the result on 2nd leg at bernabeu...but we must remember last season, againts Real Union; RM lost 3-2 at away. at home RM was leading 4-2 on 86', but eventually Real Union scored on 90' to make it 4-3. hope history will not repeated blush.gif

Calcio Debate: Juventus v Sampdoria Proves That Ciro Ferrara Must Stick With 4-2-3-1 - this article was referring to juve n barca..maybe RM shud apply this formation too... rclxms.gif

ur right. IMO Real oso got the type of player dat suitable for 4-2-3-1 formation.

Lass---Alonso
Granero---Kaka---Ronaldo

Benzema(CF)

**eventually theres always someone gotta be unhappy with lack of playing time tongue.gif

casillas - marcelo,pepe,albiol,ramos - lass,xabi - granero,kaka,cr - benzema

higuain can replace benzema @ granero position.vdv replace kaka.

Barca didnt play with 4-2-3-1, we only play with one DM so the formation was 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-2-1
btw i just watch Alcorcon-Madrid highlight and u have serious problem on left side, most of the goal start from that side, Marcelo also the weakest link so far this season, maybe this winter Pallegrini should spend some money for LB

The papers say that but at the end it's up to Perez and so far he hasn't said anything of the like in public. But it's hard not to trust them if Pellegrini for example loses the next 2 matches.

agreed.. last night performance was a good performance after emberassing lost to third tier club, i like how we dominate midfield, how out fwd working.. that why we have to bench raul and other old player, our counter was quite deadly as we almost score 3rd goal from papita.

what i realize, our wing back were not overlaping too high, crosing usually made from center half field, and overall.. we did a good job last night.

but, one thing i hate to see about our madrid, some of player were lazy, sor instance.. marcelo.. after losing ball, he just walk like nothing hapepen, what the hell was he thinking?

anyway, i want to see more when we meet milan, this will show how good we are. Hala Madrid!! 1 point gap smile.gif

We are playing to redecorate our image in Europe,

The most dangerous player in their team is definitely Pato, this guy can drible, and score anytime when those Pirlo , Seedorf or Ronnie will send the ball.

I hope that PELL' will keep the same formation that we used last week against getafe , because that game plan suits each and everyone of our players.

If marcelo is Leflt Back, trust me we will loose, that guy is made to play infront on the wings. .

I also Hope that Ac Milan fans wont whistle at Kaka , because we need in our team to give the ball to our strikers.

Ok, see you later and Hala Madrid !!!

Formation according to Djmas :

------------------------Casillas-------------------------------
---Albiol------Pepe------------Ramos----------Arbeloa----
------------Lass----------------------Xabi--------------------
Higuain----------------Kaka-------------------Marcelo------
---------------------------Benzema--------------------------

If, you see this first11 on the picht , you can even bet your hourse , dont worry El Real madrid, wont losse tonight. Lol.

Hala madrid !

Seriously damn this referee I hate him for giving so much advantages.

So far we played very well but a bit shaky at back 4.

A lot of shot off/on goal. Nice try mr Kaka.

Pato did nudge Arbeloa's back with his knee when he jumped which was what the ref blowed for. The pen however was non-existent. And before the pen Milan were absolutely nowhere to be seen. If we were more ruthless it would have been over in the first 20 mins. If there's anyone that should count their lucky stars it's Milan.

Madrid and Milan played a very good game in 1st half and 2nd half respectively but, for me Milan had two different successful half and Madrid have only one.

I REALLY thought things are gonna change with Madrid's gameplay at the second half and yes it did and as the game grows, our strikers tend to be wingers and we rolled our pass in front of 7 or 8 Milan players. and we lost the ball once we pass it to the center and Milan starts to counter. This happens fro several times until we started to play long ball later in the game which btw, made us look more pathetic. I don't understand why we let them defend at our own game. If we launch a counter attack (which we did and Kaka took more than half of the responsibility for ruining it) we could have won the game.

Simple but effective. Think of this. We have very fast offensive players of which their ball controls are not even close to bad compared to their players. We have a long ball specialist. Place all the fast players wider and we have ourselves a great counter attack team.

Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: looking forward to this weekends game for it'll be a very interesting Derby.

@gto87:
The thing is Milan played like how Italian teams have played against us the past few years regardless if they are playing at home ie defending deep with at least 7 players behind the ball most of the time. Even for the goal we scored Kaka had to get past 2 players 1st before unleashing his shot.

The problem with the our 2nd half was our tempo and intensity dropped big time. Whether it was a fitness issue I'm not sure but the ball needs to move alot faster in the final third which was what we did in the 1st half. Currently it seems the only player capable of keeping that intensity for 90 mins is Lass. The other players would do well to take a leaf out of his book.

That's what I'm talking about, We know they're an Italian team, and we know damn well they gonna sit back, defend and counter us whenever they got the chance. So why don't we sit back and let them attack a bit and we'll hit them on counter.

If you guys remember, not a while ago, we used to launch similar attacks when we're under Schuster's tenure. Robinho and Nistelrooy were very clinical at that time and compare that line up to what we have today, I think we can fire at least 2 goals past Milan or any other team.

Well, like you said maybe it's fitness problem or maybe not, we'll never know, but one thing we do know that, we have a lot of potential in this team and I don't like to see it to be wasted. Don't get me wrong here, I never underestimated Pellegrini, but I expected a lot better from him.

I hope Perez will be patient and throw his axe away so that we can really bring stability to the team.

Soo sad , he can miss the clasico against barcelona.

Anyway , Pell' must find someways to play now without him , because he is uncertain for at least a month or even more according to Goal.

It's just a difference in philosophy. We could have sat back but then the game would have most likely ended up in a boring draw. Milan were definitely not going to throw many players forward and inviting pressure is a dangerous game for us. If there's one thing Milan are better than us it's that their backline is more organised. We are just a few steps away from being a team that pins opponents to their half. Isn't that what you would prefer to see?

I agree with your last line, I do want to see it happen.

But I don't think letting the opponent attack while having our backfour with 2 DMs at the back as inviting pressure, I think solving counter attacks with only 3 players at the back is inviting more pressure. But maybe that's just me. That said I'm not asking us to be more defensive. I'm saying that instead of just giving time to the defenders to gel, why don't we prevent the goal first.

We can't always prevent the opponent from scoring. But if we counter them for each time they attack, plus with the players we got, I'm pretty much sure, we'll be in comfort zone before the ref blows his final whistle.

But, I respect your opinion verx, everybody have their own opinion on the team's strategy, but somehow I find yours is in need of a very lengthy period and mine is the short term solution, agree?

That's the thing about football. Guillem Balague has a saying: Football is like a small blanket. If you cover the head you expose the feet and vice versa. Having a backfour and DM sit back at all times means you're going to concede the midfield to opponents. You're giving control over and believe me it won't be counter attacks that will be giving you headaches then. The reason why we have 3 or 4 players only back at times is because we are trying to win the ball further up the field. The problem is we haven't reached the proper organisation needed yet. If you've watched Barcelona play before they have this down to perfection.

That's only possible if our opponents throw players forward at us which I would think is highly unlikely most of the time. Most teams would take a draw against us but we can't afford that luxury if we want to win something this year.

It's not a question of long term or short term. We are playing with a new system and we need to put it into practice for us to get better at it. It's counter productive to practice another strategy cause then we won't ever be better at what we are trying to accomplish.

I watched Barca played before and what I can say is they cut down the opponents attack way before they even planned to launch one and that's what you mean it. I get it. But, ever wonder why they win the ball most of the time? It's because their forwards helped the MFs to pressure the opponents player who's in possession and narrowed down the gap before he can even think of doing something. That's what it takes if we really wanna win the ball up front. The forwards must work together. But in Madrid, apart from Raul, this is a very rare thing to happen. So, why waste so many players up front when only Lass is doing that job. It's like when the opponent get the ball, they bypassed all our MFs with one quick counter not because they literally quick and not because they're good in counter attacks. No, that's not it. It's because our MFs is simply too lazy to chase the ball and they think it's the defenders responsibility to do the chasing, tackling and winning the ball.

So, I say we agree to disagree on the highly unlikely part. I assumed that you had watched all the madrid match including Madrid vs Gijon match, vs Sevilla, vs Alcorcon, vs Getafe, vs Deprotivo. Ok, you can clearly see that all these teams were given space to attack, and by space I don't mean just for counter attack, they really did came forward, string a few passes in front of our goal and at some point in the game, they even had all their 5 or 6 forwards in our half switching the ball from right to left vice versa with us just watching and waiting for the right moment to snatch it. Given the chance, even a team like Alcorcon will attack us and they did just that.

Barca never allowed such attacks and to prevent them they used their forwards wisely, cut you down before you can grow~

If I'm not mistaken, Ramos will not be available for the match against Alcorcon and that means he can play against Racing Santander next weekend.

A player who is dismissed from the field of play for receiving a second caution in the same match will be suspended automatically from all approved first team matches commencing forthwith, until such time as his club’s first team has completed its next match in an approved competition.

I can't find any proof for that, but I'm pretty much sure that's the case for every league in Europe. smile.gif

I'm really getting tired of reading this thing over and over again. I think you are better than your own coach, Guardiola, when even he himself stated that Pellegrini has to be given more time to make 'it' happen.

Please, and please I'm begging you guys, if you have nothing to say other than bashing us, than you're almost good for nothing here, I'm trying real hard to be very polite. Please post a constructive post.

Thanks~

Ronaldo back in training but still misses play-off

QUOTE
Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training with his Real Madrid team-mates for the first time since injuring his ankle in late September. He will still, however, miss Portugal's World Cup play-off with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The £80 million world record signing suffered the injury in a Champions League clash with Marseille on September 30 but was put through his paces at Real's Valdebebas training complex today, taking part in some ball work.

Ronaldo's injury became the subject of controversy earlier this month when Portugal tried to call him up for duty in their World Cup qualification play-off with Bosnia-Herzegovina. He had risked the injury during his country's crucial final group game with Hungary in October but had broken down by half-time, causing an almighty club v country row.

This time, the player has ultimately remained with Real, while Portugal narrowly won the first leg of the play-off without him.

The bus?? huh? The didn't even defended that hard. They looked more organized than us, that's for sure.

But Pellegrini disappoint me again. Why? Think again, we need to score goals, to be accurate, more than 4 goals without conceding any. In order to do that he fielded two 32 years old strikers which one of them just came back from a very long injury, 2 DMs (Diarra & Gago) and a playmaker who never did made anything (Kaka).

Kaka's move is predictable, and most of the counter attack will end up with a miss pass by him. My comment about Kaka might sounded harsh to many of you, but please watch Madrid's game in which he played. You'll understand why I'm saying this. Don't get me wrong, he is good, he did well but sometimes he can do much better with simplifying his gameplay.
-The end-

Btw, Raul Albiol took a knock in his latest match for Spain. It's been said that he will not be available for this weekend's match. I'm not posting the URL because I want to wait for the actual report 1st.

Drenthe was hardly superb. He gave us balance and width on the left side but his end product was abysmal. Many times he found himself in a good position but he wouldn't cross it or held the ball too long. Just poor decision making all around. And the only reason Marcelo was "solid" was because Drenthe was there ahead of him to give him some support.

That said we dominated the game but we should have killed the game earlier. Instead we gave ourselves a scare allowing Racing a chance to get back at us and they even had a wrongly disallowed goal. But the win is a fair result in the end.
