I read that there isn't any problem with JB 3.0.1 now even with the current version of redsn0w.

My iPhone 3GS shows "Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service".

3G and Edge are both turned on using sbsettings.

My cellular data settings are:
APN: unet
Username: maxis
Password: wap

Should be correct right? I'm using 3.0.1 jailbroken using redsn0w.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

update: i'm using a hotlink prepaid sim btw. I tried changing APN to "net" and it works but i'm not sure whether i'll get charged for that. Supposedly free data 500mb per month.

Please check the number format for your contacts. Sometimes when importing contacts the format screws up.

what i meant is how are your contact numbers like? +60123456789 or 0123456789 etc..
you either need to have the +6 or delete it and it should work.

I had identical problem like yours dude. Try this:

http://www.modmyi.com/forums/web-apps/1059...ind-server.html

I followed the advice from viral_dna in the forum and it worked!

Is your security WEP or WPA? I was told it's better to change it to WPA/WPA2.

Thanks but actually i was referring to 3G not wifi. tongue.gif
I am using WPA btw for my wifi.

Mine has the gap too. My 3G also has it. As monster said, only visible under a bright light so if you're taking a picture, you'll need to over expose to be able to see it.

Mine has the gap too... but it's negligible actually. I didnt actually notice until i read this thread sweat.gif

Location Service got on or not? unsure.gif

Yes location services are on. Do i need to get outdoors under the clear blue sky and use 3G for it to locate me?

APN: net
Username: maxis
Password: wap

I can get 3G/EDGE/GPRS data with those settings above. Should be correct... no?

APN: unet

Okay kinda weird now. I changed APN to unet and used wifi at home and it managed to locate me. Then i changed APN back to net and tried the maps application again and it works now.

The reason why i use net instead of unet is because somehow 3G/EDGE doesnt work with unet but it works with net. Not sure if this has got to do with my hotlink sim card being an older version one (need to pay RM25 to upgrade wor >.<).

Thanks guys for the help.

sorry for reposting but my question was moved to this thread, just in case anyone missed it.. i still haven't been able to solve this problem. Thx in advance for any help.

My sister had this problem yesterday too using an iPhone 2G on fw3.0. No idea what is causing the sms to be delayed. Maybe its just maxis problem coz earlier there were no such issues.

I upgraded mine recently as my old SIM card is too old that the iPhone 3GS detect it as SIM Locked. The difference is a switch from 64k SIM card to 16k SIM card. Fees is RM10 only.

64k to 16k?? isnt that like downgrading?

Is there any good sms application around (appstore or cydia)?
something that has better capabilities (eg. detailed timestamps or templates?). I dont really fancy the chat style interface of the default sms application.

Try iReal SMS it's in Cydia and Rock application. Been using it for a few months!!
*
I was using iRealSMS before and i noticed it makes the phone really hot. After i uninstalled it then it doesnt become hot anymore.

Did u experience it before? This is only in firmware 3.0. I used the same application way back in 2.2.1 before and no issues.

@sokryswaslike,
As long as Ur using Maxis, U should have no problems with the settings; it's been preset for U.  U will only be able to fiddle with that Cellular Data Network settings if U JB ur phone.
*
Need to JB phone? i thought just need to do the carrier bundle support with the ipcc file.

@achew,
Internet Tethering via USB doesn't require iTunes; only BT would require it, I think.
*
Actually it's the other way around. You can tether using BT without itunes. Basically internet tethering via USB requires the Apple mobile driver (or bonjour or something in the backend) installed. So the alternative is install itunes then uninstall it. You will still be able to tether in that way.

Any idea if it's possible to have a different format for mobile phone numbers instead of +60-1-23456789?
Something like +(60)12 3456789 or +6012-3456789 would be easier to read.
