iPhone Generation :2G 16G
Unlocked? (or Part Number): <It is imperative to fill this up; artificially unlocked iPhones (via software or hardware) do not constitute as officially unlocked. Refer to the next paragraph to determine your Part Number>
Current Firmware :previously unlocked and JB'd to 3.0 but was accidentally updated via iTunes9 to 3.1 and is now bricked.
iTunes Version :Mac (iTunes9)/ PC (iTunes 8)
PC/MAC :both
Jailbreaking software :QuickPwn
Problem Encountered :cannot get iTunes to detect the iphone
Steps Taken So Far :was using MobileMe to lock the phone in case it is lost. since the phone screen only shows the 'emergency calls only' there is no way to key in the password. so, i wiped out all data via MobileMe. Itunes 8 still cannot detect the iphone and still giving me the "sim card inserted into the iphone does not appear to be supported" message. i am using DiGi.
Screenshot of Problem(if applicable) :not possible since i cannot see the menu at all.
Other Information/Remarks :have tried searching the forum but with >113 pages, i may have missed it;)

would appreciate some assistance or a point to the correct forum links.

much tx

Since yours is the 1st gen phone, updating the firmware without waiting for a jailbreak solution is definitely a NO NO. It's because 1st gen iPhone need to be hacktivated (activated with a modified cert). Thats why you are stuck on the emergency call only.

Solution:
1. Wait for Dev Team to release jailbreak tool
2. Downgrade to 3.0.1 and rejailbreak

Good luck

yup, i learned a hard lesson;)
got confused since i had just updated my 3G phone:)

anyways, when you say downgrade to 3.0.1, do you mean that i need not downgrade it to 1.1.3 etc first and go upwards? thot i'd have to follow the sequence and all.
but if i only need to downgrade to 3.0.1 straight away, i'm really glad to hear that!
