1. upon the complete restoration, did iTunes prompt you to download the latest carrier settings?

2. despite not being able to send the MMS, are you able to use the network's connection to surf the net (on safari, youtube et cetera via 3G, edge, gprs)?

1. nope, there was no prompt.
2. cant use network conn. either to surf. msg pop up "Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service" sad.gif

well makes sense then.

you have to restore again unfortunately, and make sure your MAC/PC connection to the net is stable during the activation process. would be wise to make sure that your maxis sim card is inside the iPhone as well.

once you have downloaded the relatively small patch, you can then proceed to use your previous backup.

for further information, head over here

yes. for further understanding, just read the link that i have supplemented you with.

without a network connection, MMS will not work, but not the vice versa (having a network connection, does not necessarily guarantee the success of MMS)

oh tough luck then.

maybe wait for someone who is actually on maxis to comment.

because AFAIK, for my both 3G (from SingTel) and 3G S (from optus), each time i perform a restore, a prompt will definitely occur for me to download it.

oic. anyways, appreciate the assist. hope someone frm maxis willl shed some light on this matter. cheers

i found a solutions how to enable maxis mms for OS3.1/MAXIS 5.0 ..

1. Power off 3gs
2. Switch to non maxis sim card
3. Turn on 3gs and go to General>Network>Cellular Data network> Leave Blank all field except 2 below:
    - MMSC: http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc
    - MMS Proxy: 202.75.133.49
*You will see the MMS Proxy: 202.75.133.49:80 (remove the red)
4. Return back to Home Screen and power off the 3gs
5. Switch back to maxis sim card and Turn on
6. That's it.. it work for me

If your dont have other telco sim card, maybe u have to full restore your 3gs.

Ok thx. will try this method. in my case, i keep getting the pop up msg "Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service" for both sending mms as well as access web via safari browser. Did u get that msg previously?

i indirectly discovered a solution to re-enable maxis mms/safari browsing for OS3.1/MAXIS 5.0.. (credit to samngcheesan):
- press *136# then tap on Call. a msg will appear notifying request to activate 3G.
- switch off & switch back on phone. received 2 sms notification frm maxis. proceed to test (mms & safari browsing) and it worked.
