iPhone Generation : 3GS 16GB Black
Current Firmware : 3.0 Jailbreaking software : Purpler1n Problem Encountered : Cannot connect to 3G unless EDGE is switched on. Steps Taken So Far : 1. I installed Boss Pref. 2. I enabled 3G and i disabled Edge, and i couldnt connect to the internet. 3. I enabled both 3G and EDGE and could connect to the internet. 4. Is this normal? Why is it when i enable EDGE only it will work? 5. Note: I disabled EDGE and enable 3G, and i tethered it to my PC and it worked. 6. I am worried that i will be charged for the EDGE. Do advice pls. Thx |

Initially i tried to jailbreak with RedSnow. But everytime it went into DFU mode, it would 'hang' the moment it said that it was jailbreaking the device. And i tried 2 times and it didnt seem to solve the problem. I am using Vista and i heard such problems do occur. So, do u think that by enabling the EDGE it will cost me? |

Yup. I tried Step 8. But my phone is jailbroken and quite ok except for this small glitch. Im subscribed to the iData2 plan (RM50 for 500mb- though im kinda regretting it. should have gone for the iValue 2 plan- it fits my budget better). So, i'll use it as it is and see what happens in the end of the month. |

iPhone: 3GS 16GB Black, Maxis Set
Status: Jailbroken Problem/ Question: I dont know if the other owners have noticed, but my screen, at the top most area, the top line of the screen, has a slight empty area (uncolored). The screen is nice and fine otherwise. What im concerned is that when the phone is in the leather casing and when i make calls, the screen turns off as if it is against my face. I dont think its because the casing covers the screen because i've tried 2 casings and the same thing tends to happen. Any thoughts? |

QUOTE(setoyo @ Aug 3 2009, 09:37 PM) AFAIK, I know the screen will switch off when I put it against my face. I've had an iPhone 2G prior to this n didn't hv such problems. The thing now is;That is iphone tech .. when u put the iphone near u, the screen will shut off.. got sensor near the speaker phone.. and when u away from the screen, the screen will light up.. when I make a call, d screen switches off despite my face not being next to it nor anything covering d screen. I suspect the leather casing is covering d sensor. But this never happened wit my old iPhone. I hv a suspicion that my screen is a little more sensitve than usual. Oh yeah, when d screen goes off, and if I wanna end a call, I need 2 lift d side of d casing. Btw, pls dun say I should get a new casing. While most probably that is where the problem lies, nevertheless, could it b that d screen is xtra sensitive? Thx |

Phone: i 3G S 16 GB, Maxis
Problem: Sensitive touchscreen - tends to switch off easily during calls and doesnt come back on immediately. (discussion was in an earlier post) Hi guys, im including pics to ask whether the gap highlighted at the corner of the screen is normal. I didnt seem to locate such on my iPhone 2G but its more obvious here. |
