Yep, our defenders was our man(s) of the match brows.gif . Especially Chivu and Samuel. Lucio for his part did really well against Ibrahimovic but on a couple of chances let him of the hook and it almost cost us. Milito didnt do too much either except some fakes shots here and there.

To be honest, we could have won the game too. We had the plan to counter every Barca attack but the "killer pass" is lacking in our team. I believe we still need more time to gel most likely by February or March. Theres still potential in this "new" team. Our defense was completely superb though. Many praise for Chivu stopping Messi on a couple of occassions that could have cost us. Cesar too showed his courage stopping shots from Messi. I do believe we need somemore work on stopping their crosses and countering straight away.
Another positive is Balotelli and Santon played quite well during the 2nd half.

Well to be fair, who does really against Barca at home or even at away?
Ibra still finding his football shoes after misplacing and wore rugby shoes last night laugh.gif

Highlights from Inter - Barca game.

Mourinho's aftermath.

Im still tired of all the critics critising Inter for their negative display even though other english teams played the same way and were praised magnificently. The english press didnt dedicate any back pages for this game too.

A little bit of trivia
Heres some stats from the game.

Internazionale-Barcelona
0 Goals scored 0
4 Shots on target 3
4 Shots wide 8
1 Shots blocked 3
1 Corners 4
7 Offsides 3
33% Ball. Poss. (%) 67%

Chelseas UCL last season

Barcelona--Chelsea (LEG 1)
0 Goals scored 0
6 Shots on target 1
12 Shots wide 2
10 Corners 2
4 Offsides 3
65% Ball. Poss. (%) 35%

Chelsea--Barcelona (LEG 2)
1 Goals scored 1
4 Shots on target 1
5 Shots wide 10
6 Corners 6
5 Offsides 0
36% Ball. Poss. (%) 64%

UCL Final
Barcelona--Man. United
2 Goals scored 0
8 Shots on target 2
2 Shots wide 9
4 Corners 7
2 Offsides 5
51% Ball. Poss. (%) 49%

source uefa.com

Basically nobody could really play possession game against Barcelona and do note that even though the UCL final may look like the possession was even but thats because Man U tried to attack. The result was another goal conceded.
We gave far too many balls away when we had a chance. Lack of understanding is still missing in some areas.
Bare in mind 5 players from the starting line-up just came in this season.
So i really do thing this is a positive point for us. But i got to confess that Ibra wasnt showing his magic last night.

And obivously we are missing this guy,

Most likely i wont be able to see tonights match against cagliari since its Hari Raya. Oh well.

Mourinho's squad for Cagliari game.
Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 21 Paolo Orlandoni.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, 4 Javier Zanetti, 6 Lucio, 13 Maicon, 25 Walter Samuel, 26 Cristian Chivu, 39 Davide Santon.

Midfielders: 5 Dejan Stankovic, 7 Ricardo Quaresma, 8 Thiago Motta, 10 Wesley Sneijder, 14 Patrick Vieira, 19 Esteban Cambiasso.

Strikers: 9 Samuel Eto'o, 22 Diego Milito, 45 Mario Balotelli.

Most likely it will be a 4-3-1-2 formation again since there are only 3 strikers called up. I wont fancy mourinho changing his team and most likely we can get is a few minutes with Esteban Cambiasso.
Maybe a few players will get rested like Julio Cesar and some others.
Hope it goes well tonight.

What a game. An embarassing one for the defence after what we witness from barca's game midweek. Maybe it was the away jitters that caught our team in the first half. The reffree didnt do any bit better either giving yellow cards faster than gambit. We trail 1-0 half-time after a penalty was given to Cagliari. And we were dead lucky not to concede more than 1 in the first half. Shocking really.
But what Mourinho said at half-time changed the game after. Balotelli came on for Santon. Motta came on for Cambiasso(not up to par today). That leaves Zanetti in Lb for a 4-3-3 attacking formation that saw Milito score 2 goals in the space of under 10 minutes to turn around a game that i didnt saw us winning to be honest. Then a clear red-card foul(if we follow the standards of the refree during this game) on Balotelli didnt materialise and Mourinho's reaction earned him a red card and banished from the touchline. I believe we will see more from this when Mou gets his interview.
Believe me. I thought the game was over after 2 goals from milito. But Cagliari showed us that our defence wasnt invincible. Rather they act as if the defence are invisible at times during the 2nd half. Cordoba and Maicon didnt do much to counter the threat from Cagliari. At times, we could have gone 3 goals down from their attack.
Fortunately none of the chances was on target and we are fortunate enough to steal 3 points from them which i believe we dont deserve that much. Much must be improved from this "ever improving" team.
Whatever it is Balotelli was singled out by the Cagliari fans for racial abuse.
MOM for me = Milito of course.
sneijder at times was virtually invisible.
Notable mention = Lucio was fantastic today alongside Milito for MOM. They are the only ones awake the whole 90 minutes.
At the end final score Cagliari 1 - 2 Inter

Didnt had time for hype as i was busy the whole night long.. tongue.gif . Managed to see the game though and it was a run-out by our players. Very solid first half by most of our players. Eto'o did well to poach the first goal while brilliant run by Maicon sees an offside(in question) Milito scoring the second. Lucio did great with a header from Sneijder's cross. Sneijder not to mention did great in the game with his pin-point crossing and corners. Our backline today was superb apart from the goal some other minor incidents cause Napoli really didnt play football today. Their communication was really off.
Overall i think its a solid game by our players ahead of our weekend's match against leaders Sampdoria.
Another game tomorrow is Juve vs Genoa which will be a great match.
Fulltime. Inter 3 - 1 Napoli. Eto'o, Milito and Lucio.
Got to mention one of my favourite players Cambiasso did well today too. Better than the last match. Hopefully the sign of better things to come. flex.gif

Correction, at the moment, we are leading the serie A(13 pts) by one point ahead of juventus(12 pts, with a game in hand) and sampdoria which was beaten by Fiorentina 2-0 away.

Highlights Inter 3 Napoli 1.

Milito's comment about tomorrow's game. He was man of the match for the game.
