Haha i think so to. I however don't deny being an elitist cauz i like to do things proper and thorough Is not a bad thing, (and in fact most successful guilds are eltisits) but it does tend to annoy people who are very casual players haha...

What is worrying when trying to apply to these guilds, they refuse to gurantee you a spot. They always want to trial first before they accept you. Also sometimes it probably not a core raider spot! Also could be their loot rules is not agreeable or there was some problem you found out too late etc etc :[

Mind you this was back in Vanilla WoW. Managing a guild with over 200+ toons and 2x 40-man raids is not easy, especially with first time MMORPG players. At one time we were among the biggest guilds on some server tracking websites.

My guild also has lots of new recruits benched.. but as long as they are available to raid, they are eligible to earn dkp even when not in raid.. They can use the DKP to bid against other ppl on trial if the item is not wanted by any permanent member (this is often the case). Permanent membership is granted after an anonymous vote on member forums, as well as discussion among officers after about 15-20 raids. If needed, the officers may grant an extended trial to give the player a chance to fix whats needed.

Ok so last week i also managed to get OS3 drakes again. I didn't win mount but our kitty feral druid kiter did

I dunno about dumbed down, it's dumbed down for the mid-tier crowd, definitely, but Mimiron pre-nerf was approaching soul-crushingly hard. I'd put it almost at M'uru level. Yogg-Saron with 0 keepers (which Tsunami was on the verge of beating before 3.2, augh, got it 2nd pull after the patch hit, f.u.blizz) was literally head and shoulders above anything else in the game up to that point in terms of the amount of coordination and split-second timing required.

My personal observation is, the problem with meritocracys in developing nations is the fact that, most of the time you can't even find competent people to fill spots. Take a workplace for example... How many times have you looked across the partition at the next guy over and wondered to yourself what the flying f* he's doing there earning a salary... yet when it comes down to screening and interviewing a replacement, surprise of all surprises, no one better walks in.

Maybe it's the fact that the average IQ of 'poorer' countries just is lower. Maybe the only real way people move forward in this kind of environment is to band together, following the age-old idiom of the bundle of sticks. (p.s. I'd take a baseball bat over a bundle of sticks any day) Maybe a couple of generations with a non-shit national education system will fix the problem. With the amount of intelligent people leaking out of the country by going overseas to study and staying there after realizing what a shithole this place is, I kinda doubt it, though.

IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO DO. Seriously, stop f***ing saying this. There are multiple, mathematically possible ways to kill the boss. However, they're all very difficult to EXECUTE. The math is f***ing easy, the DPS checks can be met. The hard part is actually everyone playing like a god in regards to positioning/taunting/moving in the small windows of opportunity you have to actually do it. And you have to repeat it many times.


The exploit they're talking about is a typical evading adds exploit, which is pretty unlikely to have been used for the kill.

I find it hard to believe that Exodus exploited. From what I understand about the encounter it seems to be possible, although ridiculously hard and luck dependent.

The idiots and hand-wavers who listened to Ensidia and didn't bother to even attempt it said it was impossible. People who were working on the fight at the time knew it was very, very possible. Premonition for example were close but backslided on progression due to a couple of rostering factors (Summer vacation, 4th of July, etc)

Point is moot since Blizzard changed/nerfed the fight and made targeted immortals rename.

from perspective of a yet-to-ding-80 wow player running few pugged TBC instances, i've seen non tank spec warrior refuse to tank when the rest of the group consist fully of off-spec healers, rogues that didn't sap mobs for easier pull, dk that likes yoyo mobs around, shaman that didn't place totems, paladins that waste AoW proc etc, etc... and some of them were in blue gears.

some people might be undergeared, but i believe some amongst them would provide more valuable actions than those who have blue/purple geared all around; you might been crossing few dozens of them who 'just want to focus on certain job' while ignoring wholly what their class are capable of. when comes to some situations like a raid facing wipe, although a green geared paladin/ shaman/ warlock might be less help on healz/ pewpew, but at least they provide certain usefulness comparing to a properly geared warrior rogue that just want their names on top of DPS chart.

and sometimes, luck plays an important part on getting those gears... some people are just on some unfortunate losing streak when comes to rolling

to be fair, rogues replacing SS with FOK in pvp is a little rediculous, however with the early PTR notes showing a huge % drop on FOK changes, this might be a little too much lol

I do agree. However i have my own philosophy that only people that got enchanted/gemmed/and some decent gear for raid should come. So why should a better geared person roll against someone less hard working at getting gear? And i am not talking about awesome gear, i mean people who don't bother enchanting/gemming, or their wearing a different spec gear, or their wearing some nasty gear like greens and blues or pvp gear.

If it was in my guild raid i would keep quiet unless it was another tank in shitty gear. Why do i need to roll off against a shitty geared tank?

So to me, it's not only who is geared for it, also geared to make the encounter easier, but whether they deserve to roll for loot against others also matters to me

Of course now and then when doing a 5man heroic, i won't be this strict, as long as their not greens is fine.
I have even booted some very geared players from raid for OS3 because on dps meter they sucked or they keep dying to firewalls and voids. I tend to favour melee dps for OS3 drakes. So far i have managed to kill OS3 drakes 2 times so far this way It's nothing personal but the majority just want to down the boss, so the weakest link needs to be replaced.
You have hit this dead on the mark. Many people have said as you mentioned. Why am i being such an elitist, and whats the point when you should just play with friends to have fun together?

I am not against that, however for progression, i even keep my friends out of my raids unless their geared for it. Most of them understand it is not personal, but that they just aren't ready yet. Of course sometimes they will ask me to make an exception and i will deny them

I left one guild because i didn't agree with their philosophy. To them it didn't matter whether the person is geared enough for content or not, as long as their a guildy they all get to go regardless of whether their ready or not.

To me, that just tells me they don't care about progression, they just hope for the best with unrealistic goals that amuses me to no end as well.

Casual playing isn't wrong, but they shouldn't be holding players like myself back or being egoist telling me and other elitists why we don't accomodate for them. If they want to go raid somewhere fine, but leave me out of it don't be cussing me on whisper because i refuse to join your group.

This is why i left an old guild to find similar minded people that want to work their asses of for progression

The friends in my area like to live life a certain way. They play futsal regularly, hang out at mamak teh ais until 12am, and enjoy watching EPL on weekends. Sometimes they go on trips to Kinabalu or even Tibet.

I don't like any of those, so I don't join them. Who cares if I'm miserably alone because I don't have anyone who fit my lifestyle, this is my life and I choose to do it this way. It's the way I roll baby.

I'd rather transfer to Australia to (hopefully) find people similar to me rather than adjust my attitude to accomodate the people here.

Ah my bad then, didnt do TOC straight away on when Anubarak was released during that day due to "extended maintainence" crap. Entire Ruin battlegroup (a few other BG gp too) was pratically down for 1 day.
Must be other servers got to it 1st and discovered the bug.

Well so far this is my guild progress.
TOC 10 = we killed 4 of the bosses. We killed the twin angels

Ulduar 10 = we can kill everything normal mode except mimiron, general and yogg.

OS 3 drakes = We can kill sartharion for this achievement after a few tries. actually this is a pug i make, but some of the people is my guildys. Hoping to keep it internal in the future

Ulduar 25 = we killed everything except mimirong, general and yogg. Some weeks we don't even manage to kill Ignis >-<;
I have been helping get new members especially priests, and some good dps. Also we have been gearing members. So gearwise we are ready, just that we need people to be more consistent by showing up on time, and our GM needs to set specific raid times.

the bandwidth is sucks. i regularly get unplayable latency of 500+ ms. it's damn horrible. I had to resort to capping my fps at 25 to play at max settings.
