Hi,

currently, facing the problem of Astro at Condo...Services Not Available...
Anyone facing this problem?
sometimes day time will not have problem...but when after late afternoon till evening or night time...the signall was down at all...and status shown services not availble..
call up, will teach you to trobleshoot...sure no anser or solved the issue...then might need to arrange a techician...need to pay RM50. what is the problem of ASTRO nowaday...what attitude is this? since when they simply charge users like this?
What's your solution? or this is only my problem...yours are fine?

Thanks!!!

Typically, u wanna check in the following order:
0. Check and see if all cable and connections are ok, nothing loose
1. Check with neighbour and see if they have similar problem
2. Check with management office if 1 is true
3. If 1 and 2 turns up with no answers, u'll need to get a technician to help smile.gif

may be cable, change to new one see if it solves the problem, make sure the cable is RG-6
btw safety first, down fall off your condo, use rope to tie yourself to something solid

are your astro running on centralised dish
if yes it could be your management responsible to get it fixed

if your decoder box is old, it could be broken (and perhaps qualify for free motherboard replacement in Klang Valley)

have you checked with your neighbors? if they are not facing the same problem it does seem to point to a broken decoder box doesn't it?

Bring your decoder to your neighbour and check if it works? Otherwise get/borrow another decoder replace with yours try and see if you still have the same problem.

This is just to check if your decoder function properly not or the cable link to your unit is giving you problem.

Nobody know the real answer..

You need to do your own investigation.

Since you already ask ur management and nobody complain.. Then it ur units got problem..

Need to do step by step trouble shoot..

Some idea,

Bring ur decoder to somewhere else and test..
Bring ur friend decoder and try at ur house..
Change the wire between decoder and the wall..

if everything works then it the wiring inside the wall.. no idea how to fix that one..

every floor should have a splitter, ask your management to check it, could be just a loose F-connector, try re-tighten both end, your decoder end and splitter end

i remember last time they FIX the POINT in front of my UNIT...but don't know why this time they don't take action on this...what i'm really Angry is the ASTRO customer service department told me to pay RM50 for a technician come for checking only...wa lau..ASTRO really have to give the BEST service to their customer, don't treat their customer without moral...

No need to get angry la. The RM50 is for the service technician to come over to trouble shoot the problem. The fee is the techinician's salary.

If you really wanna save that RM50, then you have to do the trouble shooting yourself. That's to check the decoder and cable which already mentioned earlier. If the decoder and cable is working normal, then quite likely it is the connection point to your unit, if so you can save RM50 and complaint to the management to solve the problem for you.
