The V2 Gundam is the first one to have the Wings of Light. the follow ups are V2 wannabes for the lulz.
Usso Ewin, the Newtype pilot for the V2, combines with the V2 Minovsky engine drive, allows the V2 to maximize its propulsion engine to its fullest potential via the Minovsky Drive Thrusters on its back. Generating a somewhat beam light called the Wings of Light. It serves as Offensive and Defensive for the V2. These Wings of Light can cut through or destroy enemies for as long as physical contact is involved.
In Turn A Gundam's case, These are called the Moonlight Butterly, in which it has to have some strong contacts or relations with its twin machine, Turn X. By doing so, they could unleash the gundam's highest potential and maximum power, the Moonlight Butterly. it serves a different purpose than the V2's. the moonlight butterly seems to deploy nano-machines which destroys everything tat comes in its path (as seen in the Turn A movie)
cant say much about the Destiny's Wings cuz i dun watch GSD, lol, all i know it looks all flashy and awsm >_<
in the OO Gundam series, actually there are no "wings". They're just a wide spread of the GN particles which resembles like wings. These GN Particles yet serves a different purpose from the V2 and Turn A's. While the Green GN Particles serves no harm, the Red GN Particles have some sort of rediation effects on human beings. Take Louise Halevy for example, she was wounded from a large scale destruction and had her arm seperated, the Thrones were flying above them and emitted the Red GN Particles upon the wounded below. These Particles somehow stopped the regeneration of wounded body cells.
wow, looks like i talk too much liao
btw, wat's IMO of IIHO or sumthin liek tat? i no good in short forms liao

Destiny's wing is just a byproduct of its propulsion system (aka cosmetic purpose only
IMO = In My Opinion, IMHO = In My Humble Opinion.
