Make a date with new PS3, PSP Go


KUALA LUMPUR: SONY announced that it will officially launch the new slimline PlayStation3 with a 120GB hard disk, and the PSP Go locally on Oct 31.

The new PS3 and PSP Go will be available at suggested retail prices of RM1,299 and RM1,099 respectively.

Compared to the first PS3 model with 60GB hard disk, the internal volume as well as the thickness and weight of the new PS3 are trimmed down to approximately two-thirds, Sony said.

Furthermore, power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise.

Customers can also choose to get the optional Vertical Stand for the new PS3 to set the console in a vertical position. The stand will be available for RM82.

Meanwhile the PSP Go replaces the UMD drive of the original with 16GB of Flash memory to store a variety of digital ­entertainment content. It will be available in black and white.

In addition to accessing the PlayStation Store directly from the PSP using the built-in WiFi or through the PS3, Sony said users will be able to download a variety of entertainment content via their PCs using Media Go, a new software application.

The application will be available on a CD bundled with the PSP Go. There will also be a new music application specific to the PSP that uses the SensMe channels music recommendation feature available for download.

In conjunction with the launch, Sony will be having an event on Oct 31, 11am at the 1 Utama shopping complex in Petaling Jaya where customers will have the chance to grab special premiums for the new PS3 and PSP Go.

The promo didn't say "while stocks last" so I guesss they should have enough sets.

I think the * is just to direct to what you will be getting at the RM1,399/- price (i.e the free game/extra controller and T-shirt)

Now that I looked at the fine print the * stands for "Promotion Limited to one unit per customer only"

Looking at the promo again, I wonder if the free controller is acutally an extra controller or just the single original controller.

Lots of coflicting report about PS3 launch. Even the no. of sets available for the Promotion not sure now. While stocks last maybe.

Latest report from a forumer who Emailed Sony Malaysia is that RM1,399/- promo package is for first 150 customers Only.

What a con job by Sony .

I think after the first 150 customers, price will revert to RM1,299/- without the Promo extras. Just a Hunch.

Haha Pity those kena this trap and queue for 1 day and then find out he is the 151th customer, and no more Promo deal

You won't know your position. That's why I said pity the 151st guy because when it reaches the last set available (150) then only he will find out no more offer for him after all the queuing.

Maybe if he starts Crying and Howling in front of all the shoppers, Sony might give him a free set later

That one just typo error. Someone called Sony up and they confirmed the 151st person onwards can still buy at RM1,299/- without the freebies of course.

Because they can get special promo price with freebies (extra controller/Free Game/T-Shirt) and a chance for cash vouchers up to RM1,000/- . Applicable only on launch day.

You only read the last few posts and don't know much about the promotion, that's why you don't understand.
