I think i face that problem too. When wanna connect, an error pop-up as the modem is not detected  rclxub.gif
Frequently happen these days  doh.gif
*
this cant be the network issue.. i suspect is the USB modem itself having some manufacturer's fault in it?

so far i used the modem today the first time i face this rclxub.gif

Not yet capped. Volume used= 4.57 GB sweat.gif

Added on August 26, 2009, 4:31 amDidn't realize that i used that much already sweat.gif

could be network related then... using D68 or D98?

for D68 once slow will drop lower than usual...

try using other methods to improve speed such as using google chrome, opendns, placing ur modem nearer to the window... smile.gif

if all else fails, time to switch to another service provider biggrin.gif

Seems like Maxis Broadband is faster then Celcom Broadband i will try the prepaid 1st then decide
*
another thing i wish to add is that maxis broadband offers a much lower cap then celcom, not to mention u cant use torrent or p2p downloading at all with it...

so far 5gb is just nice for me, consider that i stream videos, download a few anime and browsing everyday...

maxis is like 3gb cap for their 90 buck package?

hi bro, i'm frm penang, gelugor area smile.gif
*
please take note that wireless will always have cap

for celcom is 5GB for P98... is that enough for you? smile.gif

and for wireless there will at times be stability issues, such as line unable to connect to 3G, disconnect by itself

if really is celcom's end, so far no issue after logging a case to them (u have to insist to log to their network team) and it can settle in less than 2-3 hours

streamyx support pissed? celcom aint better bro.. their support oso sucks, but if ur streamyx always give u problem, i suggest u give celcom a try

but rmbr, u cant download as much like last time, once celcom capped u ur speed reli gonna suck alot

and u cant play online games, gonna be unstable... might disconnect urself once the line breaks... (have to go out reconnect back)

so, are u sure? sweat.gif

Added on September 5, 2009, 11:23 pmPS: one thing good tho is that u can carry that mini USB modem anywhr u want!! that is the pure sheer advantage of such a small wireless

anyway, imho celcom beats maxis wireless anytime... it is so far the best out of all that i've tried... excluding wimax, havent get the chance as im outta coverage

Created a guide for OpenDNS...

(assuming that you are using mobile connect)

Directions:

1. go to manage connections > view > new
user posted image

2. put any name for your new connection
user posted image

3. enter the two IPs as in opendns.com
user posted image

4. press the arrow once to make your new connection at the top (so that only the top one connects not the bottom one)
note: what "automatic" does is that it saves you the hassle from pressing "connect" each time you plug in the USB modem or when you just boot up the comp.. I find it more convenient this way
user posted image

5. it is certified that you are always running on opendns, less hassle than the guide on the site itself smile.gif

bad connections at certain times is normal, even with opendns

reason is simple, more users clogging the network or network traffic is high...

even with opendns, there could be larger amounts of people using it at this specific time, thus causing a slowdown

u cant always get 100% smooth and fast network in malaysia, unless u are in US or UK or some other well developed part of the world.. now that's a real broadband... wink.gif

Having some difficulty with some sites - domain names cannot be resolve.  So switched to OpenDNS.  It seems fine now.

So, does it mean the Celcom DNS are overloaded?
*
yes i've experienced it as well with certain sites...

opendns is a solution to it...

Speed is fine, one thing I noticed is the latency is quite high and never really able to get about 200+ms range.

something that celcom can improve on for stability...

i hate it when 3G and HSDPA switch frequently...

guys, i noticed that leaving the USB broadband modem flat actually improves the pickup and speed...

previously I had it danggling from my window, seems like the gravity pull makes it weaker and sometimes dc by itself

now i leave it on a flat surface, a much more stabler connection i'm getting biggrin.gif
