haha... looks like i come from the same gen as you. remember agassi and his "image is everything" tagline?
his denim shorts and neon tights!!! but then the air tech challenges i still think are pretty cool.
if u think that's bad, the other day i was saying to someone that i used to use a head prestige pro, and he asked me if any pro used it, and i said yes, ivanisevic. and *horrors* he's never heard of him!
...hah hah scirocco yeah sure mate, agassi was the ultimate icon for me at that time, in fact he was the one who saved nike as a business and launched them to the giant they are now... tiger woods, jordan should all pay homage to agassi... although I was more partial to adidas (edberg, lendl), I was always an in-the-closet agassi fan

...the bandana, nadal? pfttt... it was all agassi...
...he didn't know ivanisevic?

...come one, I would be the first to admit I don't know a lot of the players before my time, but ivanisevic was a wimbledon champion!!! plus he wasn't that long ago, was he? hah hah... actually we are the museum exhibits, I guess...

how do you old timer guys rate rackets today?
the older racket usually is of a solid construction, while the newer rackets have holes or ports(eg. prince rackets). from what i know, solid rackets are the best, but it will take a lot of energy to swings, where as newer hollow rackets doesn't use much energy to swing?
...ouch... time you cut the old-timer jokes mate heh heh... yeah would have to agree with scirocco there... the balance of a racquet plays the main part in the swing weight of a racquet i.e. HH or HL... of course, some racquets are just plain heavy but usually, balance is the main thing to look out... as you've mentioned with your wilson hammer, it is a light racquet, but with the balance being head-heavy, you can swing and hit solid shots easily, right?
...as for preference, I still prefer my older racquets but that's just because I haven't played a lot of the newer racquets, or played at all actually... i'll reserve my answer till I have tried more of the current racquets... but for me, the best racquet I have tested have been dunlop racquets, especially the max 200g with one exception being a mizuno model, which I have not come across much in malaysia...
