I always thought Transformers was purposely made grainy, especially the scene where the Sam drops off Mikaela at her place at night. Michael Bay seems to like that grainy oversaturated look.
Speaking of grain, this means that we should see absolutely zero grains from CGI movies like Up and the Incredibles?
Yeah, I think there is some deliberate grain in Transformers. Just like in 300.
I've never noticed any grain in CGI movies.

Grains are meant to be stationary there right-i mean at a particualy spot where there's grain. But this is a hell lot worse, the grains "moves around"..i really dunno how to explain this. It's always like that when i look at televisions. This is only noticeable when obeserved closely or "pixel peeping"
Normally if there is grain it affects the whole picture area, not just at one particular spot. And you don't need to pixel peep to see the grain.

sometimes the culprit is on the playback equipment also.. some TV and BDP like to accentuate these "artifacts" to the point of being overbearing...
for example, spidey BD grains don't look that distracting on some TVs while it looks dem bad on some of the demo TV sets..
Yeah, it could also be due to equipment. I suspect if the TV or BDP applies sharpness then grain or noise becomes amplified.
