For some reason, i just formatted my Studio 15 just now and reinstall the Audigy MB Advance driver. And it worked! No idea why the key was not working previously. LOL...

Uh, just got my touch sensitive button warrantied yesterday. Had the problem of them auto activating by their own for sometime now and didn't do anything until i realise my warranty is ending tongue.gif

They change the top panel but still, problem persist. Anyone actually have their problem with the touch sensitive button fixed? About to call again today and request for a fix again.

Just realised the Warranty Extension for Studio 15 cost about RM700. Got an email from Dell asking me to extend my warranty and at that link, its listed as RM480. Called the CS and they said that price is only for Inspiron, and Studio will cost RM700. Crazy...

One thing about Dell warranty that it is expensive. But if your laptop starting to show the sign of dying then I think the warranty should worth the upgrade. I don't mind extending my warranty if I running on a XPS m1530 laugh.gif Studio somehow more reliable than other line, it is much better compared to Inspiron and some say Studio XPS whistling.gif whistling.gif
Peel off the Vista sticker and replace with Win 7  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif
*
Well, if its the quoted 400+, i dont mind upgrading. Luckily i called to confirmed and they said its about 700+ which someone doesn't really worth the price, unless its some major breakdown like LCD or motherboard. Battery are not covered anyway even if we extend.

QUOTE(noien @ Nov 16 2009, 10:08 PM)
after the change my palm rest.i don have any sticker either
*
I changed mine last time as well but they gave me replacement stickers tongue.gif Or perharps, they peel of the original one and put them onto the new palm rest tongue.gif

Tired of calling Dell, after so many times, they still fail to fix my "too sensitive until it operates on its own" touch sensitive buttons. Guess even they cant do anything on it.

Well, so far I didn't hear any complain that somebody S15 broke down due to mobo or gpu failure so the hardware should be fine for the next few years given it been taken care in good condition. Rm700 really will poke a huge hole in you pocket if you upgrade it sweat.gif

How did they fix your multimedia touch button? Do they replace the touch button or they just replace the casing? I have no problem with the multimedia touch button, how long the problem occurred?
*
They replaced the top panel, saying its because the panel is too tight or something like that. Complained twice, replaced twice, but still same problem occrured. I got that problem since the very first month i got the S15. Asked them to fixed it but they never actually did until today. Warranty gonna end next month. So, might give it a try and ask them to fix it again. tongue.gif

doh.gif  doh.gif  I thought is the Win 7 logo.
If your warranty going to end, call them and ask them to replace everything laugh.gif You got the problem from the first month using it? Wow, that is stubborn problem that you having there. Ill ask for 1 to 1 exchange if the problem occurs more than 3 month..
If  they sent you the 64bit for Vista, I think they can do the same for Win 7
My touchpad quite hot as well. I'm currently using 14inch cooler on S15, just to get the air ventilation better. But when I'm gaming, the touchpad area really hot as the HDD and Ram is beneath it.
*
They would? LOL...If they will, i can give it a try tongue.gif Well, yes, apparently my first problem was the top panel (the black part where the speaker resides) are abit loose. So, i called up, and instead of changing the whole laptop, they decided to change the panel only. Since then, the "too sensitive" touch button appears. Called up again, and they change the panel again. But problem still occurs. Lazy to call again, and decide to stick with it (for a couple of months).

And when i found out its annoying again, i call again, and they replace the damn panel again, and same problem still there. I wonder they never realise changing the top panel wont work.

RM700 is for which warranty package ?
and it is for one year or 2 year ?
planning to extend my warranty as well ^^
*
Its a 1 year, standard warranty you get when you purchase the S15. If 2 years, it cost RM1k which is extremely unworthy, at least to me.

QUOTE(material @ Nov 18 2009, 01:34 AM)
i just bought my studio 15 last week,
i found that, there is a sim card slot near the battery slot thr...

so, i try to put sim card in (is a data plan card) and nothing happen with my lappie...

here is the question~ = =v

do i need any other software to operate or it just work on other studio 15 which c/w higher spec?
sorry that i nvr search the answer n asking above question = ="
from ray:

That sim card slot don't have any function as that is a hole/slot with no significant device in it. Dell never release driver support for the as the sim card slot is actually for the Europe model, not Asia Pacific. So every Dell user in Malaysia except Inspiron 10 are not able to use the sim card slot.
Now i know.... =þ
*
The sim card was never meant to be used here. At least thats what i found out. Searching the net did says that it is somehow designed for some place overseas that has the ability to use the slot instead of some mobile broadband thing etc. I tried it before as well and you can never detect it. Probably you need some built in HSDPA modem or something.

What OS you running on? Vista or Win 7? I agreed that with 3k you can get a great desktop but with laptop, P8600 and HD4570 is quite good already.
Got this fella that have problem with his Studio XPS, he complain until Dell give him full refund laugh.gif

I quite lucky with Dell laptop, never face a constant problem. The only time I had problem is my GS8400 on Inspiron 14 decide to gone kaput. That time they come to fix it for 3 times. Watch them rip my mobo apart and install it again  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

I got another friend which is M1530 spoiled after warranty finish but Dell still fixing it FOC. That is why I like Dell, very good customer service and after sales services.
Win 7? The only problem I can spot is either the driver or the flash player is outta date. Update your driver and flash player and open Task Manager to see what is the software running on the background. Need to wait few second to type in msn? This problem not even occur when I'm using Inspiron 14. I can confirm is not the hardware issue, it up to your laptop configuration.
*
Haha..I for one, have loads of problem with Dell laptop before. Had one Latitude from my previous company, the LCD kong the very first week received. Then, after changed, keep getting BSOD due to faulty ram. My first Dell, the S15, had so many problems. Faulty wireless switch, weak top panel (Squeeky sound when press), problematic touch sensitive buttons, faulty power led etc.

Had to complain so many times, until i also lazy to complain about the touch sensitive button already tongue.gif But for some reason, i still favor Dell tongue.gif Just ordered the 14z to replace my S15 anyway yesterday tongue.gif

shocking.gif shocking.gif You change laptop like changing shirts laugh.gif But why take 14z? The GPU capability is almost the same like your current S15. Why not getting Studio XPS, better GPU and design?

I have the faulty LED prob too but it just for the num lock led so I don't really care about it, other than that my S15 is healthy like a horse.
*
LOL..Not really. Someone is interested in purchasing my S15 so i decided to let it go. Somehow, 15" seems a tad too big for me, thus me changing to the 14z. Was looking at the 13z but there are some features missing, so i decided with 14z instead tongue.gif

Regarding the GPU, not really interested to game on my laptop. I had a PC specifically for that. Besides, i tried gaming on my S15 before and it just sucked so bad, i decided not to do it again. Except perhaps for some regular CS or Warcraft on it tongue.gif Design wise, yes, the Studio XPS does look nicer than the 14z but i am already tired of the same slot load "load noise" dvdrom, the touch sensitve buttons etc. Not my cup of tea tongue.gif

Well, laptop are not build for gaming at first actually. If you wanted to gaming on laptop, make sure you prepare the measure such as get a decent cooler and avoid playing it in a room where the air flow is not that good. Heat issue is common on laptop, even the good one also faced the same issue.
+1 for Dell supporter.

S1537 really crappy when gaming, I push my laptop so hard when playing PES2010, haven't tried FPS yet sweat.gif 14z is nice, get to choose purple with it laugh.gif The gpu is HD4330 right? 13z is best bang for bucks, I would opt it if I have a desktop, too bad I'm saving for a Mac instead.
*
Not just that. My S1537 had a hard time playing Grid and RA3 as well. Need to really downgrade the quality in order to play it smoothly and that, for me, just degrade the whole experience of enjoying the game. Thus, this is where my desktop will do the job just nicely smile.gif

Well, 14z only comes with black or red as option. And yes, its HD4330. 13z is almost the same price as the 14z but missing certain features such as the HDMI port etc. The only reason i didnt choose the Studio XPS is because i wanna stay away from the touch sensitive keys. Besides, i have no use for the media remote as well (it keeps coming out whenever i put my laptop into the bag tongue.gif for some reason).

Other than that, i will be sorely missing the backlight keyboard on the 14z. smile.gif

i've decided to get the studio15, is there a specific date & time on a weekday i can choose for delivery? i know they dont deliver on weekends
*
They do actually. My latest laptop from Dell, they requested to deliver it on a Saturday, between 9am to 2pm. So, you might want to give them a call to arrange. Normally, they will send you an SMS about the date & time of delivery. If it does not suit you, call back the number in the SMS and arrange with them.

Yes you can. As long as its Maybank or Citibank.

thanks for the card info too smile.gif
*
Well, i for one was shocked as well when they say they are going to send to me on Saturday. Unsure of the whole reason behind it though but of course, i screw them up pretty badly prior to receiving the laptop. That might be the cause of it for sending it to me, even on weekends tongue.gif

order 1 studio 14 on last thursday, till now haven't got my estimated shipping date = =
*
You mean they didn't update the tracking system that they provide you? If yes, send them an email, and call the CS to blast them to pieces. At least, thats what i did when i ordered my 14z. They put the tracking as "Order Received" for over 7 working days before i sent them a complaint. They responded with ALOT of excuses, saying its a popular model, its festive season, its this and that..bla bla bla... and then, provide me with an estimated delivery date of 5 freaking weeks later.

Again, sent them a reply and blasted them about their promise of 2 weeks delivery. They updated the estimated delivery date to about 3 weeks later. And just 2 days later, they called and says my item is ready for delivery. Funny how they can react so fast after being blasted. In the end, i received it within 14 working days. smile.gif

To be honest, if they had promised you that the item will arrive within two weeks, i would send them an email, asking for an estimation. They always use the festive season as a reason for late delivery. Its acceptable if its 1 week late, but over 3 weeks later than the estimated date are too much. smile.gif
