Thanks for the explanation mate. Well, the thing is, I close all applications usually.
Previous experience :
Dell Inspiron 1420
First year was ok - played wc3 on net servers, mozilla, msn all running
Second year - started heating up a bit, even when not gaming. Finally it heated up like fark until mobo GG. Dell technician replaced it for me FOC.
Third year - the problems started coming again - heat like like crazy when watching some movie/show after 1 hour. then have to restart lappie.
It was stolen from my house during CNY
Now i'm having this new dell studio 1557. Its supposed to be so powerful with the i7 and all that. I thought I would never face this heating problem again.
But 2 or 3 days ago it was damn hot, everything was lagging (i left it on for 1-2 days). Only stuff that was running was mozilla, and msn.
Bleh... so restarted. Till now, no problems... but I'm always puzzled by this heating up and everything starting to lag issue.
btw, there are dozens and dozens of unknown shit running in the background la. I only know the biggest contributors are mozilla firefox and msn (and acrobat reader if i'm on it). The rest are all windows stuff, webcam stuff, and unknown processes like Toaster.exe and wlcomm.exe and wltray.exe dwm.exe @_@
currently im using STUDIO 1558 (add me in list plz) . i do not suffer any heat problems. but i know there are some heat issue with older 1558 model in dell forum, mayb you are suffering from the same problems also. if this continue after u did a clean format, i suggest u should contact dell.
