Yes, if u order about USD30, Amazon will ship for free to CompGateway.  With CompGateway, you can choose from all Vendors at Amazon, not just the Fulfilled.
by Amazon. There are many Vendors at Amazon who charge cheaper than Amazon even after the delivery charges of USD3.99 (or so) but these Vendors don't ship overseas but will ship to CompGateway.

What u need to do is to compare Amazon charges for delivery to MY against CompGateway.  For Amazon, they do not have a 'Base Weight' for items like Books, DVD, etc but its based on Per Item, which is about USD5 per item.  However, u should compare against Amazon's Priority Delivery Charge and not the Standard Delivery cos it takes up to 1-mth and there is No Tracking Number. Amazon's Priority Delivery is about 10-business days which is equivalent to CompGateway Standard which comes with Tracking Number.

But for CompGateway. there is a min base weight of 0.50 kg which is USD20.75 and 10% fuel surcharge and 0.65% for Insurance.

In a nutshell, if Amazon Priority Delivery is less than USD23, then u can use Amazon but if its more than USD23, you are probalbly better if using CompGateway..

FYI, this is also dependent whether Amazon sends your package together to CompGateway. Sometimes, if they break-up the deliveries, then u will have to pay more to CompGateway.  To explain, say if Amazon send in one package and weights less than 0.50, you only need to pay USD20.75 + USD2.07 + Insurance.

But if Amazon breaks into 2 deliveries, u have to pay to CompGateway. USD20.75 + USD3.25 + USD2.40 + Insurance.

Hope u get what I meant.  FYI, I ordered some items from CompGateway on Friday and the items arrived this morning. CompGateway. cvharged me about USD55 vs Amazon charges USD90.  Got it in 5 days or only 3-business days. Very fast.  This is my second shipment with CompGateway and both was good experience.  They will reply my e-mails and the Live Quote was good.  However, the Live Quote may not be accurate as Amazon may pack in a bigger box when u buy multiple items to protect the items thus increasing your shipping cost to be higher than the Live Quote.

If u use OCBC Credit card, u get 8% rebate from the Shipping Cost (exclude Fuel surcharge and Insurance).  Very good deal.  Very Happy for this service.

No, so far I have not used the "BuyForMe" service. I am not sure why someone would need the "BuyForMe" service as if you have a USA Address, most vendors would deliver to such a USA Address. Only if the Vendor does not want to sell perhaps to a foreign sounding name, then you would need the "BuyForMe" service. Prior to using CompGateway and using a MY Address, many Vendors at Amazon do not deliver to MY / Foreign Address but after using a USA Address. so far no issue for me.

cfa28, i have checked from http://www.comgateway.com/2012/red3.calculator.do

Just 2 KG, the shipping cost is already more expensive (US30) than my purchase cost (US25).

Are you sure it is cheaper to ship from ComGateway?

Hi Steve at 2 kg the charges from Compgates is

First 0.50 kg = USD20.75
Next 0.50 at USD3.25 * 3 = USD9.75

Sub-total = USD29.75
10% Fuel Surcharge = USD3.05
0.65% Insurance = USD0.22

Total = USD33.77

Like I said, you should compare against what Amazon charges.

I bought some items recently for about USD85 with a volumetric weight of 5.50 kg. Amazon changes for Normal Mail was USD80 and Express (equivalent to Compgates Normal) was USD90. I also bought some recent DVD from Amazon but I did not check what Amazon charged back. then. However, after clicking on the same number of Disc, Amazon would have charged me USD50+ for Normal Mail and USD60+ for Express vs Compgates USD35.

What u can do is just go back to Amazon or which website u want to buy and go all the way until right before you click on Proceed to see what are the delivery charges.

Go to Amazon, click want to buy, select a MY Address, it will calculate for you.

If Amazon cannot find your house address, use your office address. Or just use your GF / Brother / Fren address in MY that Amazon can find.

Also, when u click on the books / links such as

http://www.amazon.com/Investment-Valuation...swath+damodaran

Product Details

Hardcover: 992 pages
Publisher: Wiley; 3 edition (April 17, 2012)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 111801152X
ISBN-13: 978-1118011522
Product Dimensions: 7 x 1.6 x 10.2 inches
Shipping Weight: 3.6 pounds (View shipping rates and policies)
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars See all reviews (22 customer reviews)
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #29,655 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Scroll down, the description is there. You can send the link to Compgates live quote. Just remember that their Live Quote may exclude fuel surcharge / insurance and if the Distributor packs in a bigger box, the cost may be higher. For my case the Live Quote gave a cost of USD45 but the actual cost was about USD50 cos of the packaging.

Frend, scroll all the way down. This is what I found:

Product Details

Paperback: 223 pages
Publisher: New Page Books; 1 edition (October 1, 2009)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1601630905
ISBN-13: 978-1601630902
Product Dimensions: 5.2 x 0.6 x 8.3 inches
Shipping Weight: 10.4 ounces (View shipping rates and policies)

Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars See all reviews (13 customer reviews)
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #561,439 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

10.4 ounces = 0.294835 hence at 0.50 kg.

Compgates will charge you USD20.75 + USD2.08 + USD0.15 = USD22.98

If you just buy this 1-book, Amazon charges are

Standard = USD9.98 (takes 1-mth to arrive with no tracking number)
Expedited (equivalent to Compgates Std) = USD19.98
Priority ((equiavalent to Compgates Express) USD35.98

If you refer to my earlier post, Amazon does not charge a base weight (like Compgates) and hence, if you buy just 1 or say up to 3 items, it may be cheaper than CompGates.

Amazon standard is up to 1-month (my case with no Tracking number). You should compare with Expedited for Apples to Apples cos my shipment from Compgates was within 1-week. and the second was 5-days

actually what do u mean by base weight?

Then I also notice that for comgateway, the shipping cost just now RM86.75 is actually based on 1.5 KG (rounded from 1.07 KG) and Not Included : Fuel surcharge, insurance, duties & taxes and domestic shipping (if any)
