For me, other than the W and Z series LCDs, the rest look horrible....especially the S series if compared to a Plasma...but take note...Sony have improved, previous one are even worst..looks like crap.

I think samsung will come out top. The koreans are better at implementing ridiculous amount of features on their products while the japs are just stingy. Its the samsung that start offer like crazy amount of HDMI port while the japs offers like 2 or 3 only. Samsung have crazy amount of pictures tweaking options while Pana have almost no picture tweaking options.

Watch out for Toshiba this year. I believe they have a 512 individual local dimming LED that could be the one to beat.

I won't go so far to say that when you see the current crop of LED LCD TV especially the samsung that even beat the plasma in most pro reviews site.

Know what, I'm waiting for 3D to be implemented to LED TV.. Ok, both have lifetime, one gas and one organic.. But the slimness and PQ that OLED TV provides seriously blow me away.. But 40" for 8k? No way.. (for me).. Unless I'm rich..

P/S: If any of my statement is incorrect, pls feel free to right the wrong.

hmm wonder hows the flat panel market will perform for 2010....

really, improving tech is one thing but whether it is profitable is another..

pioneer is one scary example....

in malaysia, i think 60-70% of the people budget for tv is around 2.5-3.5k..
my personal opinion though..

Well I've to agree with you on that - majority of Malaysians target the price bracket of between 2k-4k for thier visual entertainment investments...

For the majority the thinking is why invest more that RM3.5k for visual entertainment, when you know that it is going to be obsolete in 2 years time!

With the rate the visual entertainment manufactures are going at the moment, we will be expecting atleast 2-3 new models every 3months to be introduced in the market.

both is a good brand I will say.
before settled down with my samsung plasma, was considering of either get between these 2 brands and finally choose Samsung over Sony in terms of price and offering.
while samsung is quite stingy on many aspects, samsung is generous with more hdmi ports as well as features.
While right now it seems both is running neck to neck, in coming years time i'm sure that Samsung will be the leading of tv technology due to huge investment on R&D which always creating a new products that is ahead of it's rivals.

the future is on korean brands, what you guys think?

I think generally Sony is a bit pricier than any other brands. Personally I have a very similar case to TS: I have a 29" Sony CRT (DRC model) which is still in very good condition and a Sony 40" Bravia S400 LCD. But every time I see Samsung LEDs at shopping complexes, very tempting.

Well any display LCDs are played on Demo sample videos which are optimized for maximizing the actual potential of the LCDs itself and at such, we can't expect to get the similiar results in normal viewing.

That's right I think. Or else, I'd have managed to see the disturbing burn-in effect..

I am using Samsung's LCD TV just bought it recently, but not really satisfied me.
Samsung 's port is not really good thr,1 of the port seems like "failure",but still can't confirm is its problem or my hdmi cable.but so far go for gaming & movie is great.

Sony?still in research for it...

This the price Sony is paying for not participating early in the flat panel market. It became complacent and arrogant, resting on its CRT laurels.
I'm waiting for this giant to wake up and start taking the lead in flat panel innovation and start offering cool stuffs for its panels.
But I'm not holding my breath seeing how Walkman lost to iPod.

To me, iPod success is because of media (which puts the item as a 'high-class' or 'popular' product) and Apple itself, who loves to innovate cool looking stuff with scary prices.. I like most of their product, but never own one..

It's like I'm paying lots of money so that people could look at me and just to experience 'fluid-like' interface..

P/S: Fluid-like is my own terms referring to the GUI that visually looks cool.. Sorry if I offended u. =)
