Recently, I started following the 8minutes workout on Youtube.

I was wondering, just by doing that, will I get 6abs? If so, how long?
And I've browsed around the forum(not much) and found out about doing cardio.
Thus, I tried doing cardio and tried measuring my heartbeat it reached up to 160([15s heartbeat]x4) when doing my workout for 2nd time.

I googled max heart beat rate for my age (15) it was 205.

My cardio is as follow :
10x pushup
10x squats
10x crunch
30seconds of jumping jacks
for 20minutes.

I've only tried it for a day, and, any suggestions for some badass results? I really want 6-abs.
By the way, I cannot go to gym for workout because I can't drive and my parents just won't fetch me there for some stupid reason.
And I have one dumbbell, only one. I can spend about RM50~ on some gym equipments to complete my 6-abs at home.

I'm 65kg @ 17xcm. Any suggestions?

Cardio and dieting. The only way you're going to get visible abs is if you lower your bodyfat. You don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment to get abs. doh.gif

Your cardio is barely intense enough. Stick to the basics, ie jogging and swimming or HIIT.

The routine is good enough..add more sets.. compile the routine into 1 set..then just do like 4-5 sets for a start...then do more...this is like cross-training already..

Hey, thanks for your quick reply.
I can barely go swimming, but jogging, yes, how long should I be doing it? And, should I wear weights?

I have absolute zero knowledge about dieting. Any tips?
By the way, whats HIIT? Lastly, should I be keep on doing my 6abs workout?

The hell you wanna wear weights for? Screw that.

Just do whatever you are doing now but add more sets...

Sorry for being stupid. Does add more sets mean doing it for another 20minutes? Or double every each exercise? And lol because I see people wear weights when they jog.

What i meant was...

10x pushup
10x squats
10x crunch
30seconds of jumping jacks

that is one set..eg; after pushup straightaway move to squats then crunch then J.jacks. After that rest for like 40 seconds - 60 seconds. then repeat the set again. Start of with 3-4 sets..time yourself and no you will never see that 6 pack of muscle at the abdominal cavity instantly..you need to eat well.

And no you don't sound stupid. There are people that are even stupider( is that even a word? biggrin.gif)

Oh, thank you, really. But I did that for 20minutes continuosly.(Of course, it's really tiring after doing it) Should I return to 3-4 sets?

I, of course, want to eat well. All I know is eating less, which doesn't work as I've gone through some sites. I want 6-abs, not lose weight.
Any tips for it? I also know by spam eating vege is good, is it true?

Oh just eat whatever Mummy cooks, with the following deviations:

1. Stop drinking sugared drinks
2. Eat fewer grains of rice

No.2 is optional if you presently like drinking sweet drinks.

You cannot have 6PK without losing weight. The whole farking idea behind this all is to lose weight.

Added on August 7, 2009, 12:29 amDepending on how chubby and committed you are, you'll start seeing results after several months, not weeks.

Thats why I say rest in between sets. Don't ever eat less. Eat adequately. 6 packs are layers of muscles. The biological structures are the same in general to other muscle tissues. It needs to achieve a certain level of bodyfat before the mid section is clearly visible . icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

I swim once a week HIIT style for about 20 mins. Mostly just to jack up my metabolism and improve VO2max. Like you, I'm trying to regain my 6PK after having lost them to some overzealous eating. Calorie restriction is everything! Exercise is an inefficient way of burning calories.

Weight training certainly helps reduce body fat percentage, in fact I know a couple of girls who do weight training in addition to cardio to speed up their progress.

The video shows some basic, low difficulty exercises and its good if you can do them every day, but to really see results they MUST be complemented with cardio and control of your food intake.
All these must be done together to get any solid progress, can't have one without the others.
