I just bought hamster WW normal and saphire one each last month. This is my first attempt try to have a pet. I took up hamster because I thought it would be easier than dogs.
I took pet adoption because my sister say i need to learn to take responsibility and love something to get my anger in control. So far I'm good with my hamsters. They are active mostly during the night.
I eat well drink well and also urine and sh*t a lot. I clean the cage every week, if not ants will attack my cage.
I only give hamster food. I let them play in hamster bath sand once in every two weeks. I let them play with hamster ball on and off. they like to go around in hamster ball.
I want to know how to estimate hamster age?
Will my hamster fight each other?
I bought evo habitral cage for rm100. I think the shop guy cheated me. Its less expensive in lawyat. Anyone know a good hamster petshop in JB. One of my hamster ball fall down (no hamster inside) and broke. I need to buy one.
How to make hamster happy? Does talking to hamster make them happy? My hamster usually ignore me when I talk to them.

does your hamster has diabetes? Symptoms of diabetes include urinating a lot also. I don't know how to check hamster for diabetes. I only feed hamster little amount daily and my hamster don't urinate much. When I feed a lot my hamster urinate a lot. so i think my hamster got diabetes and i control my hamsters feeding. u try and see lah....

Diabetes - common in some types of hamster. They show signs of excessive thirst and urination and the eyes can become cloudy with cataracts.

Most of the pet shop in johor bahru does not have a lot of hamster stuff. The one I go so far only have one type of cage and even hard to find the bathing sand.

Can anyone suggest a good pet shop in JB for hamster shopping?

I want to buy bedding, bathing sand and if the price of the cage is attractive I will buy one cage also. I need a bigger cage.

PS: There was this pet shop in taman damai , the workers don't know what is hamster ball!!!!

Added on November 27, 2010, 4:19 amyes its normal. Hamster naturedly sleeps in tunnel burrowed in the sands.

For JB small animal owners good news
This is the only petshop so far that specilises on small animal and scorpion in johor bahru. I have searched many petshop and most of the petshop selling service and care for large animals like dogs and cats. For small animal lovers in JB can go here. The price is reasonable also, almost all the things are same price as in LYN.

What is the red dot? Should you bring your hamster to a vets and checked it out? How can a caged animals that don't come contact with outside world get a mite?
I think it may have a skin disease. Checked it at a vet.
Its ok if he urinate in the sand. Just change it to new. Urine in sand also can cause skin itchiness to hamster. Don't leave the urine in sand too long. May be he got itchy when he go to this sand that's why don't like the sand any more!
