haha ic ic
erm its true one cause im a psychology student actually undertaking pet behaviour studies it was found that hamsters get stressed when their stuff are moved around its just like you la, if someone go in your room and rearrange all your things in a "neater" way you wont like it either would you? also if you all choose a hamster, never choose a hamster that keeps grooming themself you may think wah so cute the hamster groom groom groom but when animals keep grooming (applies to cats too) they are stressed grooming helps them distress and relieve anxiety thats why some animals when they upset.. they go bald more obvious in cats |

if your hamster is tame and close to you
you will be the one who relieve their stress lor pat them sayang them most of the time you have to observe what makes them ticks la actually hamlet especially hates when i clean cage and he found out all his treasure (hoarded food) is gone >.< last time i had to do report on animal behaviour observe minimum 3 hours from non verbal behaviour get to know their personality better ya my lecturer say, her friend got a maine coon its a rare cat and it gets stressed cause it was trapped at home haha turn out nearly bald so beware if it overgrooms |

i believe you should seperate the father to avoid any problems
there is a probability that the mother will attack the father or father attack the child best not to leave the father in This post has been edited by *dReaM FaNtaSy*: Jul 22 2011, 10:38 AM |

infernaswen, manage to find the pet shop?
markjohn, i dont think im buying the tank cause have to sell off my 1.5 ft i put my hamster at my bookcase now, since its 1.5 ft the distance from the top of the tank from the next level's shelf is quite big, so hamlet have loads of fresh air but if i get 2ft, i scared the height too tall also, then the gap small i scared the air stale |

QUOTE(markjohn @ Jul 23 2011, 10:52 PM) owhhh...just bought chocolate n noodle live mealworm... well if he doesnt like it cant really forcebut choco dont seem to touch it...even if i give with my own hand.. noodles seems to love it... how do i make choco eat it?i even put 3 at his food bowl... but if you wanna try to make him eat let choco see noodles eat the mealworm if he observes and still doesnt want to imitate try this when noodles eats her mealworm, reward her with her favourite food, note that the favourite food here should be choco's fav food as well (treat that they dont get in their normal staple food all the time) that way, when noodles eat her mealworm and get rewarded, it may make choco more likely to try the mealworm in order to get the reward make sure when noodles gets her reward, choco saw it it may take several attempts before choco realizes the system also, you should do it pretty continuously, so that choco learns the pairing of mealworm and rewards |

yeah chipsi classic better
dont use scented ones living world im not sure but whatever shaving you use dont use those with cedar or pine i repeat... no cedar or pine! i read from forum saying new chipsi no longer say theirs is not pine or cedar they say softwood which is also harmful to hamster thats why i know alot of people suggest breeder celect but i know from what i heard things that were created for cats should be used with caution when used with hamsters i.e. cat litter sand cannot use for hamster |
