On the tenancy agreement form you have to pay a certain amount of duti setem equivalent to the price of the rent right? does anyone have the price or chart that they usually put on their notice board where it goes by the price of month and yearly basis?
Any difference between the price i pay in lhdn and other government places?
Or better if anyone knows the calculation.

that's what i thought.. your future tenants bear the stamping cost. thus, you'd like to find out as a matter of academic perspective or cost perspective?
i personally wouldn't bothered much about stamping cost.. from a landlord's point of view.

rental per month x 12 - 2400 / 250 = ans round it up to nearest $1.... (only for 1 yr tenancy, if more than a year, just multiply the ans to number of yrs but not exceed 3 yrs) add $10 for copy.... thats only for stamp duty...

Thanks lek for the formula and its accurate QUOTE(lwb @ Aug 6 2009, 06:12 PM) that's what i thought.. your future tenants bear the stamping cost. thus, you'd like to find out as a matter of academic perspective or cost perspective? i personally wouldn't bothered much about stamping cost.. from a landlord's point of view. Tenants bear ? I thought it was the landlord who does all the payment, but i have to know how to persuade them even if i want them to pay right, for the benefit of both parties if either one of us breach the contract, or is it written in the law that the future tenant should cover all the stamping cost?

you can always reposition a thought. perhaps you've been 'diy' all along. go talk to a real-estate agent.. maybe you'll get an idea on how the rental industry moves along? for me, i don't have to persuade my tenants to pay for stamping.. they understand the rule and they pay up QUOTE(SpaceBeast @ Aug 7 2009, 09:31 AM) Tenants bear ? It is a common practise that tenant pay for the setem duty and agreement. I have 2 tenants and they paid for it. There is no law or black and white states that tenant is the one to pay. It is just a common practise here.. Of course you can pay also if you want to .. no problem .. your tenants will love you more
