Anybody read this? http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...6376&sec=nation

AS1M subscription period extended. As of August 25, more than 2 billion units have been subscribed....  sweat.gif
*
the 2 billion amount is not the point, but the number of investors at 148,830 is kinda pathetic.

<< KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Saham shares worth RM100mil will be given to the hardcore poor in urban areas to help them make ends meet, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.>>

<<The first phase of the units would be sold on Oct 10 in the Federal Territory.>>

Hi,

1) Can anyone decode what does this means??  If something is given, why do you need to buy??

2) If this is AS1M, would that means the government is using the AS1M's shareholder's money to do charity??  Now, if this is NOT AS1M, which ASx is this??

Dreamer

meh, the money were probably syphone out and the "charity" is just an excuse.

i dont think so, once u hit the 200K max, only the reinvested dividend can be added on
*
then will the added dividend be compounded as well?

say you already max out 200k, plus the divident lets say 15000, then the next year will the divident calculated at 215,000 or 200,000?

Added on August 24, 2010, 8:58 pm
QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jul 26 2010, 08:35 AM)
The 200K is the amount invested. It doesnt include the interest earned. So u can keep it forever and the amound can reach even 400-500K. The interest is calculated on the balance available. So if u withdraw then the interest you get will be lesser.
*
oh!
so the dividend will be calculated from 400-500k?
woah, then if 9% divident return can get 45000 free money a year?? sweat.gif

you sound like non bumi and so am i, bear in mind you can almost get free money if you put you despoits with PNB and take loan back from them if you are bumi at a lower rate.

*
mind to explain more? you mean like put x money in ASB then get a loan for x money from Bank with the x money in ASB account as collateral?

but if I am not mistaken..even if to used ASB as collateral as loan...you can only use the CERT as collateral....meaning if you put cash in to your asb then it doesnt count...have to apply asb loan to get the cert, then use the cert as collateral...

yes u must be convert the money in the passbook to the form of certificate then use the cert to apply for OD facility, I nderstand now the agent banks don't offer OD to individual name, only to the sole propriertor. Means ASB cert under personal name, OD under sole prop name
*
to convert to cert means like how?
still can withdraw the money like normal? or cannot, and have to leave the money in asb for some period like Fixed deposit?

QUOTE(amalthea @ Oct 19 2010, 04:19 AM)
cert
you can withdraw like normal, but unlike passbook, it is used if you wanna trade in the entire lumpsum
for example 100K cert + 100K cert = 200K cert
passbook, you can withdraw as much as your desire, 20K today and 50K tomorrow. more flexible like a savings account.

BUT once you have given in to the bank as coleteral, why does it matter? you cannot have access to it anyway.
if this your question than what i can say is only  doh.gif
*
so you mean If I already use the cert as collateral...I cannot use the money in ASB?

lets say I got 100k in asb, then I convert it to cert to become collateral for OD 100k, but I dont actually have 200k to use, but instead only 100k, yes?

Because the quota for ASW2020 for Chinese, Indian and non-bumi minorities are fully subscribed, hence the "non-bumi". As for AS1M, only the Chinese quota is fully subscribed, hence the "Chinese".
*
so you mean the quota is actually seperated between, bumi, and chinese, Indian, other non bumi minorities, instead of grouping them all as non bumi?

Not sure about ASW2020, all i know is that it is divided to 49% non-bumi and the rest for bumi. As for AS1M, indeed it is divided between bumi, Chinese, Indian and non-bumi minorities.

Hello guys, just want to know is it imperative for Bumis to maxed out their ASB just bcoz of the 8%-10% dividend p.a.?

One more question, if I save around RM1k per month, how many years does it take to reach that quota? Thx

more than 10, less than 15
