hi guys, going a bit out of the current discussion.

This is my situation,I was born outside malaysia. I opened an ASB account once. then it was rejected and the money was refunded, something about my birthplace not being malaysia (cant remember the exact contents of the letter, was  a while back). Mom and dad are malaysian, Malaysian IC and birth cert,

So im wondering if anyone who has encountered this can advise me on what to do to get my ASB account. Hope to get more info here before actually going  to the ASB office.

thx in advance

Bumi born outside of Malaysia is not a bumi ?
Maybe you should re-check your bumi status on your IC using the IC reader. As long as you are a proven bumi, I don't see any reason why you can't buy ASB.

Article in the The Star says that the original 30-day offer period ends on 4 Sept.. Does this mean we can top up on 4 Sept,  or we have do it on the next day on 5 Sept ?

Starting from 4th Sep, the subscription of AS1M units has no limit subject to availability and races allocation.

Your dividend payout should be prorated for 6 months....
If they announce 6%..then you get prorated of 3%...

Because he says he wants to buy NOW. So it will only have another 6 months to the announcement of the dividend at the end of the financial year September 2010.

This thread has becoming less interesting and boring nowadays from my obervation for the last one month, there are many newbies that ask simple and repeated questions every now and then without referring to the earlier thread, or referring to www.asnb.com.my website which is very informative...some of the common questions below have been repeated more than 10 times and still got new comers come and ask the same questions again and again...among the questions are:

a) where can i buy asnb products?
b) AS1M non bumi quota still got? when will they open for chinese quota again? chinese quota full. Then what abt indian quota leh, still got?
c) out of all the funds which is the best? i am a bumi
d) i bought the ASW 10 years ago in post office, i want to sell it now, where can i sell it?
e) what is the max amount i can withdraw from the PNB per day?
f) what is the opening hour for PNB?
g) any sales commission for ASW, ASM?
h) AS1M got sales commission?
i) ASW chinese quota still got?
j) i am still a student, can i invest in 100ringgit? what is the minimun investment amount? u guys invest 10K? why u guys so rich one?
k) what time post office open?

almost every page of the thread the above same questions (at least one) will be apperead....

relax bro, this is the norm in Malaysian's forum. can't help it because you simply can't control it. Questions were posted by people from various back ground all over Malaysia and you can't expect every one will be thinking the same as you. Just ignore or skip the repeated stuff that all.

AS1M allocation:
50% Malay, 30% Chinese, 15% Indian and 5% Others

Wow a fund that has racial quota written on it and PNB calls that 'One Malaysia'  shakehead.gif . I would like to subscribe to a fund that is truly 100% malaysian without asking me my race but my nationality.

Complaint about local university Chinese quota ? AS1M Chinese quota ? Housing quota ? this quota, that quota not enough for Chinese ?? Well, First of all, there is a NEP, therefore there is a quota system then secondly the Chinese have them self to blame. The quota is based upon official statistic and official statistic is based upon national census (Banci) which is held once every 10 years.
The last census was Banci Penduduk Dan Perumahan Malaysia 2010
The problem is most Chinese community don't like to participate in census and as the result the official statistic of Chinese population is lower than actual. If the Chinese don't want to tell the government their actual number, how on earth would the Government know the Chinese quota is actually higher ?
Next Banci in 2020, the Chinese have to change their mind set. Cooperate fully with the banci officers and disclose all members in the family, your religion (important, otherwise the statistic would show your religion is very insignificant ground in Malaysia and you get lesser and lesser attention) etc etc.... other things like how many TV, PC etc etc at home, can just simply tembak.

The objective of census are

If the idea here is to help raise the living standards and while enabling the rakyat to learn/do investments, wouldnt it be more logical to have quotas based on income level for government initiated investments than race-based?

Same with housing quota & this/that quota - maybe laced with meritocracy for education lar biggrin.gif

So what if the official statistics show 99.99% of race X and 0.01% of race Y, if the idea is to bring up the standard of living of the poor?
Shouldnt it be xx% poor, yy% middle-income, zz% high-income, and then using those statistics instead?
Statistics - can be used by politicians and liers to twist facts or can be used properly tongue.gif

Hmm.. just a thought - no wrong or right, just maybe not too right, which happens everywhere in the world blush.gif
*
You are not wrong tongue.gif But the fact remain a fact. we have NEP here and we have the quota system. Our elected government designed the NEP. Unless Parliament abolish it. The Chinese have to change their attitude towards Banci if they want more AS1M ASW2020 etc share in the quota system.

There's a known fact about the govt that is too sensitive to discuss here but i will keep quiet for the sake of not getting into a war. There's one thing for sure, u still see many chinese standing strong or even stronger even with all the racial dicrimination by our 'beloved' country. Chinese aint born weak man.
*
The more chauvinist Chinese claim openly they are financially superior than other race the more damage they do the the Chinese community and the better reason for NEP to stay longer. In actual fact the Bumiputra already control the Malaysian economy cake but they remain humble and never claim financial superiority over the Chinese and very often we read in the newspaper that the Bumi are still lagging behind Chinese economically.
