Hi fellow Blackberry-ians,

I have a question here i which i need help with. I have recently bought a Storm from the States and its been unlocked, which is working fine with my current Maxis line. But must i sign up for the Maxis data plans for Blackberry to be able to use the internet on my mobile or can i use the conventional way of utilizing 3G to surf the net? Currently whenever i turn on my browser and it says i dont have the correct settings.

Another question, i have downloaded a couple of softwares from the net and copied them into the phone but i failed to find the files after i have copied them into the memory card. Its some ".JAD" files which i think should be compatible with the phone isnt it? How do i interface the phone with the PC ? (what i meant was not just a mere copy and paste but to be able to control the phone with my PC)

Really appreciate your help. cry.gif

Thanks smile.gif

1. you need BIs to use the browser, but alternatively you use 3rd party browser such a opera that use APN - TCP/IP setting

2. you need a desktop manager to load the application.
desktop manager will be able to load .alx .cod extension.
While you are right about JAD.* extension. you just need to copy the jad and its cod s file to the memory card,
then go to media to explore the files. click the JAD to install
but this is actually a workaround for OTA installation so without browser enabled I am not sure this will work for u.

Good one. The poor chap can't even load simple apps into his phone and you are offering a cookie trail that begins at the service book? That's like telling a first time skydiver that his cookie trail starts at pulling the parachute cord... and then push him off the plane.

i guess that poor chap would likely have to start reading alot of stuff..

some devices are not meant for children below certain ages, merely because of it's complexity and the myriad ways to configure it..

you're talking about a 'smartphone'.. if the user has the inability to be a little smarter.. the smartphone will be just a phone..

there're plenty of serious forums for blackberry around.. i made use of them to learn the tricks.. i took apart my trackball to clean it recently and i found a good step-by-step (photo as opposed to those blur youtube versions.. because you need the clarity/detail to place back the roller mechanism!)
