Greetings everybody. I am not sure if this has ever been brought up before but I would like some general views and and opinions regarding Yamaha and Marantz AVRs. I decided to start a new topic so that hopefully I could get some unbiased views as well.

Basically I am going to be making an AVR purchase in the near future and have basically setttled on 2 models. The Yamaha RV-1900 and the Marantz SR6003. Both seem to have received great reviews. I know that the 1900 seems a little more feature packed with a higher price tag while the Marantz appears to be more musical which is an important factor in my decision. Hopefully existing owners of the above as well as others will be able to shed more light on these two units.

Of all the brands within this range, the Yamaha and the Marantz both gave convincing 2 CH audio performance. The others were good but not to my liking. Music is very important to me and I cannot afford to be having two separate systems for music and av. I must say however I found the Marantz to be better with music compared to the Yamaha. The RV-1900 has a higher power rating than the SR6003 and with the 24bit Burr Brown DACs the music was sweet. Somehow though the Marantz was still more musical.

Having said all that however, the RV-1900 did have more features and yes the bass was stronger which I love but living in an intermediate terrace with wife, child and not so big hall, the extra power and bass is a bit redundant BUT its always nice to know you have it should you need it in the future. So really I am trying to get the best of both worlds (music and surround) which is a tall order in this price band I know but I believe either one of these AVRs will suffice.

Its just that I can't decide which one will be equally good in bed as well as the kitchen.
