If music is very important for you then you should consider at stereo valve amp.Depends which range of tubes that you would prefer to and yr taste.300B tube are good for vocal and u can get for used set while KT88 tubes are punchy.EL34 also can consider as this tube are common easly to get hence EL34 tubes not expensive.
Just an advice.

Indeed music is very important. Sadly however, I do not have the space or the budget for a separate stereo amp. I know what you mean about the tubes. I have heard what Audio Research have done but I can only dream at this point.

i am an ardent Yammy fan, have tried sky dragon but jump back to yammy

but this case ( not bias ok) i go for the yammy which supports more features
Y.... Just choose any 2 reasons enuf liao

~1900 support USB playback,
Firmware upgradable thru USB and Networl ( that hopefully can make your AVR more future proof) who knows maybe the next upgrade can support FLAC playback on USB

~more DSP if bored by ori DTS HD and True HD can always switch to others

~ support Additional Front Presence Speakers
(w/o sacrificing the SL&SR channels) This is what Onkyo and denon Newer Generation is launching the so called Pro Logic IIz ~~ or height Speakers

~3D surround

~Top Class Anchor Bay chip, optimised upscaling HDMI out

sorry another Reason not feature (most important), 1900 has (i should say 90%) of 3900 minus the extra Bluetooth/DLNA support and network features.
Its basically share the same circuitry as 3900 at ....
so you get affordable $$$ for 3900 qualities

Its the same as 2809 and 3808

Happy audition... biggrin.gif

All very good reasons to get the 1900. I know for sure that the 1900 costs more than the 6003. Still scouting around but so far the lowest I have for the 1900 is 4.6K (which I know is not the lowest) and 3.5K for the 6003 (which I am still waiting for confirmation). Anyone know where I can get better prices than these?

I ask A&L Amcorp and they quote me 4.1k for 1900. No stock for 6003 but should be around 3.3k

Well, after a more detailed comparison, I would have to say that between the two, the Marantz 6003 is still tops for 2 ch SQ but the 1900 is better overall hence the higher price tag because you really do get more. However, it seems Marantz will be launching the 6004 soon and it looks as though the price will be around the same as the 1900 while being more competitive to the 1900 at the same time. Might wait for that one to be released instead. Anyone know when it will be out??

We will have to wait and see how the SR6004 will perform. Based on the performance of the 6003 it looks very promising. As for value for money, it depends heavily on what you percieve as valuable to you. The 1900 certainly has many more features while the Marantz places a strong emphasis on sound quality. So see which one means the most to you.
