QUOTE(braveheart @ Sep 19 2009, 12:31 AM) Wanted to go tonite but it rained cats and dogs and cancelled plans as many places were flooded. Need to go tmrw as I need them on the spot. He told me those prices are FINAL prices. Cannot discuss anymore. As I needed 2 units of the 32" so he will have to give me below the quoted price. He was also surprised that so many of you all got the news so fast and already seeing it. I told him not to simply use tembak sales method as you fellas know tons more technically than him. Price wise we all have the advantage to squeeze more discounts since he knows we have all grouped up together. I told him that clearly. He won't simply fool around since we are serious about this. He also don't want to kena screwed again. But overall he is a helpful guy just some things are out of his control. |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Sep 18 2009, 03:50 PM) chewkl, Just came back again from viewing the TV, again. My mission this round was to compare the blacks as 1 brother here commented that the 650 have deeper blacks than the 550. I tried very hard to play "spot the difference" between the 2 models, but I have to say that unless U look very very very hard, both model's blacks are virtually the same. The only time U can see a difference is when there is a very dark background, like a person's black coat or jacket. (spotted this in the Samsung breakdance demo clip in 1 of the guy's black jacket in the background). That was the only scene I could see the difference and again it is very hard to spot. U have to deliberately look for it to see the difference. In the other Samsung demo scenes, the cartoon and also Soundstage, I couldn't tell any difference at all. End up I spotted the more natural skintones on the 650, without even looking hard for it...Like I said, must be my peasant eyesight. I have to get into the service menu and see if the CMS adjustments (Colour Space Custom) is available and that all 6 channels (RGBCYM) are avail for adjustments. But I highly doubt it since the firmwares will be different and the CMS portion would not be there. BTW, Alan is not around today. Got some super leng lui promoter instead. |

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ Sep 21 2009, 03:46 PM) B650 gives a better black than B550 under bright room condition due its AR coating. Those 2 TVs I saw were in super bright conditions, already very hard for me to spot the difference. In home environment with controlled lighting I'm not sure how much edge the 650 will have over its lower sibling.Btw I saw Panasonic Z and V series in person. It was By all means, elites with fat wallet can consider Z series. It's a piece of fine art |

Obviously the best comparison would be after both have gone through ISF calibration, but what are the chances of that?
Want to find the B650 in Penang also have to wait until the cows come home liao... |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Sep 21 2009, 05:01 PM) chewkl, Thanks for the explanation bro. The white light behind the TV (poor man's ambilight), I thought that was the recommended way to watch these fixed panel displays. Now I know it is used to cheat. (No wonder my 50" fishtank very nice with the white light behind (for my peasant eyes lah)). Actually, black levels differences are clearer in dim lit/dark environment. In bright environment, your iris closes quite a bit, thus the black level differences cannot be seen so clearly. In dim/dark environment, your iris is wide open, thus the blacks become dark grey. Thats why black levels become important when viewed in dimly lit/dark environment. Another way to "cheat" the iris to enhance black levels is to use a bias lighting behind the display (for fixed panels only). This way you force your iris not to open too much thus having washed up blacks. So, in essence, if you can spot black level differences in a showroom environment, the difference is greater in your home. |

Just managed to get a look at LCD B650 vs Plasma B650 side by side in Ikano just now. In terms of PQ, the plasma is much better than the LCD, especially the black levels.

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ Oct 18 2009, 08:41 AM) Mine is 400 hours. No IR. Wah bro like that how long only can break in? My old fishtank, I check usage after 1.5 years, only about 1200 hours usage. Reading from avs, tv wont break in even after 600 hours I only change setting after 200+ hours and run break in dvd to 'clean' screen sometimes. Added on October 18, 2009, 8:42 am Tot elite chew already gotten one... |

Whoops correction, it is 63PSB680, not B650.
Dunno why but I dun see the purplish AR filter on this B680 but on the 50B650 it is very noticeable. |
