well again a hat trick from messi + he win a penalty for us.

feel sorry for ibra, its like he cant find his finishing touch. he miss likes 4 clear goal chances today. and lastly i like how the team support ibra.

visca el barca!
*
That is one of the special trait of the team. Remember how they support Bojan by giving him a chance to convert a PK? That was in the last season I think. The team shows that they can show immense support for their teammates, as long as the troubled fellow work his socks off for the team.

He might have missed sitters, but at least he managed to get involved in plenty of actions. That is a positive sign. Hopefully he can cope with his 'disadvantage' of being tall, which so far has been the reason why he always being called foul each time he challenged high balls.

Damnit, Zaragoza players prefer to kick Messi rather than the ball. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Which goal? The third goal? I remember Ibra missed a sitter after Pedro fed him nicely. That was the worst blunder of the night doh.gif doh.gif And right after that, Messi completed his hattrick smile.gif But I think on that occasion Ibra applauded the goal, while Pedro tried to talk to him, instead of celebrating. That was nice by Pedro smile.gif

Some haters accuse Messi of being greedy last night. LOL. What's wrong with greediness? Damn Marca they are the ones who started the trend doh.gif doh.gif

so sorry for ibra that can't find his foot at laliga...well that's football.
*
He is YET to find his foot. He has done well at the start of the season, that everybody thought his life in La Liga was set to be very smooth, until referees start making him playing football-without-body-contact, which obviously would unsettle any footballer.

QUOTE(jaws_bodo @ Mar 22 2010, 10:48 PM)
i don't what they gonna do with ibra...seriously he doesn't know how to score anymore....the way he is playing make me miss eto so muchh
*
Eto'o and Barca has parted ways dude. Get over it. Eto'o was great for us, but now Ibra is our main striker. If you feel Ibra doesn't convince you, you have to convince yourself that Barca will help Ibra, like the way we helped Milito. I think he is gonna be find. Take Henry's case for example.

I'm sure guys have noticed how Milito did well for us too. I think he is actually a great defender. He just have to play in a UCL final and win to be recognized highly. Hope he stays fit after this, and Jorge Valdano will surely have to eat back his words back by then. biggrin.gif

What do you guys think of hleb? Do you see him coming back? I hope he does, after seeing what he did in the first leg of the QFs..
*
Well, I don't think he will be back. Maybe he will be a good cover, but it remains a question on how Hleb's commitment to Barca. Pep will never like his action of threatening to leave the team when Pep snubbed him for a bench slot during UCL final. Pep preferred Muniesa instead. He still fail to grasp Spanish well enough. If Barca decide to keep him, it will be complicated.

QUOTE(foofoosasa @ Mar 23 2010, 09:08 PM)
but the way, i think recently barcelona way too much rely on messi. although i am hapopy messi at his top form now,but i dun think this is good sign especially to other player in barca.
*
IMHO, its logical that we rely on the best player in the world. That is the reason why we nurtured and invested so heavily in him at the first place. But no need to worry, Barca have shown they can cope without Messi. Remember the match against Inter? Even Pedro tormented Maicon and Zanetti biggrin.gif

Oh and what do you think of this?

Ibra was again very involved. Good signs from the Swede.

Pedro attempted several really good passes. One for Messi, but Messi failed to convert.

Puyol+Milito combination performed reasonably well.

Alves' crosses were horrible doh.gif doh.gif

Valdes saved from an one on one situation again. Vadocz had all the time in the world for that shot, but VV was equal to it. Did you look at that del Bosque?

barca playing bad in that game i would say.....i want to convince myself...but after the game tonight....it make me scare for barca to face real madrid and arsenal sweat.gif
*
So what? Barca have no hope after that performance?

Pep admitted he made mistakes in selecting the team. Pep experimented with the side, and it didn't work out. The team realize their mistake. As long as they know their weaknesses, and try to fix them, although those solutions may not always turn out well, there is no reason to lose hope in the team. They are not letting their guard down.

What about after Zaragoza game? Stuttgart? Valencia? Can't you take the positives from those games? Or are you just going to ignore them?

You have to ask yourself, why we struggled against Chelsea, while we role over Man Utd so easily? Why we lost to Espanyol at Camp Nou, but we won 2-6 at Benabeu?

IMO, Arsenal and RM fans should be worrier than us. Both clubs rely on their attacks too. They are not accustomed to defensive tactics, because they don't have the defensive discipline like smaller teams have. While we have to pray that our player remains patient with the ball and stick to their own self, their fans have to pray that their players limit their attacking style so that the game won't be too open which would always benefit Barca and Messi. In simpler words, Barca players can be themselves, while Arsenal/RM players cannot. Now which side have the advantage? Our side, or them?

Fabregas injured? Anyone?
Any possibility Henry will play? Or Pep will left him again on the stand?
*
I've heard that as well. I don't care if he couldn't make it for the next match. But I hope he will play in the return match. Would like to see how the Camp Nou crowd greet him.

Henry? No comment from me. After he said he doesn't want to play against Arsenal, I just hope Pep talks to him, and see whether he is ready to carry his task or not. I think he shouldn't release such statement to the media. Everybody know his love for Arsenal, so no need to say 'I don't want to play', or 'I'm not ready' or what not.

Not a problem I think. We have options to replace him. Toure-Busi combination worked very well last time, or Keita may slot in very nicely as well. The LW position may be complicated a bit. But having Pedro playing there is not an absolute nightmare, isn't it? tongue.gif

Did u guys see that corner, where ibra used his back to shove the ball back to messi to shoot, only to draw to a good save..
I lol'ed so hard.. Well, ibra is on his way back i guess..
*
Ibra did that from Pedro's cross no? If Messi scored that time, Catalan papers will have their front pages for Sunday issue popping with all bombastic words. And Ibra's bad performances would have simply be ignored by now.

"If I had to play for free I would," assured Messi, who admits that he's really happy with the ball at his feet. "Money allows you to live better, but it's not what inspires me. I live to play football, not for it's economic benefits and play for my team not for myself."
The Argentinian acknowledged that "the individual awards are nice", but stressed that "collective success is more important."

Lionel Messi. rclxms.gif

He is incredible. One can write a 2500-words article about his talents alone, but it would require another 2500 words to describe his brilliant personality.

People may say I'm exaggerating. Well, am I? I think I'm not. Messi is THAT good as a person smile.gif

Thx for posting it dude rclxms.gif rclxms.gif I like the bolded part.

Another article about Cesc history at Barca here. The story is more or less similar, but the BBC version has these brilliant paragraphs:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I won't dwell on Cesc's possible return, but I am really looking forward towards the 2nd leg. He grew up under the shadow of Camp Nou, even dreamed to play there. His wish will become true, but sadly he won't wear the blaugrana shirt.

Anyway,

My prediction:

Valdes
Alves - Puyi - Pique - Abidal
Xavi - Busi - Toure
Messi - Ibra - Pedro:P

With all due respect to Arsenal, the match was shockingly 1 sided before TW came in. I've seen sides like Xerez, Osasuna and Espanyol displayed much more resistance than Arsenal produced.

The first 15 minutes, Barca already mustered 12 shots on goal, and 6 of them are on target. I think Barca players themselves didn't expect this at all. After that, they significantly lower their tempo, playing like on the training pitch, without any intensity. It's such a shame we couldn't score during that period. Ibra's blunder early on was insane doh.gif doh.gif

And lastly, damn, I do want to see Cesc at Camp Nou doh.gif doh.gif

QUOTE(foofoosasa @ Apr 1 2010, 10:08 AM)
another mistake made by pep..y he substitute ibra away...LOL...really dun understand.
*
Dude, I'm sure Pep has his own reason. He obviously has the Athletic encounter in his mind.

I think this is also the reason why Messi was deployed with more reserved tactic than usual. All this is to preserved energy for that potentially bruising encounter. Moreover, the game will be at San Mames. So it will be very demanding match sweat.gif sweat.gif

QUOTE(maximus85 @ Apr 1 2010, 10:14 AM)
the return leg is next week only... no? unsure.gif

I think the return leg will be next week.

QUOTE(R80 @ Apr 1 2010, 10:24 AM)
i hope Iniesta will be back for 2nd leg. Yaya should play instead of Busquet.
*
Why? I think Busi did well very enough just now. Toure will take Keita's place if he get to play.

I'm sure other cules aren't too bothered with that, as Milito and Toure are as good as Puyi-Pique. But we shall see. If Marquez plays, then Nasri should target him tongue.gif tongue.gif

definitely..but i don't know how pep will manage the players as after the arsenal clash barca would face real madrid the next 3,4 days.

I think barca would press for an early goals, if they manage than they can play more calm and relax.. no urgency..

so..arshavin and gallas also could not make it to 2nd leg.. thats a blow for them too....
*
I do hope Pep start to rotate his players more. Chyggy has remained idle for too long, and JDS should get more minutes, since he has been training with the first team for a while now. And Jeffren looked very menacing as well last time he played.

Hasn't Chyggy learned anything after all this while he only concentrated on training? We can't determine whether he has learn anything if we don't test him. Oh well, he might have not learn anything, maybe that's the reason Pep is not ready to play him just yet doh.gif doh.gif

LOL, Ibra was withdrawn in Arsenal game, only to get injured when warming up for the next match doh.gif doh.gif

How was last night match? I only watched the last 20 minutes. From what I saw, Bojan's stamina seemed limitless. He closed down every opponent. Very hardworking.

BTW, how many La Masia products played last night? 10?

nod.gif . i think definitely improved... not like last time he looked really nervous, this time around he's calmer and in charge. His long lob pass to pedro was a great one i think if not for pedro caught a bit offside..
*
Exactly what I thought it would be. He was always nervous in previous games, and Valdes always yelled at him because of his horrible back passes and slow responses. With intensive training on his tactical awareness and composure, he'll be good.

He showed some flashes of his very good passing technique, and I actually get what Pep is trying to do. Imagine, when we have Xaviesta + Busquets + 2 very good ball-playing CB (Pique+Chyggy), we will be the ultimate ball-hogging team ever biggrin.gif biggrin.gif 75% ball possession will be very possible tongue.gif tongue.gif

I would like to watch replay of the match. Looking at how much he has improved smile.gif

Added on April 5, 2010, 3:07 pmA quote from a blogger about the Arsenal game last week:

Hours removed from the game and i have a minor guilty pleasure about the last 30 minutes. We’ve seen a perfect 60 minutes, i suppose now it’s time to work for the perfect 90 minutes. Perhaps someday Josep will discover it but today was not it, which is good for had it been the perfect 90 i’m not sure there would be a point in watching another match ever again.

Hoping another good performance by the players rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
