QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 29 2009, 07:58 AM) Not only same brand, but same model series as well. Timbre matching for the front LCR is very important. Will that make a big difference? I bought the FCC2 (4ohm) as my center speaker after many rounds of audition and found that it's the best for me which suited my budget but then if i were to get the front LR speakers with the same model All my LCR will be 4 ohm speakers which i think my avr will have to work very hard drive them As I'm currently still hunting for front LR speakers shd I just go for 8/6 ohm speakers?

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 29 2009, 11:42 AM) Yes, 4 ohm is harder to drive, I think Onkyo 875 can drive all channel at 4 ohm. Not sure, have to read the manual again but there is a option for 4 ohm speakers. Each model will have specific materials, technology, design etc. This gives them the sonic characteristics, which makes it sound differently especially with different brands. Heck, I even have matching cables for my front LCR. But I guess, as with all things audiophile, it's just you to decide in the end. If you hear that all the speakers blend nicely together, then by all means let it be. All these things are just tips and guides, not a rule. thanks for ur info, bro i think just let my ear to decide anyhow 4ohm LR speakers are not cheap though

QUOTE(jchong @ Jul 30 2009, 03:23 PM) Actually the most ideal situation is using the exact same speaker for LCR, e.g. all floorstanders/bookshelves same model. However, this poses difficulty for the center because the floorstander/bookshelf speaker would obstruct the TV.
So that's why they came up with a compromise design, horizontal center speaker. Easier to fit either below or above the TV.
So the 2nd best situation is LCR from same brand and series. In theory this should yield the best matching. However, like you I have the FCC2 and used it with the PSB T55. To my ears they blended quite well. There was no obvious mismatch. So in the end you have to judge with your own ears.
I suppose you're planning to upgrade LR next? What are u using now?
now using pariah LR speakers yup, next upgrade will be LR speakers FCC2's same family of LR speakers are definitely out coz out of budget and also have no confidence on my avr to drive them now eyeing Dali Ikon 6 the only concern is whether it can blend well with FCC2
