ok ive posted this in the interasia subforum but i just wanna post it again here... fan club ma tongue.gif

im just so happy with it that i wanna show off MUAHAHAHAHAHA tongue.gif

nolah........actually i just wanted to share... i recently setup a HTPC about 2 weeks ago. heres the specs.

AMD Sempron64 2500+
Asus K8N-E Deluxe
Advanced Module 512mb DDR400 x1
Maxtor 40GB PATA HDD
MSI FX5200 GC
Samsung DVD Rom & Samsung CDRW
Powerlogic 500w PSU
Cheapo RM38 Wireless Mini KB & Mouse
Linksys Wireless USB Adapter
Edifer R501 MK-II connected to on-board audio
(yeah yeah i know...but trust me...this mobo has excellent on board audio when paired with the r501)
Panasonic 21" TV (Waiting for cash for a 29" or mebbe even a 34")
Some brandless 4 or 5 year old beige ATX Casing

this would be my 2nd unit for the r501. 1st one is still working excellently on my main rig.

anyway.. the HTPC is awesome man.... i have to say the speakers are excellent. they work well with my setup. watching movies is so so nice. so those of u who are planning to setup a cheapo home theatre i would definitely recommend the r501. best bang for buck IMHO.

i know i could get bettter sound with a better sound card... but trust me... this is good enough. no intentions of any upgrades... i even UV-fied the rig (pics can be seen HERE) yeah yeah...i was on 3 weeks leave and had nuttin better to do tongue.gif

but of course... watching downloaded movies will vary depending on the encoding... some will have low volume some are alright. but its still a pleasure to just lie in bed n hear gunshots right behind your head biggrin.gif

loving it so much right now. muahahhaha

i dont know what ur workspace is like, but as for me all my 5 sats are on my table too... i even bought an L-shaped table just because i wanted to spread the sats out nicely. my space is kinda tight so it didnt really go as planned.... but it was seriously good enough due to the L-shape. actually worked out better than i expected. managed to save some space AND spread the sats out to give me a surround sound feel. and the subwoofer is a wonderful footstool biggrin.gif

I had posted it here before... neway, this is how it look like:

That is the snapshot of my workstation WITHOUT the speakers yet... tonite I'll try to snap some and then post it here... how currently all 5 sats. sitting on my desk pointing at me sweat.gif...

If I placed my sub on the lower right of my desk *below my mouse*, would it be ok with my cpu? unsure.gif.. coz the other end, I couldn't fit my sub in due to the height sweat.gif (how really I wish if I could put my sub there sad.gif)...

Proper work only can be done on Sat and Sun as I'm busy on weekdays sad.gif

Regarding the burn-in software ah that I had downloaded from the link given.. izzit the +6dB mean setting the vol. set to '6' in da sub-woofer using da remote? Then let it run for 3 hours? How about software's vol. then? Need to put it max? unsure.gif

There's a tips given to face the speakers face by face... what's for? I had only run for 2 hours so far... can run extra than the recommended 3 hours? Afraid if I might 'spoil' my newly bought babes sweat.gif

Anyway, izzit everytime after off the main power of the speakers, the vol. will revert back to default '8'? unsure.gif.. If yes then I better stick to my software vol. panel controller.. then no need to adjust everytime I turn off and on the speakers tongue.gif

Yeap... I tried some DVD movies yesterday and the sound really brows.gif.. Haven't really can blast them as my workstation just beside da living room.. will disturb them sweat.gif.. only can do so on Sat and Sun tongue.gif

Btw, gotta wait till this Sat and Sun before I can really re-arrange them into my workstation shakehead.gif

since u got no place to put the sub....then i suggest rearranging ur table and urdrawer where u put ur case on. shift it to the left next to ur table's drawers. at least then itll be safer for ur hdd and also when u open the door of your case its easier for u to xs the drives (this is why i HATE case with doors...theyre so directional).

n regarding the burn in.... i just used the original settings with my 1st set on my main rig. the 2nd set on my HTPC i havent done anything...

Ok.. as promised.. ta~da.. see my messy workstation now

Erm.. as for what the 'white thingy' serve at the sub-woofer there.. I got my own reason, but that wouldn't degrade any of the performance, rite? biggrin.gif

Shift the drawers with my rig on to the left ah... It's better to be placed in such way now... shifting it might cause some problem sweat.gif... the door case doesn't matter to me wink.gif.. Anyway in such placement, would da sub-woofer effect my rig? Since there's a piece of 'wood' (the table) in between them also... unsure.gif

well....forumers are saying that the sub should be more than 2 feet away from ur hdd... otherwise ur hdd will end up like john lennon....dead

hence the reason i suggested to move ur rig to the left of the table and leave ur sub on the right.
