your song in the playlist out of no where corrupted ?
Due to slow Class 2 memory card. How to check? Take out microsd, look for the number inside a circle (actually a "C"). 2 the slowest, 6 the fastest.♥♪,Nokia 5800 XpressMusic a.k.a "TUBE" V17 ♥♪, V30 firmware through FOTA!!!

Someone from Symbian-Freak noticed this. So, it's highly possible to change clock speed of the cpu since initially it's underclocked.
QUOTE CPU Count Single CPU CPU Type ARM 11 CPU Clock Rate 434[2] MHz 2 From device sw version 20.0.012 onwards. Update your device using Nokia Software Updater. ![]() |

QUOTE(RuFusS @ Aug 5 2009, 11:02 PM) No, it's free from Nokia, via firmware updates. I think my previous V21 already running fullspeed, that's why doesnt notice major improvement when using V30.QUOTE(aloy88 @ Aug 5 2009, 11:03 PM) mine is class 2, i knew this problem , however can we change the memory card ? Most, if not all suffered, the problems. If u maximize the capacity usage, problems more prone to occur. Nokia normally will swapped it to PNY Class 4 card for u.last time i bring to the NCC, they format the card and the problem still occur once in a blue moon .. even tho i hard reset and soft reset. why ah ? not all people of class 2 suffer the same fate wo .. only a certain right ? |

QUOTE(RuFusS @ Aug 5 2009, 11:14 PM) I see.. thanks for the reply.. So do we suffer from overheating and battery probs too with this firmware update? does anybody have any experience? So far no reported overheating (if compared to iPhone with OS3 QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Aug 5 2009, 11:15 PM) so nokia will swap class 2 mem card for class 4 ones...i need to make a trip to NCC soon I bought my Zitron 5800 from Sarawak and the seller helped me ship the crappy C2 microsd back to Hello for a PNY C4 card |

When u try to exchange the card, inform them that u have done these things:
1. Format the card on phone, still RANDOM corruptions and missing files. 2. Format via pc but problem still persist. 3. Go online and found out 5800 has problem with most Class 2 microsd. Ask them whether it's easier to swap the card or replace the tube. |

Originally shipped with 369Mhz but reported to run at full speed of 434Mhz since v20 firmware.

Afaik, no software can detect realtime speed of symbian phone speed yet. Most of them are programmed to show rated speed of the phone.

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Aug 6 2009, 04:31 PM) my card is class 6 too.. and i still expericing random file corrupt... is reformating the card from phone restore back the original file structure as a new one or does it just make it blank like a PC formating ur sd card? Nope, just like normal format but reset the cluster size back to default in case u changed it. Try to format the card using Panasonic SD format tool. |

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Aug 6 2009, 05:01 PM) erm... im not so techy... but wut u meant when u say reset back the cluster size? "The FAT file system used by DOS and Windows divides all of the file data on the hard disk into clusters comprised of multiple sectors. A cluster is normally between 2 kiB and 32 kiB in size, in powers of two, containing between 4 and 64 sectors of user data. This is done to make managing the location of data easier. "All the files inside are not required by the phone to operate rite? Say if i wan to resintall a program in the sd card which is totall empty n newly formated. The phone will just recreate all the necessary files n folders? But ignore it if u never changed it before. When u reformat the card, it will be totally blank. Once u insert the card into the phone, all the necessary folders will be created (Backup, Music, Pictures, System, etc) |

QUOTE(hellwaker @ Aug 7 2009, 08:52 AM) My red tube benchmark result, I do not know why it was down clocked to 387Mhz. Some question... It's not downclocked, but resources used by background apps. Kill all background/hidden apps and rerun the benchmark. Should yield u around 400Mhz.- It is safe to clocked it back up to 432MHz? - How to OC? [attachmentid=1123372] U cant clock it back at your will, this is programmed within firmware. Only fools will tell u otherwise. Forget bout OC, 434Mhz is the rated limit of this ARM11 cpu. Regarding the OC via txt file, bloody hoax! It's from N-gage installation folder. Worst, it's not even among the bootup files. If someone can manage a way to change the clockspeed, the viable way will be via Rompatcher. |

QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Aug 7 2009, 10:29 AM) hi, to all 5800 users.... is 5800's touch screen not so sensitive?? i mean, will it be hard for us to type sms etc ?? Imo, very responsive even when compared to Omnia (WinMo, resistive) and iPhone/Touch (OS2, OS3, capacitive). Only hate the soft surface of the screen... feel fragile |

QUOTE(hellwaker @ Aug 7 2009, 10:45 AM) Let say u open a game and put it to background. Does it waste cpu cycle or just RAM? Both actually. No matter what apps running in background, it still waste cpu cycle. That's why running multiple apps n background shorten battery life too. Some apps are very optimized (mostly part of the system tasks) but they still suck up previous cpu cycle. Bluetooth, alarm, wifi, voice dial, etc |

QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Aug 7 2009, 11:43 AM) i been using ipod Touch all this while until it became brick now... i was planning to get a gadget that has wifi+gps+music... i m eyeing tis 1... but when i tried it personally, i feel lik the touch screen is not as sensitive as my ipod Touch... so, i would lik to kno becoz itz a demo set and damaged by the customer or the set is lik tat... I thought it can unbrick using some software?Probably i'm too get used to resistive screen and feel weird when using those capacitive screen. But when i tried N97, i do feel it's better than 5800 in term of sensitiveness. U might want to try 5800 with V30 firmware. P.S: I prefer capacitive screen due to non "squishy" touch surface... |

Easy method:
1. Download GarminMobileXT_5_00_60_S60_TW.exe file. 2. Extract all the content to microsd root folder, overwrite everything. 3. Use file manager on your phone, install the new garmin sisx file. Done. All POI, My Locations, basemaps, maps, vehicles, voices, etc will keep intact. This post has been edited by toughnut: Aug 24 2009, 02:16 PM |
