You can try my ex-schoolmate, Dr Chang Chew Ming in Pantai Bangsar. Usually has a clinic in the morning and operates afternoons. He was also attached to Assunta on certain days, but I am not sure of his schedule now. Dr Tan Lye Suan, lady doctor, on the second floor of the same medical center is also not bad. |

QUOTE(cmnlph @ Apr 4 2012, 04:28 PM) I just visited Dr Chang this afternoon in Pantai Bangsar. Made a phone call to check and made sure he was in before I went over. Good to know you visited Dr Chang. He is a good listener and very good patience. Total bill was RM180 for consultation + meds. I hope his treatment will improve your condition soon. I noticed you stay/work at Solaris. I work in Sri Hartamas. |

QUOTE(moonkar @ Apr 23 2013, 12:06 PM) I brought my wife to see Dr Khor at Jalan Pudu, last Friday. It was quite expensive as well. I paid lesser at Sunway Medical Center with branded medication. The so-called "sinus" trouble that most people talk about actually falls into Dr Khor gave my wife some unknown drops and some cream in his own packaging. No idea what medication he gave to my pregnant wife. He did a normal scope into her nose as well and got lectured for about 15 minutes. All these comes to RM 218! Upon registration, the receptionist asked which Chinese ancestry my wife belongs to and what is she working as. I felt weird at the beginning as I wondered why they needed such details. I don't quite like the receptionist attitude. Reminds me of some fierce teachers in those government school. Actually Dr Khor as well. He shows some kind of impatiences when you ask him more questions. During examination, he insisted that my wife's problem is with what she is doing, which is online clothes reseller (At this time I realised why he wants to record what my wife's job is). He said that all new cloths contains allergens that is triggering her sinus problem. I'm not really sure if this is the case or not as she is not stocking a lot of the clothes at home and only once a week she will be handling the clothes and furthermore, she handles less than 10 pieces of the clothes. Hmm, if really this is the cause, she can't be walking into shopping mall already. I still feel sceptical on his claims but he is not a person that you could really voice your opinion to, so I just agree to what he say and hopefully his treatment works. He has also suggested us to open all the windows in the house for good ventilation, which he has a point and I'm doing it. 4 days now, my wife is still experiencing the same thing daily. My wife is asked to use the treatment he gave till the next appointment which is about 1.1/2 weeks more to go. Not sure whether to go back or not. Since he said that it is due to some allergens and as it is happening to her around the same time each day, I recommended my wife to use the netti pot on a strict schedule, i.e before the time, she is expected to have headache which is once at 1pm and 6pm. This idea just came up today, hope this works. My reasoning is to clean up the allergens that is irritating her sinus before it gets too irritated till it hits her head. On the other hand just to share, previously I noticed that I've been over humidifying my room. I read that ideally, the room humidity should about around 40-60%. Anything above 60%, allows dust mites to thrive. Previously my Sharp filter that has a build-in humidifier, has brought my room humidity level up to 80%. I quit using it as Dr Khor also said that it is bad. Now my room is about 55 plus minus. ![]() This one is given by Dr Khor @ Jalan Pudu ![]() These are given by Dr. Gan @ Sunway Medical ![]() This is nasal wash bought @ Jalan Raja Laut three basic types : 1. Sinusitis, typically infections of the frontal and maxillary sinus cavities 2. Allergic rhinitis, which causes inflamed turbinates and nasal polyps 3. Nonallergic rhinitis, of which the main one is vasomotor rhinitis, and also causes inflamed turbinates, usually the inferior one. The surgery which they do to remove the inflamed turbinates is called a turbinectomy. http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-boar...pic.php?t=27714 http://www.localhealth.com/article/vasomotor-rhinitis http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/001648.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinitis http://www.entusa.com/nose_photos.htm The description you gave of your wife's symptoms - headache, sinus pain, appears to be an infection of the maxillary or frontal sinuses. The drops and spray that Dr Gan gave you appear to be more for allergic or vasomotor rhinitis : Afrin, oxymetazoline drops, a vasoconstricor Rhinocort, budesonide spray You can get both at any pharmacy. Afrin has been around for the past 40 years. Budesonide is a first generation steroid. You could actually get one of the second generation steroid sprays from any pharmacy : Mometasone (Nasonex) Fluticasone (Flonase) Ciclesonide (Omnaris) Ciclesonide, from the same company which developed budesonide, Astra, is the best, with minimal systemic absorption. The same steroid is used as an inhaler in asthma, Alvesco. http://www.omnaris.com/ http://www.pharmafile.com/news/smarter-ste...sco-launched-uk However, it is not advisable to use any steroid nasal spray for longer than a month or two at a time. You could try my schoolmate, Dr Chang Chew Ming, an ENT in Pantai Bangsar. This post has been edited by Tham: May 1 2013, 05:04 AM |

QUOTE(eby5arz @ Jan 11 2014, 01:15 PM) Hello everyone, That amounts to almost as much as a coronary bypass these days.I just want to share my experience with my favorite ENTs. His name is Dr Hj Md Husain Said. And yes if you look up in medeguide.com his name will come out first on the list. Since he works solely in SJMC the fees would be very expensive, but it's really worth a shot. He's very friendly and gives me a lot of explanation about my health conditions. I had tonsillectomy, turbinate reduction and balloon maxillary sinuplasty and septoplasty on 2012. I was charged MYR27,384.03. I also found that early this year that I had a severe right sphenoidal sinusitis. Again, he has assured me that he has been performing numerous balloon sphenoidal sinuplasty. I'll be having my second surgery this 30th of Jan. It will be going to cost me around 20k. But I don't mind because he's Dr Md Husain. |

QUOTE(feeho @ Dec 10 2018, 07:11 AM) Chang Chew Ming is my former schoolmate. He is quite alright and I had been seeing him for many years, from the time when he had a clinic in SS2 , sharing the premises with the famous dermatologist, also Dr Chang. However, when he moved into Pantai permanently, his cranky sister, Wai Kee, who runs the counter, has stopped allowing me to see him for unknown reasons, telling me to go see Tan Lye Suan instead. I have yet to complain to Pantai about this. This post has been edited by Tham: Dec 13 2018, 12:53 AM |
