wanna ask...

1) anyone here using this player already?

2) no distributor in KL/Malaysia?

3) what is actually the max HDD size it can take? seems like getting mixed info - 2TB & 1.5TB from its own website

to all new playon!HD owners...may i ask if you can comment on the build quality of the free HDMI cable that comes with the player...is it decent? i mean, is it necessary to buy another cable or the free one good enough?

Very rushed firmware. Not properly tested.
*
agreed! they've came up with so many firmware updates over the recent weeks...it seems every week or so there's a new firmware...other media players oso like this?

cant they like bundled everything in one go?

and still not release the DTS downmix firmware...

to playon!hd owners..got a question...the player is supposed to be laid on surface, the hdd is also located at the bottom...altho there's small grille at the bottom if u lay the player flat on its bottom...means no or very limited ventilation for the hdd?

Anyone place this player on stands or support? Or anyone facing heat issue?

I just bot this player from s'pore over the raya weekend SG$229 after discount..havent got time to hook up anything yet...havent even tried playing any files...was just going thru the unit & notice the hdd mounting place

anyone care to comment?

ha, managed to solve it... close case
*
so what exactly was the problem? Mind to breakdown the solutions?it may be useful for others in future if they face same problem

i just got my chance to test out my POHD very impressive with it...was using WDTV earlier & i feel its well worth the upgrade...

Loading time on my 1TB hdd was so much faster altho with the WDTV i was using ext hdd..i think not fair to compare but being able to store hdd internally is one huge advantage on the POHD

the HDMI cable tat came with the package is a lot 'smaller' in cable size compare to Monster M1000HD..havent tried swaping & try so dunno if it'll make any difference

re the heat issue i was worried about earlier...suprisingly its a lot hotter on the top of the casing than the bottom..guess its well constructed to pass heat thru the body of the unit rather than heat concentrating at bottom where the hdd is mounted...guess no need to elevate it smile.gif

overall extremely happy with it!

just wondering is this product able to do this ..

HDMI > video only ( to tv)

Red and white composite > to Amplifier

Can this thing  work like this parallel?

Note : this amp is a shit amp .
*
i think u can component video out to TV & composite audio out to Amp no? or coaxial/optical audio out...no need HDMI

just curious, how shitty is the amp?

so elite chew...if we're allowed back into thr POHD topic, what u feel is wrong with the POHD?i think many ppl would love to know..

Have anyone tried playing m2ts files with the POHD?how's the PQ/AQ? a frend told me m2ts quality is like 90% of bd iso is tat true?i will only get my hands on some m2ts files next week

if m2ts is just as good as bd iso then no need bd iso also saatisfactory marr right?

nicely said smile.gif

QUOTE(chewkl @ Sep 29 2009, 09:55 PM)
M2TS is 100% of BD PQ & AQ lah...nothing more, nothing less. Anyways M2TS plays perfectly on the PoHD so if U just want to watch the main movie and don't give a hoot about the extras, the PoHD will suit U fine. If U want to have the HD audio as well then U need to wait till Oct for ver. 2 of the firmware.

Well, honestly there is a lot to pick on the PoHD if U want to be really picky. But if U just want to watch movie, it's a fine device.
*
not bothered with extras but hd audio is important...will patiently wait for Oct firmware

thanks!

yea kinda sucks but i bot knowing it'll be available in lowyat soon but i hv no regrets really...i feel there's little chnace for the player to kong & at the same time de shop i bot from only give 1 week warranty (1 to 1 replacement)

after tat i'm suppose to send straight to its distributor..hv no idea who the distributor is..

Also even if bot locally & sumthing wrong with the unit..the local pc store also wknt be able to fix..they'll probably take ur unit & send to whoever wherever...no difference with me sending the unit in myself...i travel to s'pore roughly once every 2 months

But keeping my fingers X nothing goes wrong

btw those who bot POHD locally in lowyat, does the unit comes with warranty card?mine doesn't hv warranty card..i only realize it after back to kl
