Dunno. I will try to do without the 500Gb HDD as I'd prefer to go for at least 1TB thumbup.gif

QUOTE(summer4128 @ Nov 1 2009, 06:49 PM)
My opinion, try to avoid built-in type NAS. Reason:
1. If unit faulty, u will not know is hard disk or the NAS.
2. If claim for warranty, u have to send whole unit just becasue of 1 hard disk fail?
3. Don't forget, their RMA dept can retrieve the faulty data, your privacy or important data in danger.
4. We do not know what brand or model use inside the NAS. May be special model just for them. We can't find in the market, then u will got biiiiigggg problem because NAS recommend same brand same model for the all hard disks.

So, how? cool2.gif
*
Dude, does this look like a built-in NAS?

yeah better go 1 or 1.5TB.. 500 is such a waste for one useful bay, for this kind of application..

I totally agree. Next weekend, I will venture down to lowyat and see if I can get the 500GB "upgraded" with a top up brows.gif

At RM999, its gotta be one of the best price around for a 4-bay NAS currently rclxms.gif Got BT support some more thumbup.gif

i saw external bufalo 1tb selling 330 but using USB port...i wonder if this usable with POHD.......
*
This would be very much like the WD series of external HDDs eg. Home studio etc. But do note that its a single bay and not user serviceable i.e. HDD kaput, kenot change the HDD. Since it has USB connectivity, sure can use with POHD and other media players whch have USB ports

Bro, since you mentioned hdd dock, may I ask you a question? how come my computer fail to detect my hdd when I plug in the hdd dock with hdd inside through either usb or eSATA? anyone know how to solve this problem? icon_question.gif
*
I think bro ar will be the better man to explain. He is more technical than me since he is always "near the engine" for being an engineer whistling.gif

But what OS are you using? Is your hdd dock powered or draws power from mobo's USB port?

I'm using XP, I'm sure the hdd dock is powered

what do you means by "draws power from mobo's USB port"
*
hdd dock being powered means it is powered by its own AC adaptor as opposed to the dock functioning from drawing power from your MOtherBOard's USB port. Do note that XP's USB port power management sux

or as what bro azbro said

You can buy a Buffalo Linkstation for RM999 at Lowyat. It is a 4-bay SATA NAS and the price includes a 500GB HDD. This leaves you with 3 other bays to fill up later
