Actually WDTV cover art is not very well implemented. The picture size is too small ad the navigation too slow.

I am using the WDTV Live for 1 week now and so far so good...play all the medias without any problem and stream from PC smoothly too. I might want to buy another media player so still considering the Ryan which have rmvb support(good to have for my wife).

AC Ryan has been out for a few months now and so far what is the plus and minuses after the latest firmware update?

Lightning69, can you get to buy Ac Ryan in Miri or any particular shop in Kuching maybe?? If yes, what price are they selling?

hmm i dont have avi in my collection but i have plenty mkv and few wmv so far can play smoothly....

only watch like 10% of what i got... blush.gif

dunno how and when to finish watching all....  rclxm9.gif

I think AC Ryan is a very good media player, but I avoided it because some people say it still lag playing some difficult mkv and it still cannot play files with reframe rate higer than 4 reframe...i think. So far I think WDTV Live is the only cheapo player that can play all smoothly.

Ooooo I've been hoping for this!
I can't stand the UI for POHD but it's the most tolerable one apart from WDTV.
Unfortunately, WDTV stutters with certain files...or so I've read.

Hopefully the YAMJ firmware won't mess up the functions...AC Ryan has a knack for doing that sad.gif

try WDTV Live ... it plays everything buttery smooth....

I heard some member mention that white color like clouds etc are not handled so well by the WDTV live...a bit blocky..do you experience it?
*
Never notice any problem with blocky white. It must have been the poorly encoded mkv. For me the PQ is awesome as it can be.

no point also, since it can't do DTS-MA... so it's half baked for HD audio solution...
*
Just out of curiosity, is both Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio available on all Bluray movies(or at least all new movies)? Is the there any difference in sound quality between the 2? If not, then just having one like Dolby TrueHD would be enough too right?

should be fine with either one. But cant really choose truehd with every movie. Depends on the bd movie.

But is it true that most newer movies have both Dolby and DTS? I guess all will have Dolby TrueHD while some might also have DTS like those dvd.

can you guys list the pros and cons of playon vs wd tv live?
*
I have the WDTV Live and like it a lot. My cousin have the POHD adn I was trying it out last week. The POHD looks very solid and have a very complete remote control. The WDTV Live Control is too minimal. However I don't quite like the picture quality of the POHD. I find it soft.
