QUOTE(lung @ Jul 24 2009, 09:55 AM) On ultimate guitar website there are also these files in the form of .ptb. These are power tab files. http://www.power-tab.netIf you're not sure whether what you play is really what the tab is telling you, download that software (freeware) and open the .ptb file and play it. The software will play it using midi. I like to use Guitar Pro 5.2 You can download guitar pro files in GP5 formats. It's not only for guitar learning, but you can get scores as well, and so far, the files that i downloaded... i would say 85% of it are accurate from drums to keyboards (of course, guitars included) , may not be perfect as most of the files are user submitted. But you will get the idea on how to play it. Not only that, if you find something is slightly not right, you can edit the tabs/notes or write your own songs with it. And it supports soundfonts too.

I don't think we can. Not without getting a warning. Try Googling it . I still prefer normal tabs but I use PowerTab to get my timing down.

Even 4 stars, there are some parts which are wrong... but close enough. It's also great for improvisation practices and stuff, i mean you can see different genres there... from Jazz - Metal It's a useful tool to "tangkap" certain songs... especially those complicated jazz chords which are very hard to catch by ear when all the music is going on..... the 13s , 11s and such.... Added on July 28, 2009, 10:52 ambtw, i write my songs using this thing... This post has been edited by aaron5829: Jul 28 2009, 10:52 AM

Haha.. check your PM. As for song writing... sometimes, i just sit with my guitar and messing with some chord progressions, from there, an idea can suddenly pop out in my head... and i will immediately write down, kick marks, and stuff, then finally do it in the software, to have a listen on how the end product will sound like. Then will start distributing to my band members, and get them to listen and find out wether they like it or not. If they do, then everyone else will go learn their parts, and finally make a studio practice. Of course it doesnt always turn out exactly like in the midi, cos we will add attack parts and stuff.... All those minor things, to juice up the song a bit. But this thread is not about writing songs... i know. This post has been edited by aaron5829: Jul 29 2009, 11:41 AM
