I am wanting to buy a 5.1 channel speakers for my gaming consoles. I have narrowed down my options to those two speakers. Can anyone with experience tell me which is better? i read the logitech thread in audiophiles that said there are many problems with Z5500. Is Sony DDW3000 HTiB better? The price is almost the same which is why I consider them. Are there any other better speakers in their price range? Can anyone recommend me? Thanks.
BTW, I feel that all Xbox 360 and PS3 games are in 5.1 channel so I do not need 7.1 speakers. Does FFXIII and God of War 3 uses LPCM 7.1? If that is so, I guess I have to settle with downgraded sound in 5.1 channel.

DDW3000 can't even support HD Audio, if you okay with optical/coaxial just go for it. It's still can support DTS/Dolby Digital for DVD or BD anyway if you're okay with it or else don't buy either one of them.

Go for z-5500. I have one and it was really really loud. The bass kills the Sony anytime. But at 1.5k it's a bit expensive for some.

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Jul 20 2009, 10:26 AM) game doesnt support HD Audio for the moment. so no need go for HD Audio yet That's the reason why I don't consider those expensive HT sets with Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD decoder yet. Besides, i don't have the cash. Budget is around rm1500. QUOTE(kianwee @ Jul 20 2009, 10:30 AM) Go for z-5500. I have one and it was really really loud. The bass kills the Sony anytime. Is the sound quality better than a HTiB? I don't need heavy bass and too loud sounds. Have you done comparison with the DDW3000?

Whats the use of best sound quality speaker when you are using it to play games (no offense...I'm enjoy gaming too)...and do you turn the volume up to max level?...I dun think so..
So for me to get the best atmosphere, I'll get the speaker system which has a killer bass. Mids and high for both should just as good with minor tweaking.

agree with azbro.
your main focus is to create a good environment for gaming with dynamic sound. you will not focus on sound quality when u r playing games.

QUOTE(Reix @ Jul 20 2009, 05:28 PM) "best sound quality" does not come cheap. I want the best quality possible for RM1500. I know there are better HT going as high as 6 digits price. QUOTE(BOTAK_WAI @ Jul 20 2009, 06:15 PM) agree with azbro. your main focus is to create a good environment for gaming with dynamic sound. you will not focus on sound quality when u r playing games. So what HTiB you recommend for the price range of RM1500? was looking as Yamaha YAS 71. but not sure about the price. and does a front projection speaker create better environment with dynamic sound compared to 5.1 speakers? Is Yamaha YHT 175 good? how much is it? i think the spec is good enough for me. Where can i audition it? does harvey norman pavilion have it? I never heard the Sony DDW3000 before I but I used to own an RM1500 Sony HTIB, an RM2000+ Panasonic HTIB and the Logitech Z5500. The Logitech is the best sounding among those three for games and movies
