I was the one who deleted all your threads.

For those of you claiming there was no warning, there was an announcement placed at the top of this forum yesterday.

The reason the majority of your threads received the axe today was because we have found that there are quite a majority of you who have decided to bundle "Free Gifts" with your console sets. Now, normally we wouldn't think twice about this but this was immediately after we started removing threads that offered "Free Games"...

Put two and two together...

Why are we doing this? Simple:
We believe that in the majority of cases where "free gifts/games" are provided, they are usually pirated games. As such we cannot condone that sort of behavior.
Thus, you, as a seller should be responsible to state what is it that you are providing free here so that we and potential buyers know that you are providing non-pirated goods.

This is in the interest of promoting a piracy free trading area here.

I will reinstate threads on appeal. But those of you that still maintained the usual "Free 10 x games" are out of luck.

Seriously, I've had personally deal with Nelson before and I got my PSP and PS3 from him and I've yet to encounter any dispute with him over the products he sells...
My PSP memory stick was faulty the first day when I got it from him,but he just changed it back for me without asking any further questions or doubting whether I've swapped it with a faulty one.

Just kindly ask SHOP OWNERS to remove their pirated games and free games advertisements or issue warning.
But then again.....how can shops nowadays survive without including "FREE GAMES"?????

Let's put it this way, do you think Sony Centre earns more in terms of PS3 sales and games compared to shops like Nelson's and others???
I don't think so and if they were to survive in this harsh economy, they somehow need to offer "goodies" to attract in customer.

And let's face it,seriously,honestly,do you,AS A MOD, have never ever buy pirated games before or download it off the internet?
I may never know whether you did it or not but all I can say that we do sometimes buy pirated games right?
Is not that we are not supporting genuine products but is that budget and income sometimes forces us to take the "alternative" way to enjoy the game.

So why so serious?just issue warn or pinned it up since you're a STAFF now?

The thing is, we've been "reminding" them about this fact for years now. Just like how we ban idiots who say "ahem" and think they can get away with it.

This is an online forum with a community. He is running a business. We are trying to foster a community that is pro-originals and as such, allowing sellers to sell pirated games totally goes against this.

Again, he is making a thread on this site for free, hence he has to comply by our standards. (He mentioned earlier, he'd offer to "donate" to us mods cash to leave his threads alone... Bribery eh?)

Man, if PJ were around, he'd whip your head 3 ways through Sunday for saying that.

I'm not a console gamer and even I know (Through being reminded very frequently) that there's more to modding than playing "backup games".

The thing is, with "Free games", its almost certainly pirated games (If it weren't, there'd definitely be an "ori" added to it or there'd be a tremendous price hike). If it isn't, all we're asking sellers to do is specify what are these free gifts.

With modding, its not a sure thing. There ARE actual non-piracy related reasons to console modding and we cannot punish these ppl just because there are others who are in it just for piracy.

We're not that strict to the point where the moment we suspect there's a dupe, we ban.

We usually only ban dupes if they do one of the following:
1) Engage in conversations together in the forum. Usually done to drum up false interest or feeedback. These are ban on sight.
2) Attempt to promote the same things throughout the forum independently (Also to drum up false interest but with no direct interaction with each other)

Otherwise, we usually give the benefit of the doubt to the users.

Look at what you just said. No matter how small this group are, we cannot ignore them. Plus, I'm tempted to ask for a source, because based on the number of next-gen console users in Malaysia, even a number like 50 ppl would constitute more than a percent of the total console population.

Though it may be true that a large majority of ppl who mod their consoles to play pirated games, that doesn't change the fact that there are users who have legitimate uses for it.
It would totally be unfair to punish these ppl who are using it legitimately, in very much the same way it would be unfair to ban the discussion of Bittorrent here just because the vast majority of its users use it to download illegal things.

You want us to shut down all Bittorrent discussions as well?

I just love members who assume that they are the centre of the universe in the forum... Like earlier in this thread someone suggested (Or rather demanded) that mods should PM EVERY user/offender when a new rule is made. What kind of rubbish expectation is that?

As goldfries pointed out, we're here to enforce the rules of the forum, not molly coddle offenders.

PS. We are moderating the forums as a volunteer service... Not a full-time job. Obviously the forum can't expect us to dedicate our entire lives to it. Unless you want to start paying us a salary? At the same time, we're not using it as an excuse for not handling our moderating duties... Just that don't expect us to put it at the centre of our lives.
