Team Rv.Razer does Brunei proud in Dreamhack Tournament
E-Sports has come a long way in today's gaming industry. It has also captivated and captured the attention of audiences worldwide with major sponsors supporting world events. One such event is the Dreamhack Tournament, which is listed in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest LAN and Digital Festival with attendance from over 11,200 nationals from around the globe.
Team Rv.Razer, a professional gaming team that represents Brunei in international events and one of the Sultanate's best teams, recently participated in the Dreamhack Qualifiers in Kuching from October 2 to 5 and brought home the winning title as champions.
Their victory in the event qualified and secured them a spot in the Dreamhack Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur from October 17 to 18. The champion team in the tournament would win an all-expense paid trip to Sweden to vie for the grand title against world-renowned teams.
After an intense series of matches against Malaysia's top teams, Rv played an intense final against Team LZ, the best team in Malaysia. They garnered a final score of 16-14, a close match between the two professional teams.
Team Rv claimed second place in the grand finals and once again did Brunei proud. Although they did not win an all-expense paid trip to the grand event in Jankoping, Sweden, they will still compete in the European state with the help of their sponsors. It is after all, a-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
They have also participated and emerged victorious in other events such as the World Cyber Games, GX League (Singapore), Cyber Athlete Professional League, Electronic Sports World Cup and the Brunei Cyber Games among others.
Team Rv was established in 2005 and comprises five members, all of which are working professionals and fresh graduates.
They are sponsored by Razer, one of the world's best producers in gaming peripherals, and local sponsors include C-Wave, Netcom and TTCO. They have achieved tremendous success in various events and raised the Brunei flag high during the competitions. They also hope to inspire and encourage youths to work hard to achieve their goals in life and prioritise their education above all else.
