I tried unlock my 720 4th core.. during post it shows X4 20... but after tat it won't boot to windows.. black screen only.. does it mean my 4th core is defective??
I just got a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H, in the manual and website it says Southbridge is SB710. But on CPUZ motherboard tab, its SB750. Will CPUZ have mistake??
Green = Value end, 5400rpm, 3 years warranty Black = Performance, 7200rpm, 5 years warranty, dual head or controller system Nope, they still support unlocking, i'm still able to unlock my cpu with my mobo latest bios F3.. Maybe urs is just cannot unlock batch ah.. It all boils down to luck ah..
So if I can't boot to windows, 4th core is totally defective??
160GB to 250Gb got no 32mb cache version ah, max 16mb.. Tho u won't really notice any difference between them ah.. Sooo just take any HDD 7200rpm 16mb is good enuff..

If u done all the steps:
1. Set to Hybrid mode 2. ACC set to all cores 3. Value -2%
Then most probably u have an locked batch.. Have u research 1st on the bios version that most users have been able to unlock using the same mobo??
I've seen some mobo user reviews and they r able to unlocked. I have 0906 EPMW cpu.. not sure if its locked batch...
EDIT : Found this
"It was found that 720BE's with serial 'MW' are favourites esp. 0904 EPMW, 0906 EPMW, 0904 DPMW, 0904 FPMW, 0905 FPMW, 0906 FPMW, 0904 EPMW & 0904 DPCW series has acquired highest success rates if paired with right motherboard combo."

bought it new.. not proven.. so.. probably unlockable..... But will it be like that if 4th core really defective? Just wanna make sure it's not the mobo problem......
Because by looking at it, it seems the 'stuck' is usually associated with:
-Motherboard and CPU is having a 'communication error' thus making them both keep 'talking' to each other while forgetting to boot... -USB related problem, try and cabut every USB connection possible and boot... -Try minimizing boot, for example boot only with CPU,Mobo, 1 stick ram, 1 HDD and thats about it... -Reset CMOS and then set date and ACC ONLY!!! reboot, if still blink2 like previously, try disable Legacy USB and set booting device to Boot HDD only (probably already been done ) -Use the template in my sig and post your configuration...
antonio has spoken... ok will try the steps.. thanks
OK tried all.. non work =(

What bios are u using....Any known bios for unlock?
Set the ACC to -2% for All Cores
Drop NB an HT to 1800mhz
Manually bump CPU vcore at 1.4v and CPU/NB at 1.1v
try and have a look
I think i've tried most of those.. not work... so it post x4 but stuck after tat.. is it motherboard issues?? I've updated newest bios.. should i try the old bios??
Technically speaking, if you reboot from Bios and there is no boot or the computer still is in X3 mode, then it should be your chip is locked...but now, the problem is your chip can be unlock 'X4' but cant move after POST....hmmmmmm...
#mana kitab jalan Syaitan tak terbatas aku nie....
use old window.. with old setting ( previous board driver contain on windows)??
different board, of course different result
not major change though on drivers, most components should be the same as I only change from 780 to 785, only IGP changed, but i'm not using internal graphics.
after reinstall windows .. the new board still couldn't hold 3.8ghz stable..... seems like a downgrade to me....... can't unlock 4th core, can't OC higher than b4... @#$@$%@$
