I'm a grunter. tongue.gif But only when there's absolutely nobody else around.

There's a ton of no towel guys in my gym. doh.gif All the benches are soaking wet after they've gone through with them. There was even this uncle once who came in straight from the pool, wrapped only in his towel and dripping water everwhere, swung some 10lb DBs around and walked right out leaving a trail of water behind him. sweat.gif

dont be that guy/girl (usually girl) using the weight machine like using the cardio. use puny weight and leg press for 10-15 minutes non stop. Better go jogging or stairclimber. rclxub.gif

Hey hey! he said tissue and wipe in the same sentence!

How about the dude that fiddles on his PDA/mobile phone/what have you gadget while sitting on a machine doing nothing.

Or the group of friends whom decided to do some bonding together by occupying several machines and using them as makeshift benches and yak yak yak all day without using them

and that reminds me, the 'gotong-royong dude' (i made this term up)

What happens is these group of dudes use one machine (e.g. fly machine) first dude sets it to some ridiculous weight. When i say ridiculous i mean it is obvious he cannot lift that weight. What happens is that another 2 dudes spot for him right off the bat.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a spotter is there is help in case there is a slip up, or during the routine from 1-10, you're struggling at the 9th cycle, he's there to help you finish the lap correct? So yeah, this one all gotong-royong and use the machine at the same time thinking that they're great lifting XXX weight rolleyes.gif

I see gotong royong all the time in the gym. Hah hah!

The gym owner is typically working her rows & deadlift on the bench press, tethered double squatting on the smith matchine, the hammock curl while spotting.

Hammock curls = 2 persons face-to-face, the spotter lift the weight up together with the trainee & it looks like a hammock. =P

there is a idiot in my gym doing the same as well.
taking weights he can only do half form.
looking at him doing all the exercises makes me irritated.
damn arrogant idiot...
his squat is not even half squat... he takes massive weights... but incomplete workout... all do halfway or less than half...
its just one quarter squat... =.=
told him off, he say he know he know, but he dont care...
so i dont give a damn bout him anymore...
he always take heavy weights to do, but swinging his whole body while doing it... even cable rows, he push his body front, then kick all the way back... damn idiot... try to show off but looking stupid

There's a skinny kid in my gym, now I don't have anything against skinny people in the gym, we all got to start somewhere. Hell I used to be 183cm tall and 57kg, and people called me 2 dimensional.

Anyway, the guy is a massive attention seeker. He will grunt and shout like nobody's business, as if his father owns the gym. Sometimes I'm upstairs with my ipod on and I can still here him grunting all the way from the bottom.

Today was worse, he brought a friend with him. Of course he wants to show off with friends, so he loaded the bar slightly heavier. So fcuking annoying.

The thing is, while he's all caught up in impressing people about 'how much he lifts', his physique has not changed at all for 6 months +.

Some people...........

Nah, chill man.
He was just pissed off at another person who doesn't wipe off after they use a bench.

No need to feel too personal.

Anyway, it's good habit to wipe off your sweat after you use it. It's really irritating. Don't be like China man. Dumbbells + barbells littered all over the floor... it's like doing an obstacle course just to move from 1 place to another.
If you try to talk them into being considerate, they get pissed off and talk bad about you, then never return to the gym again.

I kesian the gym lady who has to pick up and put ALL the dumbbells back to the rack every night. She probably deadlifted + farmer walked a totally of 300kg every evening.

It's just civic consciousness. Simple rule really. If you don't appreciate it if certain people do certain things, then just make sure you don't do it.

E.g. If I don't appreciate how some people throw the weights around or let the machines bang (suddenly let go) then I don't do it.

Same principle to the owner of the gym. If I don't appreciate patrons spoiling or abusing my machines, then when I use the machines, use em properly - not making the gym like some haeavy industrial metallurgy factory

Oh yeah, use a towel, seriously. Its not just for other people's benefit, its for your own good. Imagine a gym where nobody uses a towel.

Just think of all the bodily fluids being shared between the people using the equipment. Imagine all the bacteria, funguses and other happy surprises waiting to be spread.

At least if you use a towel, you can minimise contact with the equipment, and prevent your sweat from mixing with whatever's left over on the bench (thus preventing it from being 'picked up').
