hold it. but you can let go right after you finished the dash input. you release the hold slower, and shorten the time of your hold as you practice.
it will get faster.
a good way to practice ryu's dash timing, is to do a combo loop in training mode:

I don't see a difference in link timing though. I go by muscle memory.
I actually had a lot more footage of the past few days but they're not interesting.
i am still relying on my visual cues.
i cant do it with internal timing.

Nice FA use by Art and counter FAs by Alvin. But Counter FAs seems to be released a lot eventhough Art dashed back. Should have dash back/forward as well...or maybe it's just Art's "lag switch" messing up the timing.

But I see that Alvin has improved a lot. I'll probably get my arse handed to me by Alvin now. Seems like sometimes you guys use Sakura's srk for anti-air. Her srk is almost worthless as anti-air. It's just best used in combos. Her best anti air is cr.hp!
And as for Art's Sim...that's a very unorthodox Sim you're playing. But like you mentioned, you were just testing things out.

sometimes i dashed, but sakura didnt. sounds like dumb excuses. i know.
and sakura's light srk can actually do anti air, especially when you set up hadoukens for opponents to jump over. but no damage. probably can do with surprise anti air especially when enemy is out of c.hp range.

tell you what, the way you do this, there's a very high chance of a srk to come out when you release the mp button.
honestly speaking, ryu's ultra juggle is very easy to do, the timing is kinda slow, you can do the inputs one by one, no worry about it.
the only part where you need to press a little faster, is when your srk connect, and you press mp+mk. from there, you can just casually do a dash forward, and then execute the ultra.
no need to rush.
