any ideas of why some scorpions have a lot of granulations while some scorpions don't have them. what is the use of the granulations?

interesting find. if you keep 2 instar spinifer babies in a dark area for long period of time, they dont change colour as fast as those who are keep in lighted areas.

this is a continuation of my method of preserving dead scorpions.

i use ethyl alcohol. but some might have problems finding it.

the other alternative is rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. it is usually found in pharmacies.

it works just as good and the only difference is 3 atoms.

interesting. salt {sodium chloride (NaCl)} is a commonly use ingredients in preservation of meat (Egyptian mummies as an example) due to the way it adsorbs moisture from the meat.

the ginger i'm not sure how it works but if put those 2 together and some onions, garlic and cloves it sure makes a nice curing base for fish, meat and chicken.

yes ethyl is very sweet smelling. it is as rafiqos has pointed out use in perfumes.

soaking the scorpions in perfume is as close as a full ethyl bath.

a polo sport smelling O.Inessi lester?

thanks rafiqos. new info.

off topic. rafiqos you like this animal.

i was looking for signs of trapdoor but found that fellow instead. at least i got sumthing.

Added on August 18, 2009, 12:39 pmhmm what to add on to version 6.

my suggestion :

1.a list of scorpions and inverts that are protected by malaysian and international law.

2.preservation methods of dead scorpion.

just my 2cents which in the current inflation rate worth nothing.

mah internet got stung. keeps dcing for hours on end.

update on the splings.

all are well and all are eating. communal setup of 4 spling are doign gret too. notice that if in communal setup they will burrow but in solitary setup they just wander here and there.

vitalis is eating a lot. color also changing to a very dark type of brown.

wonder if he is nearing molting to 3i?

nah me just breeding them for taking pictures.

just kidding, it is more economical and make sense to breed them ourselves and considering a lot of afs splings were born in the past month it is vital to have pinheads as an alternative food source.

plus for me where there is no mealworms sold around my area and no crickets also being sold it is more vital for me to have my own breeding project.

to get these pinheads my total cost was over rm500.

how about if bury a water crystal in to the substrate?

the crystal will slowly release moisture into the substrate. the scorpion can drink from it too.
