Quitting is difficult when you have friends who will drag back into the hobby in no time rideon. You'll take the bait, hook, line and sinker without even blinking...trust me. tongue.gif

Nothing beats the beauty of a lobster than can knock you out in an instant just by swinging its tail at your trigger finger. Be honest, you love scorpions right...Lol.

Ethyl alcohol is the most commonly used alcohol in the perfume-making industry akagi.

If we have enough patience to cure a carcass in the average perfume for a couple of weeks, and let it dry in open air for another 2-3 weeks, this works as well. I've tried it with 2 of my precious-but-dead scorpions.

Also trying out another method on a stick insect - using salt diluted in water and ginger.

Ginger, garlic and cloves also keeps vampires at bay. Time to brew another secret potion. My mother will hate me for stealing things from the kitchen cabinet again. Lol!

Nice skinker there.

How humid was the substrate? Centruroides species don't take too well to very humid conditions. They seem to thrive better on the drier end, but not bone dry. This, despite drinking lots of water during the occasional misting.

how about if bury a water crystal in to the substrate?

the crystal will slowly release moisture into the substrate. the scorpion can drink from it too.

I'm working on getting some water crystals that are proven safe for invertebrates. A lot of the readily available water crystals have dodgy labels (manufactured in China adhering to probably no material safety data sheet). I'd only experiment using something I'm sure won't hurt my animals.

But that is a good idea akagi.

Discoids are roaches. So scorpion powder isn't exactly revenge.

Hihi.

Just curious why you'd say that akagi? Unlike mammals (i.e. hamsters) invertebrates are generally energy conserving animals aren't they?

Nice video andrew though I wish I could watch it at work(the firewall settings prevent us from watching any streaming media). Will give it a go once I reach home.

Some new addition. Here are my Pigmy Thicktailed Scorpions (Uroplectes olivaceus). Olivaceus for the blue-green tint.

rafiq: nice scorp.... looks like cyanosis to me tongue.gif
sam: termites... they breed 'em in overseas as feeders... bt once they escape, wont it harm to our house?
*
Cyanosis? As in mammals? Doubt its even possible FallenAngel. Moist tissue paper sticks quite well when they dry up.

QUOTE(rideon @ Sep 4 2009, 07:43 PM)
i have termites in one of the tree pots in my garden. Notice it yesterday while cooking some food outside. Can termites b feeders for scorps n T's? wont it like hurt the creature?
*
Termites are pretty risky to take in as feeders. The number one fear should always be an infestation in your dear house. Lol. I was also describing to Akagi earlier that termites feed on difficult-to-digest matter which is broken down into cellulose for energy. They've gut juices have evolved into being more acidic than the average bug just to cope with the diet. From this point onwards...you guys can make your own conclusions. It's very doubtful that they make good feeders, especially when compared to crickets or other feeders available commercially. My 2 kupang.
