QUOTE(podrunner @ Jul 19 2009, 03:57 PM) Podrunner, I heard you have purchased the DVICO 7 series...How is the Video quality compare to WDTV? Is there much improvement playing complete BD ripped movies? Surely the SQ is not comparable becoz of the lossless right? |

QUOTE(podrunner @ Jul 19 2009, 09:20 PM) Bought it mainly because I wanted to watch lossless concerts, and of course enjoy other true dolby, dts-hd master etc audio formats. I don't really see the difference in PQ, to tell you the truth. So this goes on to show that the 50 inch rule of thumb applies. Many experts believe to fully enjoy Bluray, you need to have at least 50 inch and above screen size to tell the obvious difference. I doubt we can tell much since we are both using 42" screen size......I still like my WDTV very much! |

I am one of the many satisfied users of WDTV and enjoyed MKV with great satisfaction. But one thing for sure, MKV can never match the standard set by Bluray. Even those untouched m2ts or BD ISO files are quite close to BD but still not quite there yet, maybe just 85% of the BD quality. I guess you can notice it easily on 50" above full hd big screen.......

I sometimes confused BD ISO same as complete ripped bluray....Ok, I wont make that mistake agian bro..........hehe.
But I dont agreed mkv or fully ripped m2ts files can match the PQ of Bluray no matter how we increase the bitrates. It can be close but not up to 100% yet. |

All my 720p ESiR mkv files play flawlessly without a single problem.
If you play a 1080p with ReFrame rate more than 7, your WDTV would have in trouble in playing with pixelated picture. Most of the 1080p animations have more than 7 Reframe so you will find same problem. Some 1080p movies also face the same but most of time 1080p movies should be fine. |

Beside RS, I still think if you wanna to grab Hollywood movies then Netload is the ultimate choice. Asian, Dramas are more from MU.....just my 2cents thought.

All my 720p & 1080p mkv files play flawlessly on my wdtv. I have encountered only minor problem especially 1080p animations & a couple of 1080p movies with higher ReFrame.
TO me, the only drawback is unable to support True-Audio....... Some china made rivals have made themselves felt lately. |

DTS format is so much better than AC3. Even better play DTS 96/24..... |

QUOTE(Maniac @ Sep 12 2009, 08:42 PM) So far I've only came across Perhaps Love HD MKV, that is with 96/24 DTS. Bro, if you want to get DTS 96/24, look into Asian Live concert like Tsai Chin Live in HK, Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau etc......concerts are in DTS 96/24!Clarity is clearly better than regular DTS on the same crappy AVR system I have. Not sure why so difficult to find a 96/24 sources when so manyare in DTS/MA |

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Oct 16 2009, 07:58 PM) In my opinion, I would go for ACryan because it can play rmvb. That is the biggest limitations for asian user as a lot of our chinese series are in rmvb. Not that i watch them but my wife and most women are addicted to them. Me too. Certainly rmvb compatibility is bonus feature and comes in handy when our wife likes to watch asian drama series. . |

IF this thing can bitstream DTS-MA, I will SURELY buy it to replace my old reliable WDTV 1. So far, only can pass thru Dolby Tru-Audio huh? How come? Isnt it is using HDMI 1.3 port ?

QUOTE(ar188 @ Oct 18 2009, 11:45 AM) I do not think is licensing issue. How come it still supports the Company's core format, DTS huh? Can future firmware to rectify this as I think now hardware of 1.3 is more than enuf............... ar188 what is your projection of the DTS-MA is future? This is my main concern rather than crappy networking. |

Hello, can someone confirms wdtv live supports DTS-MA passthrough??
It seems Dvico 6500a is using old slow Sigma 8635 (300mhz) chipset as compare to wdtv live newer & faster 8655 (500mhz). Thats mean this thing can performs better or if not, on par with the dvico 6500a. It can also pass through the main 2 True-audios and play higher reframes/bitrate 1080o mkv flawlessly except BD ISO. I think the only thing can make dvico stands out is the ISO menu and its LCD box bigger but priced notoriously high. Is that worth to invest in dvico now? |
