QUOTE(cougar richard @ Oct 27 2009, 09:08 AM) is WDTV Live support Dolby True HD, DTS-HD MA passthrough via HDMI 1.3? I dunno, but I tot 1-2pages back many people say no problems playing 1080p files with WDTV , even large 13-49.9GB files???or it can decode them to LPCM? lastly, any issue when playing back 1080P mkv file? coz tested my fren's 1st gen WDTV, when playing back 1080P mkv file, the audio discontinue every few second causing movie not enjoyable. the audio signal should be 1.5Mbps (full bit rate) encoded in DTS |

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Oct 27 2009, 12:23 PM) So far 1080P high bitrate not much problems with WDTV 1. Streaming from PC 1080P very lag. whoa! since you mention dirt cheap, can I give it a shot? RM100 x 2 units.. sapu bersih.. I recently watch Transformer and GI Joe with 15GB file size and 15000 bit rate all very smooth. I discover one thing about lagging 1080P playback is when you turn on external sub. Turn off the external sub will solve the problem or you can merge the sub into the mkv with mkvmerge and then no more lagging issues. Anyway, I got 2 units of WDTV which I want to let go. One is new and the other is like new. Anyone interested can pm me....dirt cheap!! |

QUOTE(kianwee @ Oct 27 2009, 09:29 PM) Yeah, I tested a few problematic mkv on my WDTV1, thought A.C.Ryan can play it smoothly, mana tau same problem with WDTV1. looks like china 1073 can still perform better than acryan? and 25% cheaper.. and better built quality (black anodized brushed aluminum chassis) |

QUOTE(adamw @ Oct 28 2009, 10:58 PM) Are you sure can downmix Dolby TrueHD? What movie & format are you playing? M2TS or BDISO for the Dolby TrueHD with downmix audio? was wondering too.. anyway did the xtreamer forum confirm also can play truehd?found some user comments on the new beta firmware... It seems that TrueHD and DTS MA are not passed through via HDMI. TrueHD appears to be downmixed to 2 channel PCM and DTS core only is passed through. QUOTE(lightning69 @ Oct 30 2009, 11:15 AM) I think the the whole master audio thing is a little overrated? How many mkv out there have master audio? Mostly are DTS. why do you ask this question when the answer is zero.. it's not supported.. LOL. |

think of it this way DD and DTs are SD grade
and TrueHD and DTS-MA is HD grade audio so similarly to a video environment, if you have a nice 720p to 1080p TV would you settle for playing SD stuffs like astro and DVD only? surely you would go for HD video material if possible like Blu-rays and HD media player etc..... QUOTE(mikapoh @ Oct 31 2009, 12:02 AM) YES I agreed that there is marginal improvement in overall sound when you play HD Audio compare to core audio. But then again, like many have said it is not a night & day difference. Much also depends on your equipments to see how far is the 'gap' between the duo. if that's the case then stick to mp3 sounding dolby digital should be fine..So thinking of core audio as SD and TrueHD as HD grade is quite not right in a non-audiophiles book. A layman can easily spot a differential in SD & HD video but sound wise is pretty hard or maybe a little to them to tell. But then to us who has the hd support equipment, eventhough it is marginal we can consider it as 'material' difference. Can you imagine we can push the overall theatre sound to another level? this kind of remarks do injustice to people who buy svs and other decent audio equipment, so they should just all settle for HTiB setup.. since not much difference to be heard... |

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Oct 31 2009, 12:16 PM) Hey bro, I did say for those who have HD support equipment, the improvement can be 'MATERIAL" even though non-audiophiles hear as marginal. P/S read carefully before simply making remarks! come on.. it's widely accepted DTS/DD = SD, anything higher like DTS-MA and TrueHD is HD sound.. what so prejudice about that?Talking about prejudice equity rights? It can also be said INJUSTICE to ppl who are not so lucky or not so crazy to folk out $ to own 'decent equipment' to say that listening to core audio or basic audio for that matter is like an SD kind of stuff....... just because people can't own equipment for HD sound means it's cannot say HD or SD?? argue on technical points la like sampling 44.1KHz 16bit vs 96/khz/24Hz.. or bitrates, 448kbps DD 5.1 vs 6000kbps LPCM etc.. not about whether you can afford it or not... as for your 1st paragraph point... since you are so "righteous" so why do you speak on behalf of others (i.e. non audiophile) whether they can hear the difference or not SD or HD sound? you assume they (the non-audiophiles) can't? or it's just barely marginal difference? why make such assumption?
