lastly, any issue when playing back 1080P mkv file? coz tested my fren's 1st gen WDTV, when playing back 1080P mkv file, the audio discontinue every few second causing movie not enjoyable. the audio signal should be 1.5Mbps (full bit rate) encoded in DTS

I dunno, but I tot 1-2pages back many people say no problems playing 1080p files with WDTV , even large 13-49.9GB files???

Ac ryan also cannot play properly ar MKV?

yesterday I was testing one fella\s 1073.. can playback all the BD-ISO.. only trueHD cannot decode.. DTS-MA no problem can decode to 2.0 stereo .. (bitstream for both HD tracks not sure.. cos the fella didn't hookup to HD AV amp)

was wondering too.. anyway did the xtreamer forum confirm also can play truehd?
found some user comments on the new beta firmware...

It seems that TrueHD and DTS MA are not passed through via HDMI. TrueHD appears to be downmixed to 2 channel PCM and DTS core only is passed through.

think of it this way DD and DTs are SD grade
and TrueHD and DTS-MA is HD grade audio


so similarly to a video environment, if you have a nice 720p to 1080p TV would you settle for playing SD stuffs like astro and DVD only? surely you would go for HD video material if possible like Blu-rays and HD media player etc.....

come on.. it's widely accepted DTS/DD = SD, anything higher like DTS-MA and TrueHD is HD sound.. what so prejudice about that?
just because people can't own equipment for HD sound means it's cannot say HD or SD?? argue on technical points la like sampling 44.1KHz 16bit vs 96/khz/24Hz.. or bitrates, 448kbps DD 5.1 vs 6000kbps LPCM etc.. not about whether you can afford it or not...

as for your 1st paragraph point... since you are so "righteous" so why do you speak on behalf of others (i.e. non audiophile) whether they can hear the difference or not SD or HD sound? you assume they (the non-audiophiles) can't? or it's just barely marginal difference? why make such assumption?
