I just purchased an iPhone 3GS 16gb from Australia when Maxis announced their plan. Hmm, the iData RM50 plan seems tempting. I might just let go mine slightly cheaper to get the the Maxis set.

@tinkerbell

I was reading Maxis' website again only to found out that yes, I could always just subscribe to the iData plan! Silly me tongue.gif

Anyway the only other reason I would sell off mine and buy Maxis' set is for the warranty.

Just a thought really wink.gif I... ermm... actually haven't have my phone yet sad.gif My friend is only coming back this Saturday so... It's a black 16gb though!

Anyway do you happen to know how much is the rate for data usage if i'm on iValue 50 plan? I don't really know if I need the extra iData plan or not. After all, on my old iPhone I don't have GPS and surfing on the EDGE network is a bit too slow so I've never used it. I also turned off Push notification on my old iPhone.

Having said that, I am not too sure how much is enough for data usage. Would appreciate if you can share some of your experience!

Thanks Nokia wink.gif The site that you mentioned is helpful. I usually do search around a bit before asking but alas, I fall into the i-lazy-to-search trap too sometimes. Apologies! Anyway it's good to hear what others say about their data usage smile.gif

Cheers!

p/s: Just sold off my iPhone and miss it right away. Was trying to look for a meaning of a word just now only to realize I don't have my phone with me...and hence, without my dictionary. Sigh sad.gif

If everything goes well (read: I am able to offload my AU iPhone 3GS) I will be making my pre-booking for Maxis' iPhone prepaid package. I will also be converting my postpaid to prepaid to be eligible to receive the free 500mb data for 12 months. Since I am a very light mobile phone user (calling, sms, etc.), I guess this could be a good deal for me.

The only thing I am worry of now is that the collection date for 31st July is full sad.gif I may be leaving the country on 1st August, leaving 31st July the only time I could collect the phone. I really hope they have enough phones for all of us on the 31st.

Went to Time Square Maxis today and one of the girls there with a 'Consultant' badge on her shirt told me that new data plans will be introduced some time next week. I also asked if I could subscribe to the 1MB and 5MB data plan, as I am already a Value Plan user. According to her, no. That are only for Blackberry users and the only 2 options I have are RM99 unlimited plan or pay-per-use.

I am not convinced with her 'only for Blackberry users' information. Hence, I suppose her information about new data plan should be taken with a grain of salt.

Ya, I was kinda surprised when she said it was only for Blackberry users. But I'd still want to believe that Maxis will be introducing new data plans. Something similar to the iData would be absolutely perfect. It may be wishful thinking but it helps me to sleep better at nite! LOL!

Hey guys!!

1. Tempted to get the IPhone 3Gs on the Hotlink plan. I can use wifi to download all my apps and videos right?

2. And most places i go to have a wireless connection, so the 500mb data plan doesn't really matter right?

3. If i decide to stick my Celcom postpaid into the new IPhone 3Gs, will the 500mb data be automatically forfeited, say if i decide to swap back to my Hotlink again?

4. And also, on my postpaid Celcom plan, data is exp, i can just stick to wifi for everything right?

1. Yes

2. Ask yourself?

3. You'll have to keep your Hotlink line active to receive the 500mb data. Read more at Hotlink website.

4. Ask yourself?
