I just got my 3G S from machine gardens this morning, hotlink plan. No news on 500MB so decided to make a call to Maxis, bla bla.. hold up for 7 min then tell me the system is down etc. my 500MB is not activated and ask me to call again in 24 hours to check with them....
That call alone ended up makan my poor RM8.80 prepaid value.. sigh...

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Aug 1 2009, 09:45 PM) Calls to 123 is supposedly free, no? I am taking the hotlink plan, so no 123 for me as that one is only for postpaid. I have to call the 1300820120 which I didn't know they charge it for their customer service. Anyway I think my case is almost the same as pjastro, Went to Machine Gardens to get my iPhone 3G S. They let me choose the hotlink number, but I wanted those with 012. So they told me to get it from Maxis Garden which I did. Came back process went smoothly and phone activated etc. Happy ending right? So then I waited for the free 500MB SMS to come... which didn't so I make a call to their CS. They told me my number was not registered for the 500MB free data, system is down etc. so need to call them back after 24 hours. They hold me up for like 5~7 min while they check their system... All the more reason not to cancel my DiGi + Unlimited Data Plan now. Although I kinda hate it when no one can call me when I am using EDGE. This post has been edited by xenohawk: Aug 1 2009, 09:59 PM

Just a update for those of you who got the phone with hotlink plan on saturday and still haven't received the free 500MB data SMS.
I just called up the customer service (after 24 hours since my last report) and they said that they will only activate it on working days. If by noon tomorrow there is still no activation of the 500MB free data you can call back customer service about it.
So far I am lucky that the iPhone never try to connect the internet even though I did accidentally ter-clicked on Safari and Mail. Lucky 1U have free WiFi, other big mall should really do that..

Been through a whole lot of work for this hotlink plan. I still haven't yet get any SMS for the 500MB. I called CS a few times already but still no solution, all they asked me is to wait and wait. Fed up with all that crap I went directly to Machine Gardens and Maxis Gardens.
So here is my story,
1. Went to Maxis Gardens, they check and tell me that my hotlink is not activated at all, no GPRS, no 3G, no MMS, nothing. Asked me to refer back to Machine Gardens where I bought my 3G S and asked them to activate it (huh? isn't that supposed to be maxis side?).
2. So back at Machine, they were surprise that it wasn't activated. They even show me the printed online activation form to me and it does shows activated on the day I bought the iPhone. He was good enough to make a call to maxis to see what is going on. Some how my hotlink number is not tied to the iPhone purchased hence all the data packages are not activated. Machine guys think that it could be that the system is down when I was activating it.
3. Since I already had a case with hotlink customer service, I had to call them up again for follow up. So I call again... Now they tell me that the technical team are still investigating it and asked me to wait for at least 7 days more (I was about to explode here). He also told me it could be because I had non 3G SIM card so asked me to upgrade it to a 3G one for RM25.... wth.. I got my sim the same day as I got my iPhone.
4. I walk over to Maxis Garden again... talk again with them about all the hassle I have been through. This time they are kind enough to activate it for me manually. They have help me to at least activate my 3G so at least I can surf the net now but still no 500MB free SMS. Their system looks like it is busy with request so my activation only occurs 2 hours later. They also told me that there is no difference in 2G or 3G sim card when connecting to the network, it is the same (so who am I to trust now?)
Now at home, tired and still with a somewhat cripple iPhone while waiting for the 500MB SMS. So those that never got the SMS yet you might have better chance if you go directly to the place you get the iPhone and Maxis Center then calling their CS because according to CS, if there is a case they will barred or put on hold any value added services (e.g. free 500MB data) to avoid interference with the case investigation.

QUOTE(pjastro @ Aug 4 2009, 12:14 AM) From my previous post on 500mb. This morning I went back to machines, they help me to screw ppl from maxis. He told me everything will be sorted out for me, So.. In less than 30 minutes I got sms telling me that my 500mb been activated for the next 12 months. How come I still don't receive even though Machine help me with that too Going to go to maxis garden again today... I can't afford to wait 7 days as the data charges are killing my prepaid with 1sen/kb. iPhone consume data like drinking water after a race. Will report back later.

Hmm my post has been spread to 2 topics (O_O) not sure where am I suppose to post this so sorry mod if I post this on the wrong one.
Anyway this is regarding the Hotlink 500MB SMS issues. I went to maxis garden again just now and see what is really going on there.
It seems there is a error in their system that is causing the hotlink number not registered with the iPhone purchased. There is about 80 cases like that and they are fixing it according to when you get your phone.
The 7 days waiting period stated by CS is actually buffer for them, so usually this will resolved in 1-2 days. They are willing to rebate you back all the CS interaction call fee and data fee you used so far before the 500MB activation (better confirm this with maxis about your case).
So that's that. Now there is nothing you can do, just have to wait for them to activate yours.
