Heyya guys, need info here:

1. I use the Maxis Value Plan 150.
2. My account is bolted on with Maxis USB Broadband.
3. When i tried to book the i 3GS, it said i wasn't eligible for the iData plan.

Q: Is the fact that my account is bolted the reason i cant subscribe to the iData plan?

Sorry, i wasn't clear. What i mean was this:
I subscribe to Value Plan 150. And i also subscribe to the Maxis Broadband. They have a package where i can 'bolt on' the Maxis Broadband to my postpaid acc. This will enable me to receive discount for payment of my broadband. Both will be under 1 account.

So, when I tried to book, it didnt let me choose the iData plan. I couldnt only choose between the iValue or iPrepaid plan. That was a bit weird. That's all. Am wondering if the 'bolt' is the reason.

Hi all. Just to shed some light on the Data usage.

Im subscribed to the Maxis USB Broadband. And at this point of time, i've been online using 3G for 1 hour and 40 mins exactly.

I've surfed Lowyat.forums, Facebook, Gmail, Soccernet etc. and i've downloaded mini-files and attachments (because big downloads seem to be blocked).

The total volume of my usage is 22.6 MB.

I'd consider my usage intermediately heavy as I use it everyday.
So, if we generally say 3 hours of usage is 40 MB, if u use it 24/7, thats about 320 MB for 24 hours.

This is not accurate by any means, but an estimation based on usage from who uses the internet often.

Cheerio

Question:

If i am using iValue Plus 150,
and i contract to iData 99 for 12 months,

is i wanted to change to Postpaid or another iValue Plan (mind you, not disturbing the iData contract), is that valid?

logically speaking there doesnt seem to be a problem. Or is there?

@jfoong,
I'm on hold at the moment while waiting for CS to double confirm with the Management because the information she gave me was what we thought is right, hence is different from what U got.

She said:-
1) It is the iData plan that you're locking urself with
2) The VP plan remains un contracted hence U can downgrade from VP80 to VP30 anytime during the 12 months.  U just cannot touch the iData plan.

As to the question I posed earlier, she recommended to call in to Maxis to stop the RM99 Unlimited plan either before I collect the i3GS or the day before so there won't be 'double' billing.

And for record purposes, the person who spoke with me is one Sharifah.

This is an interesting theory:

1. Buy iPhone via iData Plan at RM1990.
2. Since not stuck to the VP but the iData, keep paying the iData plan at RM99 per month (assuming this is the data plan subscribed to).
3. Later, switch to Prepaid and subscribe to Hotlink Youth Club (if eligible) and enjoy cheaper rates (especially, and more importantly so, for SMS).

Shouldnt this be possible? This came to my mind because my VP plan is raking up the bill esp for SMS's to non-Maxis (last month it was RM97 for sms's to non maxis numbers). Via my theory, ppl can get the subsidy AND possibly enjoy cheaper rates... Or am i wrong?

Lol.. not quite an activist yet but very busy. Always mass-smsing my colleagues to update on program progress etc.

RM97 for SMS to non-Maxis numbers. My sms to Maxis users is RM 73.00. So, just SMS for last month was RM170!! My calls was RM146.

So u can tell i am a heavy sms-er. tongue.gif

So, if the iData plan is hinged upon the VP, that means that we are stuck with VP. The only thing that can be changed from my understand is within the VP itself- ie. can change from VP150 to 80 and vice versa but not from VP to prepaid.

Nevertheless, however u look at it, both dont effect the iData plan (the rationale to have a VP plan isn't very concrete considering a user can have prepaid and a data plan. Right?)
